[VIC] Dimplex Heated Drying Rack $99.99 (Was $184.99) & More @ Costco, Docklands (Membership Required)

Was interested in this for drying my towels between use during winter. However, I’m in two minds because my cats would probably use it as a sleeping place. 5 kg a shelf would be touch and go.

  • These were flying out the door at Ringwood a couple of days ago. Not sure what the big fuss is about.

    • Same.. what is the fuss especially given the cost?
Also how is it economical, looks like its just a rack with an on/off switch using 300W of energy constantly and there is no hint on how long it takes to dry. How would it be more efficient than a proper dryer or even putting a normal air drying rack under a reverse cycle air conditioner. Can't find any unpaid reviews on this type of product. Looks like Kogan has something similar for $50 that at least keeps the heat enclosed and has a timer.

Seeing some US reviews suggesting roof mounted rack dryers are popular but they use fans and heat.

I imagine the rack unit might be good for delicate items that are risky in a dryer.

Yeah surprised this is popular. I have one from
Ebay. Only the part that touches the rack is getting the heat. Rest takes forever to dry.
I am probably not using it right

      • Exactly the same with this one.. total flop. Clothes would never dry as you cant hang anything given heat will only be on the metal part and not the part that hangs.

      • It’s just a shittily conceptualised product. It sounds interesting in theory but practically it just doesn’t work. Might as well just hang the towel in front of a heater or something instead.

Although the ones I hear bad things about are just a single rack, this one has multiple crossbars on the rack which should theoretically give off more heat?

Its terrible.. we got one and returned for refund. The heat is bare minimum and clothes wouldnt dry.

Thanks for the reviews people. Probably not worth purchasing then.

  • I put a drying rack over a ducted heating vent. Cover completely with old bedsheets. Even place some things on hangers inside. Everything dries within 24 hours. The heating is not on overnight.
