In a recent bargain for some super expensive bubbly, which was way above my budget, there were a number of positive comments for Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay as a very good but more affordable méthode champenoise. So I have been keeping an eye out for its Dan Murphy's price to drop ever since.
Its standard price is $25/$26, but it dropped a few days ago to $16.90/$17.80. I wanted to verify this was the actual in-store price before posting, which I confirmed yesterday. I don't know when this reduced price ends.
This bubbly is obviously very popular, because despite not being in the latest catalogue, and not being marked as a reduced price on the shelf, it's definitely selling very well, as its shelf was almost empty at the Alexandria store in Sydney. But then I asked a staff member, who got me some more from out the back. Some bottles just come loose/as-is, but some of the bottles come in a nice cardboard box, which is perfect, because some are going to be Christmas gifts, and it looks fancier.
So a nice gift, or perfect for own consumption over the holidays, supposed to be a great drop, at a reduced price.
We tried 4 sparkling wines recently of similar value and this was far superior to the others.
