  • You have to love Amazon, apparently it’s the No1 best seller in laser printers!

    • Wireless – easily print from tablets and smartphones

Note that the ET-2810 is not AirPrint compatible. Compatibility list here.

    • I have no issues from my Macbook, Ipad, or Galaxy Flip 5.

      • Did you use AirPrint from your MacBook or iPad?

        • -1

No. Its an ET4750 and works fine on normal drivers.

          • @BewareOfThe Dog: ET-4750 is on the list as AirPrint compatible. Different printer to this one.

            • @P1xellat3d: as far as i know, I dont use airprint, but could be mistaken. I print to an ip address across the network.

Maintenance tank is a hassle to replace, planned obsolescence imo

epson Ecotank printers are great, highly recommended if you do a decent amount of printing,

  • Will these dry out if you only use them every now and then?
Is the quality comparable to laser? My last inkjet was the $10 Dell one (thanks Ozbargain) which I gave away once the nozzles dried up.

    • +1

Yes, I left mine for about a month and it dried up.

I can't be bothered cleaning the nozzles…I'll get around to it one day.

      • I highly recommend the Brother printers that have a similar ink tank design. I bought one about 3 years ago and it's been flawless. Every other printer I've had previous has been an absolute PITA.

  • Printer manufacturers selling reasonably priced refills.. whats the catch?

    • +2

Theyve been on the market for @ 7 years. You pay more up front, hence reduced running costs.

  • Is there a difference between the two? Which one is better?

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/epson-ecot…

    • Been trying to figure that out too.

    • +3

Doesn't seem to be. Officeworks often gets "exclusive" models which are the same thing with a different model number (probably to avoid price matching with other stores)
You can see the same thing with some of the Brother printers they carry.

      • There is almost a 2kg diff in weight in the specs

        • Not on Epson site

          https://www.epson.com.au/products/ecotank/ET-2810_Specs.asp
          https://www.epson.com.au/products/ecotank/ET-2811_Specs.asp

You'll notice on Epson it says the 2811 is available at Officeworks but nowhere else so does appear to just be an OW exclusive version.

          • @bamzero: Amazon weight/size often inconsistent and may include packaging. I agree it seems to be the same, and someone reported that the 2811 is detected as 2810.

        • +2

Its the extra Black Ink Bottle that must weigh more (although the epson site says they weight the same)..🤣

          Epson EcoTank ET-2811
          Instruction manual
          CD-ROM for product setup
          Power cord
          Initial ink bottles: 2 x 522 Black, 1 x 522 Cyan, 1 x 522 Magenta & 1 x 522 Yellow

Caveat - This is from Epsons website specs . Without buying one I cant be sure that there really is 2 Black bottles.

@RockyRaccoon: Actually, good catch… it could do.

OW: This printer includes enough ink to print up to 8,100 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour.
A: Includes Enough Ink to Print up to 3,600 pages black / 6,500 colour

    • I just placed an order for the OW one.

They're the same printer, as mentioned already the Officeworks one just comes with an additional bottle of black ink. That and one is white vs black.

I've noticed similar things with Officeworks products (not just printers) before, like colour differences, more ink etc etc but the same product otherwise. Like 'bamzero' said, for them it's one less item that people can price beat on.

      • Yep, just picked one up from OW (they had a crapload stacked up there) and can confirm 2 bottles of black. Doesn't specifically mention number of bottles anywhere but box says black yield is 8100 and refill is 4500. The only thing I didn't really grasp from the photos is how tiny the thing is after seeing the display unit. I'm too used to laser MFCs…

Hopefully this is the answer to my question. In-laws were happy to give it a go so we'll see what it's like soon.
