    • I had the Note 8,Note 10 plus and have the S23 Ultra now and Moto G84 as a spare.

The display of the Moto G84 even though its good,I feel even the Note 8 screen quality was better than Moto G84.

I've logged in, but when I put in the code it says to sign in and therefore isn't working.

    Any ideas?

    • +1

I had this problem, desktop and website are not working properly. I used the BIG W App on my phone and it worked.

      • Thanks for the help.

        Might give that a try.

  • +1

This phone is awesome.. got it last year for $338 and $100 jbhifi card which made it $228 effectively:P.

Gifted it in fam and they r super happy..

  • +1

Bought one for the father in law using the NRMA 5% off gift cards. Thanks OP. Legend.

      • So it turns out Big W screwed me on this one haha. Order got cancelled. Waiting for my gift card to be refunded. Hopefully I get it back before they sell out. It also says I've already used the promo code online even though the order was cancelled. Think I'll just stick with Amazon from now on lol.

  • Grabbed one after the misses xiaomi phone will be made redundant after the loss of the 3g network in sept

  • Does anybody else have issues with the camera on this phone? Sometimes it'll just freeze for me no matter what I do, other times it works fine.

Doesn't matter if I use another app or restart my phone. If anyone experiences this please let me know any fixes that work for you. Have tried clearing camera cache and using gcam :(

    • +2

I have the same issue. After doing some reading l discovered the issue is with 5G. If you switch the phone to 4G the camera works perfectly. Moto know about the issue but have been slow in coming up with a fix other than using the 4G network when using the camera.

      • +1

Wow you're spot on. Thank you so much, appreciate this. Hopefully they fix it soon!

  • +3

I own one and I've been super impressed with everything about it (not even considering price)

  • I'm just getting a "link to use rewards code" error.

I'll be mindful that I do already get a team member discount, which brings this to the $269.10, but can't use XJUL2024.

    • +1

I did notice this too. However, I managed to add my monthly 5% off and $20 in rewards points to get it to just under $236 which I think is a serious score!

Don't forget to add your 5x Big W points booster as well.

    • Getting the same error: "Sign in or Link Rewards Card to use code". I'm logged in and have a linked Rewards card AND I joined Everyday Extra (30 day trial) which is where the code comes from. Maybe they broke it in the last couple of hours?

      • Same

      • Try unlinking and then re-linking your EDR; that worked for me

        • Thanks, unlinking and relinking works. But now the phone is sold out. :(

      • Same too

  • This or Samsung A35 5g for $350 from Telstra?

    • This.

    • I don't think A35 is $350 now.

      • It was with Telstra when I checked last couple of days ago.

        • A35 in Australia has 6GB of RAM. G84 has 12GB. But A35 has stronger processor.

        • It still is until 29th july

    • Samsung UI and non-deletable Samsung apps will make you want to bash your head against a wall.

  • Was trying to get a non flagship phone as my Rog 3 won't be any good after the end of August. This seems like a better option than the cmf nothing phone I am inclined to

  • Each time this sale pops up I'am always tempted to ditch the old S20 + 5G but then compare specs i just cant even when the S20's battery is according to the phone starting to slowly fail.

  • Hows the rooting situation?

    • +16

Not good, not have had one for a long while. Thanks for asking.

  • Just noting that this nrma offer is still available: My NRMA Blue Membership Free for 12 Months (Usually $60, New & Inactive Members Only) @ My NRMA

I think the party is over. I can add to cart but no option to pick up or delivery :(

Upside…the code works on FORMULA so that did some way to assuage my disappointment.

  • Time to move from Poco X3 Pro? I don't face any issues with it yet. Just concerned if it will be a pre-matured move and if I can resell the used Poco easily.

  • +1

Thanks, ordered a red one for father in law (will be picked up at Rouse Hill Big W)

  • +1

    Hardly any stocks left?

  • Getting "Sign In or Link to rewards error code". Trying for atleast an hour with different email accounts, no success. Giving up and going to sleep.

    • Signed up for a new BigW and EDR account and was able to link and purchase with the code.

  • I bought this only a short while ago when Mobiciti had them for about the same price.
Very nice phone for this price - crazy good actually.

After installing Gcam, the camera goes from being pretty horrible to pretty ok.

  • My order is cancelled by BigW!

  • +2

Bloody order cancelled. Had some other things in the order. Gift card will take too long to get refunded and the 10% discount no longer effective. Look like I have a very useless gift card I can't do anything about. :-(

    • +1

      Same, mate

    • Same thing happened to me. My order for a midnight blue was cancelled. I ended up laybying a red one so I could lock it in until the gift card refund came through. It also won't let you use the promo code again (even though your order was cancelled). I called customer service and they sent me a gift card for the value of the promo code (approx $30). You can't use gift cards to pay for the initial layby fee though (10%)

      • EDIT: you can't pay for online lay bys with gift cards!!! Looks like I'll be using my gift cards for fuel instead

  • I just received a sms 'ready to collect from Rouse Hill BigW service desk'.

  • What's the easiest way to transfer my phone from a Samsung to a Motorola? In the past smart switch on Samsung's has made it a breeze. Not sure on this instance?

      • +3

Motorola Migrate app was discontinued a while back I believe.

