Wife and I tried to watch Sister Act on DVD last year, and even she, as a ‘quality doesn’t matter’ movie watcher, said “why does it look SO bad?”

It was pretty well unwatchable on a modern TV, so we went and found the Blu-Ray.

    • thats for the tip Jake! good to know

Yep Blu-ray is definitely much nicer to watch on. Also it depends if you can tolerate how DVDs can only have maximum 720x576. And it then automatically stretches it to 1024x576 so it creates the missing pixels horizontally to make it 16:9 widescreen. I personally think it looks okay on 40 inch screen and not less. But yeah, it is not HD resolution. I wouldn't buy DVDs for latest movies because I use 100 inch screen and yes DVDs too blurry on the big screen.

I don't buy DVDs anymore but I'm happy to watch some old favourites. So I only mentioned this one because it was particularly bad.

CEX has both movies on Blu-Ray for $20.

    • are those second hand? or brand new?

      • +1

CEX sells second-hand items, so condition may vary.
Also each item would have $4 postage added on if you can't collect from a store.

    • first time i ever been to CEX website before

Viewers who have habitually turned to Seven during the Olympics were left wondering if they’d hit the wrong button on their remotes as they were greeted by Sister Doloris instead of Bruce McAvaney 🤣
