Are you following the instructions to the book?

I prefer to use less water / more spicy, but it is still childsplay compared to Buldak noodles (fire spicy noodle challenge)

Personally don't like diluting it more than advised as then it completely loses its flavour.

Buldak 3x. Killed me. I couldn't do it - blurry vision, nausea. Never again.

      • The ‘normal’ buldak or the 3x spicy ones?

        • +1

I tried the "normal" buldak, and that nearly killed me. I liked the flavour and texture but then the spice swooped and it felt like torture, I couldn't finish it.

@smartProverble: You should wait for it to become a little cooler. Then it will become easier to eat.

Wait for deal for nongshim black
      Just right imo

      • Currently on sale for single pack $1.80 at Woolies, so $7.20 for 4 (vs regular $12 for a 4 pack).

        • Nice should be posted as a deal

Went to Woolies today , didn’t go down the asian food aisle sigh

have you tried that buldok 2x spicy? makes this taste like milk in comparison

    • Just the right amount of spice… when I only add about 1/3 the water.

I love spicy food and eat everything spicy but these things on my next trip to the facilities absolutely stink the place out. No issue with the 'ring of fire' (tame compared to the after effects of other spicy meal favourites) but I may have to stop eating these for the sake of others' olfactory sensibilities.

    • Name check out. Try Buldak 3x :P then you'll say very very very spicy 🥵

very very spicy, surely will give u hemorrhoids or piles

    • +5

Spicy foods do not cause hemorrhoids, quite the opposite in fact.

we went for hotpot on Friday. Saturday was like a bathroom massacre!

    • Try Buldak 3x :P then you'll say very very very spicy 🥵

  • Never go lower than 5 bucks anymore 😞

    • 1 pc $1 meal is still cheap …
But many other non Korean brands have smaller portion like between 60g to 85g which is not enough for me if only eating 1 pc …

  • I often see this regular variant for $4.50 'on special' at my local Asian supermarkets tho

    • -1

My local has it for 5.50, better to get at Aldi. What asian supo u go to?

Eating instant noodle with weetbix? Never try that 🤔

      • He means breakfast and dinner sorted.

        • Just a joke :P
Weetbix with the noodle soup will taste the same with the soup flavour …
People will feel full eating instant noodle soup with weetbix …

Anyone can try it first and let me know how it taste and your stomach may feel full :P

The Swedes do meatball with jam…

Somewhere in sure they do diced meat with milk, or salad with chocolate dressing etc.

Add some eggs and spring onion to make it even more delicious and less spicy.

    • +2

add cheese to make it less spicy! Esp. those plastic american cheese!

I used to find these soo spicy. I try the method that was viral during lockdown which was putting the seasoning, an egg (or just the yolk if you prefer) and some mayo in a bowl, mixing it up, then boiling the noodles 3-4 mins, adding a little noodle water to the bowl to ensure the egg isnt uncooked and then adding just the noodles. You can add more noodle water if you like it more soupy/taper down the spice. Add some mozzerella - delicious!

  • These are my favourite, perfect level of spiciness - I like spicy food though. I have 2 packets at once, one set of soup sachet, and poach 3 eggs into it. Perfect!

  • Do these taste better than Mi Goreng?

    • Yes.

      (Obviously subjective)

    • Not comparable as one has soup and mi goreng no soup. When you are feeling cold or tired, better eat noodle soup. When you are feeling like you want mi goreng or having stress, mi goreng tastes good and may increase your mood ;-)

Mi goreng is manufactured by Indofood and the company has other noodle soup flavours that you can buy from asian supermarkets.

The other "mi goreng" noodles not manufactured by Indofood (sold in Coles/Wollies/Aldi home brand) are just knock offs and taste not as good as the original mi goreng (by Indofood). There are original mi goreng made in Indonesia and Malaysia (another Indofood factory).

      • So you are saying Coles Mi Goreng is a knock off? But it does say manufactured in Indonesia by Indofood on the packet?

        • Mi goreng in Coles $3.95 (5 packs) is original. I checked again in Coles app, no more Coles home brand "mi goreng" (cheaper price). Maybe you can see it in Aldi (home brand "mi goreng")

          • @neoleo: Ok, IMO I actually like the taste of Mi Goreng. I like bulldock spicy ones too, but not as enjoyable due to being too spicy ;)

            • @[Deactivated]: Cheaper to buy mi goreng 10 packs in asian supermarkets or even 1 box if available.

              • @neoleo: Ya, I ll try that next time. Thanks.

From Coles, I usually buy a bulk pack of instant noodles and add an extra slab of noodles to the existing one. This dilutes the spiciness and I usually want to eat more noodles than the amount in the standard packet anyway. This way, instead of using 2 packets, I only used one which stretches out the cost.

You guys should try Jin ramen. I find it better, both spicy and mild options available.

    • How do the noodles compare? Similar gauge and chewiness?

      • +1

Quite similar, I just find it better overall. More flavourful, and, this is hearsay, but I have heard that Korean's themselves prefer the Jin ramen. Also I think the company who make Shin Ramyun got in trouble for bad stuff in their noodles not so long ago?

        • I think the flavour profile of the Jin Ramen is a bit more nuanced but I don't find it as flavourful as such and definitely not as spicy. I enjoy how in-your-face the spicy Nongshim is.

        • Jin Ramen is crap. If you want less spicy there is a vegetable Nongshim in a light green pack at Asian grocers which is better.

    • I like the Mild option. Not because it's less spicy, but because of sweet flavour.

  • Paid $8 two days ago at woolies. sigh

  • Dose anyone knows if this Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle oriental vegetarian friendly?

    • The red one is vegetarian, but black one is not vegetarian.

      • Thanks buddy! Cheers :)
