Not sure how this rates compared to the Macpac Halo but I would be keen to hear from someone who owns both.
Hooded version also available: https://www.amazon.com.au/Kathmandu-Hooded-Lightweight-Water…

Thanks, added to description :)
Had them several years ago, more comparable to the Macpac Uber Light IMO. Halo is heftier.
Medium size fill weights:
Uber light = 73g
Heli = 108g
Halo = 205g
Thank you :)
So this one is better for a normal cold weather and macpac halo for extra cold?
This https://www.decathlon.com.au/p/men-s-mountain-trekking-down-… down jacket from Decathlon that has 10.0% Grey Duck Feather, 90.0% Grey Duck Down vs 80% Duck down 20% Duck feather on Kathmandu weighs 160g for size M vs 108 for the Heli. Also it seems that Decathlon says that the $100 jacket is "Comfortable between 0°C and -10°C."
Decathlon as 660CUIN vs 600CUIN on the Kathmandu.
Do I bother if I already have a halo v2?
Only if you want something lighter that you can throw over the top of other layers (e.g. a sweater). Otherwise, nah
It's a lot thinner (thickness and cut) than the Halo.
It's you're a slim build you may prefer it, but I certainly didn't find it anywhere near as comfortable or warm. Even the sleeves are a narrower fit, so anyone with even 'some' forearm will find it too tight.
I have one and can confirm its not warm enough on its own in Sydney weather at the moment
You do realise you should be wearing something under it, right?
Yep, a Macpac Halo underneath by the looks of things.
I like to freeball
really? I did an overnight hike on the weekend and only wore a merino base layer, lulu lemon long sleeve and a nike wind breaker that doesnt even zip up although we didnt have the wind we currently have.
Id expect it to be warm enough unless your sitting on a park bench in the shade, in that case you need a ski jacket lol
this jacket is useful for hiking. they pack quite small and is useful for layering.
A plastic garbage bag also packs small and is useful for layering.
I say just get a Macpac
Very light, stylish and premium look and quality, however, not suitable for Melbourne cold winter. Bought one 2 months ago with discounted gift cards at 10% and 7% TCB
I own both and Kathmandu is way better. Macpac feels cheap.
no X-Large :(
