  • does this display time?

  • The Xiaomi sensor i got is like 2 degrees off the actual temp. Compared it to several $1,000 sensors and yeah. Waste of time. I doubt this one will be much better.

    • Your xiaomi is $7? I got that too. This is $45. So…. yeah..

Did you catch the part where professional / industrial digital sensors cost over a grand? I think the Xiaomi was more like $15 fro Aliexpress so probably about on par with this.

        • +4

But we are ozbargain not ozprofessional

          ;)
          Peace

@CyberMurning: If you're alright looking at a thermometer which is literally wrong all the time, then go for these cheap ones.

            • +1

@Budju: Well unless you have this and post review showing its not accurate (by far) for now i will based my purchasing decisions on amazon reviews and other buyers

              • -4

@CyberMurning: Yeah maybe the $1000+ digital sensors are a waste and this cheap chinese one will be the goods.

                • -2

@Budju: Correct. 2 degress differences will not make the earth freeze to death like that ghostbusters movie

    • +2

is it a consistent 2 degrees in the same direction, i.e. if you always subtract 2 then you know the temp?

      • -4

I wasn't actually in possession of the expensive (multiple) sensors that confirmed it was invariably wrong. They belonged to someone else. I would suggest it wasn't consistent in how much it was wrong by. Maybe it's even right from time to time, like a broken clock. You'd never know when though.

    • +1

You can recalibrate them. But you need the accuracy of a $1000 sensor then sure, go buy one.

      • -4

You buy one. I will look into recalibrating.

    • +2

FYI, the temperature sensor on your $$$$ AC isn't accurate either. Accuracy isn't an issue as long as it doesn't fluctuate. Sensor for this or Xiaomi sensor located inside the casing, that explains the 2-degree difference. But if you have two Xiaomi, the difference is minor.

      • why would ambient room temperature over significant periods be 2 degrees warmer inside a piece of plastic if no heat is being emitted from within the housing? That's ridiculous, and might I mention, would be an absurd design flaw for a thermometer to have. The expensive ones are also housed in plastic.

        • Don't ask me, You are the one who told me? Maybe your pro thermometer is off? not collaborated?
The Xiaomi one I got is fairly accurate compared to the infrared thermometer that the AC technician had, and I'm not sure about the accuracy of an infrared thermometer, I'm not an expert.

  • Nice post OP

Bought two of the T315's and a hub at this price last week. Works great and controls some oil heaters plugged into old Kasa smart plugs. Arrived pretty quick and setup in an instant. Great deal.

    • I have been trying to think of a use for these, but all my heaters already have a thermostat, so it's just the convenience of setting then all on or off at the same time. Usually once I set the thermostat where I need it, from then on I don't have to worry about it ever again.

  • Note, as far as I can see, these sensors use a proprietary communication frequency and hub to work (not wifi or zigbee I.e. your coordinator will not work). If local control is important to you, I think TP link at least allows local control once it's finished initial setup but not sure if that extends to the hub.

  • Thanks. I got the motion sensor and the contact sensor to try.

  • Wish 40%-50% on IoT things

    • Do you mean the Wish website? Would help if you spoke in full sentences

      • +1

Sorry I mean 40%-50% discounts same as Echo Devices. Then I can upgrade all my generic tuya devices for the prices.

  • I have one of these and it is great! It is precise and can be used for automation. I only wish the display was a bit brighter so it is more visible when dark.
    Highly recommend it.
