why do i need the lifting straps for a processor like this…

    • +3

You don't. You need a certain "value" in the cart to qualify for the discount. You can choose anything you like. That's the cheapest exact-to-the-cent item they found.

        whoosh

    • +1

Its not for you. But with 12 beefy cores, the processor would need it to lift the load.

    Name a more iconic duo.

      X3D + Harbinger = end of intel

      • +2

Intel ARL is now on TSMC 3N and can reach 5.7GHz all core, you would never know. But I still prefer the all Performance cores and X3D cache of the Zen5.

lol oh i know i was just saying that as a joke with the harbinger strap thing… :) the more competition we have the better stuff we get as consumers

        • Intel needs arrow lake out sooner rather than later to distract from their raptor woes and respond to zen 5… hopefully it's competitive

@snep: Thats why they moved from Intel20A to TSMC. Else they would not have released until 2025.

  • Strictly gaming, do you think I would benefit much with this compared to 7600x?

    • +1

It will be faster in gaming, and with 6 extra cores it will faster at a lot of things.

Only if your CPU is bottlenecking the performance on your GPU.

      Example:

      I previously had a 1080 Ti + 4690k (Haswell)
There was a clear CPU bottleneck.
When I replaced the CPU with the Ryzen 7700x, the GPU performance shot up by 30-40% - CPU bottleneck removed.

This is why Tech Reviewers like Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed test their CPU's, they make sure to have the best GPU to assess the extent at which the CPU is bottlenecking the performance of the GPU with a RTX 4090

      • Yeah but like no one is gonna buy a worse cpu just so they dont have a cpu bottleneck and vice versa.

        • In gaming, you buy the CPU that's good enough to get the job done and sink as much money into your GPU soluton

If you have no limitations on your money, then in theory sure you can get the best CPU and gpu you can afford which might be the 7950x3d +4090, if that's what's required for your gaming and resolution needs.

But to answer the op's question, it depends on what gpu you have and if it's something like a 3000 series or below, the money might be better spent or invented in a good deal in the rtx 4000 or upcoming 5000 gpus from nvidia. Could also go down the amd route with a 7900 XT or XT gpu's.

    • What's your full specs?
