SALE10

Had my eye on this presence sensor for some time for my home automation kit.

Believe this is lowest yet $125.10 from Bing Lee on eBay.

I like supporting Bing Lee and not always Amazon.

Was almost $200 on Amazon and Office works yesterday. Looks like everyone marked it down at the moment but the best deal is on ebay.

(and here is me bagging ebay shitty ebay deals yesterday but this seems like best price ever)

use cashrwards to get a few more cents back.

    Neat!

I'm waiting for my mmWave sensors to arrive and build one with ESPhome.

    • This is the way.

    • Which did you go for? I've had a DFRobot one delivered im excited to start playing with.

I have few of them running with esphome. Bought everything from Ali as it was the cheapest for me. Printed some 3d cases and works like a charm.

        1. esp32c3 + ld2410 + bh1750
        2. esp32c3 + ld2450 + ltr390 + scd40
        3. esp32wroom + ld2410

Lots of diy guides on online. It's very easy using esphome once you get hang of it.

        Few helpful links
        1. https://smarthomescene.com/diy/diy-presence-sensor-with-hi-l…
        2. Esp32 + LD2450
        3. Apollo Automation github

        • nice, I have LD2450 arriving this week.

I only found out about the ESP32 super mini c3, so going to get a few of those in.

          • @impoze: LD2450 are good for moving targets. They are not perfectly reliable for still targets like sitting on couch, chair it might miss if sitting for long time. LD2410 has been almost 99.9% reliable for both moving & still targets. So based on your scenario choose the sensor.

I am using ld2450 for multi target detection in hallway so that I can have different zones using just one sensor. As there would hardly be a still target in that area, I find it reliable. But I tried it in dining room and sometimes it will miss the target sitting.

As an alternative, I've had good experiences with the Athom presence sensor (runs Esphome) (pricing is USD: https://www.athom.tech/blank-1/human-presence-sensor)

  • Anyone using these directly in Home Assistant? Via ZHA? Is it supported?

    • Its Wifi, so you connect into Home Assistant via the Homekit. Works great in Home Assistant

      • Yes, I set it up with HomeKit integration to make it work.

        • Thanks folks.

  • Ive been pondering trying these mmwave sensors, but for the price i think im happy sticking with the Xiaomi/Aqara PIR sensors

This opens up alot more then just is someone in the room, its more like:
      - is someone at the couch (Turn on TV)
      - is someone at office Desk (Turn on Lightbar and Monitor, Bring Laptop out of Sleep)
      - Is someone not in Kitchen (Turn off Kitchen Lights)

Also no need to wave hand to say i'm still in the room like you do with a PIR

      • I take you need one sensor in each room?

        • If it's open planned you can usually get away with a single one. But yea one per area

      • +1

True. Once they go a little cheaper i will give them a try

      • Correct, I use one with an Athom tasmota IR blaster to pause and unpause the TV/fetch/foxtel when people walk in/out of room :)

  • These can also be ceiling mounted for Fall Detection for Older residents

if (fall detected) then (disco lights):ON

You can buy ten tuya versions of this for that price.

    • Where is the tuya ones

    • +1

Are you talking about the same thing? Presence vs PIR sensors.

      • Yes mmwave presence etc

        • Link please

          • @asa79: But they are not a combo PIR + mmWave

          • @asa79: I assume these? Not bad! Zigbee version too.

          • +1

@asa79: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005004961301451.html These are the ones I'm using with zigbee2mqtt. Also has a rudimentary lux sensor inside.

@bdl: Yep these, lights follow me like a bad smell round the house it's great.

              • @Xistn: I'm sure you can add air quality sensors into the mix and have brown lights come on when you've had too many beans

                • @bdl: I got those sensors too! May or may not have tested with a fart…

            • @bdl: I have couple of tuya based zigbee mmwave sensors not the same but similar. They work great and haven't missed a bit for almost 6 months now, but remember they flood messages every second to your zigbee network. So if you have few of them, it will bring the zigbee network down. So won't recommend them if you plan on installing more than 2/3 in the house.

        • Anyone can share experience in how the Tuya or SmartLife would integrate with SmartThings: do they connect at all out of box with some available driver, how are the zones managed in SmartThings?

    • is the same as just making your own with esp32 + ld2410/sensor of your choice but I do think the FP2 is great with regards to its area segregation and multi tracking capability. I use one for my open space as I find it works well.

The rest of the house uses the cheaper diy alternative.

Anyone have a FP1? what is the advantage of the FP2?

  • Anyone can share experience in how the Aqara FP2 integrates with SmartThings (eg connect, zones)?

    • I don't think it does… You can connect the aqara to Google/Amazon, but not to Smart things (Samsung). You need Home Assistant to bring those ecosystems together.

  • Damn sold out already, these are good