When setting up the G54, it'll ask you if you want to migrate data from another device including iPhone. Looks like all it needs is a cable to connect the two devices from the image. Not sure if it can do it over wifi. I'm not transferring data with my setup that I'm doing now so can't advise more but there is functionality to do it when setting up the device.

It's useful for me as I'll likely need to re-setup Dad's G54 and copy over files from his Oppo A53s.

    • +2

Last time I set up a Moto phone, during that process it gave me the option of connecting via USB C cable to my previous phone (which was a Pixel). Did that, took a couple of mins, easy as

    • Legends. Thanks guys

    • Serious question. Why are you swapping from Samsung? Do you have a Galaxy S or A series?

I have the A53, and the 5 years software support is something that will keep me from swapping to another phone anytime soon.

      • +1

Probably due to Samsung's One UI and all the unavoidable and undeletable Samsung apps and background services. That's the reason I've just swapped from Samsung recently.

      • +1

I'm swapping from a Fold 3. The inner screen has snapped for the third time right down the middle and it's out of warranty. Wanted to switch to the Moto temporarily until the new Pixel fold is out to work out which flagship I switch to. But the Moto seems so great, that the only real significant compromise is the camera. Might hang onto it for longer that I initially expected. Maybe till the s25 ultra if the pixel fold is too expensive (rumoured around $3k).

        • The Fold 6 has a $3k price tag for one of the variants so I wouldn't be surprised if the Pixel Fold does too.

          Of course, that's RRP.

Personally, unless you need the larger screen, I find the S2X Ultra series is the sweet spot when you can get it for ~$1000 or less. JB's trade ins with $500 gift coupons usually does the trick.

  • wonder why this has no e-sim while cheaper g54 does?

  • Anyone know how to complete remove (uninstall) default apps like

    GoogleTV
    Youtube Music
    Meet
    Motorola Notifications

    • @Huntakillaz did you have any luck removing them?

Had mine delivered today and I like nothing more than bloat ware!!

      • Nah haven't googled much yet

  • thanks OP…. ordered !!!

  • No eSIM capability.

  • I ended up walked into Telstra shop and bought A35 for $349 instead, still prefer Samsung when wife's Note 5 after 8 years still working fine and no need to switch phone even after 3G shutdown, damn amazing!
With Samsung having longer software & security support, hope this can last another 7-8 years again, I hate changing phone. …

    • For Dad's main phone we got him a Samsung A55 when Amaysim had them discounted to $399.

We definitely thought that the longer software and security support is well worth the extra $150 compared to the G84.

My only experience with Samsung in the past was with my brother's Galaxy S1 and S2 which were prone to failure after the 2yr mark IIRC. But I've been pretty impressed with the S23U and Fold 5 that my wife and I got at the end of last year. Hopefully all the current Samsung phones will go the distance and last 8yrs like your wife's Note 5.

      • Yep I also got that A55 deal for wife via Amaysim with the extra $150 voucher, so for $250 A55 really was bargain of the universe, hence today paying $349 for A35 feels like getting ripped off LOL! Although everywhere starts having sale now for $449, Telstra deal is still better off.

        • Yeah, I was really hoping one of the 4 Amaysim accounts my parents and I hold would have gotten the $150 coupon… alas no… but at $399 it was still a pretty decent deal and probably the best option for Dad at the time.

  • Hmmm there's a Everyday rewards bonus as well that I think you can stack with this deal

  • No android 15.

  • No much stock around now - Ozbargained?

  • Anyone struggle with the NFC in this phone? Really annoying I have to hold my tongue the right way for the thing to work. Frustrating when there's a line of people behind you.

    • +1

Oh so its you holding up the queue. I was behind in the queue wondering why you are you sticking out your tongue.

    • It works great for me. I usually open the Wallet App to get the right card, place the phone on the Reader and wait 1 or 2 secs.

    • Card payments work fine but I can't for the life of me get this phone to work with the older (thick neon green) Myki readers in Melbourne - I've given up and gone back to using a physical Myki card.

Got this phone after I smashed my S22 ultra and I love everything about it so far other than this!

    • +4

I watched a teardown video today and the NFC antenna is a small square next to the camera about the same size as the camera square. I tested it after work at one of the places I have been having issues with and it worked straight away so best to aim for that spot when tapping it. My old phone you could basically tap it on any spot on the back and it would work.

      • +1

Also find it works better (in general, I'm not using a G84 atm) when you hold it away from the terminal a little rather than placing right on top.

  • ordered last one from North Lakes

  • Guys any links on screen protector and case please.

  • Price changed 5 min before dad tried to buy

    • It still works. I just bought one.

  • Motorola G85 has been released. If there is still anyone left in Australia who hasnt bought a G84 yet ,maybe wait a few months for a similar discount on G85 instead.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/moto-g85-5g-128gb-urban-g…

  • My Oppo A78 5G is about kaputsky thanks to some fat bastard leaning on it and bending the whole thing… I can either get another for around this price… But would this be a better option??

  • Is it any different from the one that expired recently?

  • Does anyone know if this or the G85 supports Aptx or LDAC? Seems to be the only key feature missing.

  • Thanks, OP.

  • -1

This should be marked as OOS.

    • -2

That's what the report button is there for ;:

    • (not marked as OOS as still a few of the Magenta around says the report bot)
