Ok I got this and I think it is a good deal, now I'm not so sure, figured I'd share it and let people tell me if I'm wrong.

$148 USD for the 8GB ram version of Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2024, including the Lenovo Pen. This was $254.76 for me in AUD, including tax (GST is added on check-out), excluding coupon.

11" inch tablet, 1920*1200, 90Hz refresh rate, with 8GB ram and Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor. You can get it without the pen for less.

This is the "Global ROM" version - this seemed like a plus to me, but I now have second thoughts and maybe it's better to get China ROM and then flash it yourself? (see this comment)

Pretty slow delivery - said it may take 3 weeks in my case.

It has the bootloader warning so it's a fake global ROM. No updates, no Widevine L1, no Netflix HD and probably a very buggy ROM.

    • Thank you Clear! I actually just added a link to your comment from a past post. Given what you've said I am actually considering cancelling my purchase and going for a China ROM. It sounds like the global ROM is a bad idea.

Cancelling is probably a good idea. It's a nightmare trying to convert a dodgy ROM to the proper original ROM.

    • @Clear, any discounts for this tablet with a proper ROM ?

      • I doubt..This pad only supposed to sell in China, not global wide hence no other proper ROM rather than original Chinese ROM which don't ship with Google framework. It's pain to add Google on it.

    • From what I know, Chinese brand android devices don't have Google preinstalled. To sell internationally, the bootloader must be unlocked hence they can either install Global ROMs on it (if there are Global ROMs), or, they would install unsigned applications including google framework.

I'm using Mi phone which original shipped with Chinese firmware and I have to unlock the bootloader to install EU firmware.

Regarding updates, there are third parties to make different Roms for Mi phone hence I can swap easily between those, however it doesn't seems have much firmware for Xiaoxin Pad 2024 hence I suppose updates would be issues if you care about this.

      • For Lenovo's ZUI and Xiaomi MIUI/HyperOS you can enable Google Services in Settings. Then you can use the Lenovo/Xiaomi app store to download Google Play or sideload from elsewhere. After that you get full Google functionality.

Some really older devices from these brands may not have the functionality. I know the Xiaoxin and Xiaomi Pads do.

In the case of this tablet you're getting a fake global ROM. To convert a Chinese Xiaoxin running ZUI to the official Global ROM no bootloader unlocking is required. Rather you use the Lenovo RSA tool to install the new ROM.

      Dodgy tablet.

  • I have one of these. It works great although I wish the screen was brighter for outside use. The global rom on mine works fine.

I assume this one is the genuine/non-dodgy one?
