Can't quite recommend this one sadly, as other Breville products are quite good. Toasts unevenly, and we may have got a bad model but ours ended up failing after about a year and caused fuse trips. We got it at a similar deal price and ignored some of the reviews at our own peril.
EDIT: KangaDrew beat me to it!
I've owned 2 of these. The first one lasted 18 months. The second one lasted 3 months.
What mode of death?
The first one wouldn't pop so became a fire hazzard. The second one stopped working on the right side.
Thank you. Saved me from buying.
I just don't understand how companies can fail to make the most simple products in this industrially-advanced age. Electric toasters are what.. 120 year old technology? And the budget is a RRP of $111 for a product with a build of materials in the realm of $10? It shouldn't be that hard to come out with a functional product instead of 1 year warranty landfill.
We had one that lasted 5 months before one slot stopped working and wouldn't go down.
Are there any good toasters out there. All the breville ones seem quite hit&miss
If I were getting a new 4-slicer today, I'd go the Laura Ashley 4 slice toaster. Just wish they were a little less Grandma looking. I'd go with Elveden Blue, or maybe Wild Meadow. They come with warming racks which is a good idea.
I’ve owned a Breville BTA845 4 slice smart toaster for well over 10 years, and it’s still working perfectly fine, it’s a good toaster… The die cast stainless steel finish has some stains on it that won’t come off though, so I have been considering buying another nice shiny brand new one of the same model to replace it.
That's the model I'm actually looking at getting. 2 slot long.
Maybe you got an early model which hasn't been valued engineered?
After my 2 Breville's stopped working I bought the Baccarat The Artisan Toasty Slice. I can't fault it. It toasts both sides evenly.
I can't trust anything made by Baccarat lol, with all their crazy RRPs.
My Kmart 2-slice SS toaster is still going strong after 3+ years.
Dualit classic - hand made and spare parts are readily available. People report having them for 30+ years, and after all that time, you can still hand polish it.
Do you own one? Is that the newgen you are referencing? I've seen it isn't that consistent toasting though. Timer feels like it will break if you want to stop it early. Replacement elements also about 130 dollars for a set. Not exactly cheap.
Get a 2nd hand Sunbeam T-20
This is landfill. Worst toaster I ever owned.
I didn't believe you could make a bad toaster but they found a way. It'll toast unevenly the first batch and then burn any subsequent toast.
🍞👮
Found a good one you can recommend?
I've got one of these:
https://www.kmart.com.au/product/4-slice-stainless-steel-toa…has lasted us for 3+ years.
Does the job, nothing fancy, and looks decent with stainless steel. Not wide enough for extra large sourdough slice.
I've had this toaster for around 3 years now and haven't had any issues. Only been used a few times a week though.
same here!
This made me look at other toaster deals and I ended up getting the sunbeam arise toaster and kettle
May wanna check Product Reviews first…
