Rewards Credit Card with a Part Time Job

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if it is worth applying for a rewards credit card would be worthwhile if I have a part time job paying around 25k annually and living with my parents. I usually spend around 20k a year on my debit card every year as I try and flip collectables on the side.

Do you declare your flips as income? If you’re earning 25k and spend 20k, good luck.

    • I am planning to this financial year, so its probably smarter to wait then right?

A $6k credit limit card typically states a minimum income of 35k. You might only be able to find a low rate card for lower income. Or just try your luck with who you currently bank with.

I understand there are credit cards requiring $15K minimum income but they won't be rewards earners

Really? Which ones? Not for me to apply but just curious since that surprises me, I thought the lowest minimum would be higher.

My advice: don't get a credit card.

    • He easily has a safety net. He might as well earn points/churn if he isn’t carrying a balance.

      • How many points is he seriously going to earn. On his income and his spending would be lucky to get a $100 gift card

    • Have a bunch in a savings account and I don't tend to impulse buy anything right now I'm authorised on my parents credit card but looking to get my own to start building my credit score

This credit score is a hog wash. You will be better if you don't have cc at all.

Building a credit score is very American. In Oz, you start with good credit, it's not something you need to build.
