The fastest consumer SSD on the planet is finally available at a semi decent price. As you can see by the below reviews it released around this price, but in US dollars.

To be very clear, this is a niche, high performance type product that not many people are in the market for. You're paying a lot extra for top tier performance and need a Gen 5 motherboard to take advantage of it. Please don't feel compelled to point out that you can buy much cheaper drives than this, we already know.

Next best price I found was $850, but that included a heatsink. The (custom) heatsink version is an extra $50 here which seems expensive but one way or another you're going to need decent cooling for this.

Cooler / less power hungry drives with new controllers are expected to be released this year at some point, but they are still unlikely to be much faster or cheaper.

Who cares about your comment. We know this. It's even stated in the OP that it's not for everyone.

I might try this idea in Q4 this year

  • Would this be compatible for PS5

    • It should but quite wasteful.

Also not sure how hot it would go when running on PCIe 4 mode. Likely still need extra cooling.

  • Man I just want higher capacity SSDs :(

  • sucks how manufacturers moved mlc to enterprise market and we get qlc/tlc instead. my 960 pro 2tb still insane at sustained 4k r/w
