I only hvae a vintage Seiko Clock from the 60s or 70s that uses a C battery and has a sweeping hand.

        It's not just about having to change time twice a year. Auto time detection (based on time zones) makes the clocks more accurate. e.g. laptop, mobile, etc.

    I have a "silent" Seiko clock.
    It uses a light sensor to detect when it's getting dark and then stops the second hand on the 12 until it gets light again the next morning. And, yes, the other two hands continue to work but don't make any noise.
    (Don't know if this is the same.)

    Speaking of clock, I got myself this Seiko Melody which plays a nice melody at hour mark as a subtle reminder to my in-laws it's time to leave.
