Green / Orange 210T only. Great tent for the price. I have the 3p. Manages condensation well and has held up in bad weather so far. Main cons for me were small vestibule. Also, I strongly suggest using 1 size larger than number of people you intend to sleep in there. I.e. the 2p is a good solo tent, unless you REALLY like your hiking buddy.

Good tent for one person. The 20D nylon version is the one that usually gets recommended as it's lighter. Tunnel entry means if there's more than one person in there you have to squeeze in/around/over them to get in or out, and it narrows down at one end so it's pretty tight in there for two.

Wouldn't recommend for bad weather as while it keeps the weather out, the vestibule is useless. You can't open the door in the rain while keeping the interior dry, or store anything bigger than a pair of shoes. Tent is pretty restrictive inside so if you're waiting out a storm it's not a great place to be. I'm not tall and there's only one spot I can sit upright inside without touching the walls, and that's only if I keep my head very still.

If you want more space and practicality (at a slight weight penalty) then go the mongar. It has much more headroom inside so you can fit two people sitting up, dual side entry and functional vestibules.

This is really a one-man tent, and so there is room inside for your pack in bad weather. Would definitely go bigger for two.

That's correct, I usually have my pack inside when using my one. It's not a great space to be stuck in if you have to wait out a bad storm, especially if you don't have any other shelter to do things like cook.

Even if you aren't storing anything in the vestibule you still have the issue of not being able to open the door in bad weather without rain getting in. The top of the door opening is further back than the bottom of the inner tent, so unless you have sideways rain from the rear of the tent stuff gets wet.

The Star-River-2 is worth a look also, $144 for the 20D…

I have a 20D Lanshan-2 and a Cloudup-1 for hiking but I needed a new motorbike camping tent to replace my slogged out Companion Pro Hiker 2, grabbed the 210T polyester Star-River-2 when it was $117 a while back… I went for this because being sturdy was more important than weight and I wanted the high solid internal sides to help keep the dust and sand out in the deserts. (I also considered the very similar Mongar but it has mesh internal sides) …. I also wanted to try the 210T because the 20D bugs me a bit, once it gets damp/wet it's a bit of a pain to dry, it absorbs a lot of moisture…. I've only done a few nights with the 210T so far but it doesn't seem to absorb moisture, the water can be shaken or wiped off a lot easier than the 20D….

No real complains with it other than the dust sticks to the 210T quite badly, no doubt that will improve in time as it gets more use, wears a bit, and loses that new silicon like feel….

I didn't think about the sand issue when I recently bought a Mongar for V-strom camping. Don't suppose you know how bad the issue is? pain in the bum in general or only when super windy etc

      • +1

It depends where you are and how bad the wind is, it's mainly a desert issue if it's real windy, general use it's not a big issue… My old Companion Pro Hiker 2 had mesh doors down to the bottom, numerous times out in the deserts I woke in the morning to me and my gear totally covered in sand where the wind had whipped it up under the fly and through the mesh, it's a pain having it clean it out of everything…
