Does anybody actually eat Subway for dinner? I see stores open at night and never anyone inside

    • +9

Lol Does anybody actually eat Subway at all. last time i had it there was hardly any filling .

      • +1

Their policy is you can always ask for more of the basic vegetables..

I usually stack up on tomatoes, capsicum and maybe another random veggie.

But yeah their meat portions you cannot do that and they are a little on the stingy side.

      • +2

yep not worth it. often i eat one sub and i have to eat some more meat with rice after a couple of hours.

i am referring to the meat. the other veggie i usually ask more. the meat is a childs serve for one sub. not worth it.

I planned on it tonight, so this deal works for me

    • +1

I've done it once in maybe 5 years. It was only me in the store when I went.

    • +1

I generally only eat Subway for dinner.
      This deal works for me.

    • +2

this is the last choice in america, unless its a $5 footlong, lol.

yea, i don't know how they stay in business. same thing with red rooster, no one is ever there.

must be used for money laundering, lol.

      • +1

The Rooter is S class food.

      • You should see any of the city stores at lunch time. Lines throughout the store, out the door, and down the street

    • Subway is for breakkie or snacks, they not filling at all.

    • +1

I got sucked in last week with the free toastie offer.

Saddest side I have ever had in my life I literally made some better cheese toast at home today just using Coles white bread and coles shredded mozzarella.

Also cheapest footlong now is $12.75 a pizza melt. Sad bad times.

When I worked at Subway almost 20 years ago, the franchisee had a bright idea of two footlongs for $10 after 7PM, I think it was mon-wed from memory. We had a line out the door every night and there was only ever two staff on. One guy would come and get six footlong subs for $30 and tell us that's his meal prep for the week.

I worked there for about a month before he went bankrupt.

    • +1

Definitely was a bright idea if it was 20 years ago - Subway US introduced $5 footlongs in 2008.

With wages back then being pretty low he should have been making money.

      • $10 USD for 2 footlongs would have kept him afloat probably.

    • Yeah just ordered and picked up at 3pm AEST doesnt stop me in the app.

My local Subways have had an abysmal drop in quality in recent years - anyone else find this?

    • +2

Depends on the subway I have found, but probably two out of three of my the closest ones have dropped in quality…

I have another one close, but it's in a rich suburb, the prices are a few dollars more even for a 6 inch. I hate it how they can say their own prices…

    • yeah drop in quality in the food but more drop in quality in the people working there, sadly they seem like they cbf. feel like thats anywhere in maccas or kfc, like they cbf but its like their job! gosh if they dont want to do that job then lets just open immigration up and others will take these jobs if they dont want a job

    • +1

They've dropped in quality everywhere, and now charge out the arse. The footlong sandwich that I used to get in 2018/19 (chicken parmi, add beetroot and an extra type of cheese) for $14 (which I thought was rich back then but filled me up for a work day if I had it at 10:30am) now costs $21.05 (how can ANY sandwich cost this) and is nowhere near as filling.

It used to be my favourite takeaway place for over a decade, and I've probably only been there twice since COVID. Says everything, really.

Miss the $7 footlong basics last visit almost spent $30 on two subs. Way too much $$ these days

Fancy thinking this is a bargain

I didn't care about the drinks, I just drink my own, so $15 per footlong basically. For me not a great deal, I'll pass personally.

Generally drinks at fast food places are a rip off. BYO :)

    • Except in this deal the drinks are basically free plus a small discount on the footlong depending which type you order.

      • +4

Yes small discount.. not big enough to tempt me personally, each to their own.

If you were getting a lot of subway anyway, yeah, it's an ok deal.

    • +6

How did you arrive at 15$ per footlong?

      • My mistake $12.5 per footlong sorry.

        • +1

$12.5 can get you any footlong pre covide.

    • Some stores do have 2 for $20 in-store offer all year round.

  • at participating restaurants

That's the keyword. Need to double check or waste your time.

Isn't Subway bread more dessert than lunch/dinner?

I know all fast food meat is processed, but for health reasons, you should avoid Subway's highly processed and cured meats because they are all chemically treated.

  • im still looking for a local that actually has the Fiery Porkbelly ………………….
