  • whats the length of this strip?

    • +1

      The 55-65" is 3.8m and the 75-85" is 5m

      • Which length would you recommend for a 70" TV? Wonder if calibration would be affected.

  • +1

How does the 3S compare to the T2 and the T3 Lite? How many LEDs per strip?

    • +1

The 3S has a RGBIC+W lightstrip with an upgraded camera, and is matter compatible. It's 30 LEDs per meter.

      • @CleverGear can you please confirm if it's normal for a T1 to show a blue tinge during black or grey TV scenes? White scenes aren't affected.

Seriously considering upgrading my T1 if the new RGBIC+W strip will address this issue. I don't need Matter support, already happy with Alexa integration which works much faster than the official Govee Android app.

My two T1s always shows a bit of blue light during dark scenes, but only go completely dark after 5 seconds of totally black scenes. Not sure if it's my calibration, the Govee product itself, or because I'm using LCD panels which suffer blue tinged backlight creep inherent with the technology. Maybe an OLED wouldn't have the same issue? I don't know. Thanks in advance!

I've got a Govee setup for my tv at home, and look, I've seen videos of them working well but christ knows how they did it outside of people just saying to calibrate it, but no real instructions on how to do it.
Mine just puts random purple around parts,.. for reasons.
It's ok as a bit of a gimic, but really that's about it. So just my 2c, don't expect too much.

    • I’ve had. A good experience with my T1. I get what you’re saying tho. for me, when it works it’s great. When the colours are off, it’s noticeable.

    • I'm super happy with my two T1 kits. Only issue is that when the screen is dark or grey the Govee strips show a bit of a blue tinge, but I have a feeling it's because the LCD panels emit a bit of blue light all the time. Haven't experimented with adjusting the white balance of the TV backlight to see if that might help, not sure if it's even possible.

Results might depend on your particular movie choices. Watched Kung Fu Panda 3 the other night for the first time, it was basically made for the Govee with lots of bright comic book style split screen scenes, looked incredible. Watched Kung Fu Panda 4 last night and it was far less impressive, didn't really notice the lights during the movie.

If you have an Android TV try installing "TV Calibration" by "VMApps" - it has a Govee calibration screen and a rainbow pattern test. YouTube also has a bunch of Govee calibration videos with orange dots and/or swirling rainbow patterns to test.

I would prefer if the strip went completely dark during black scenes (currently it waits 5 seconds to go dark) but Govee have made the choice not to for some reason.

Seriously considering buying this 3S as the white strip might solve the blue tinge issue.

Might have to give it another go at some point, thanks for the heads up

I had better results mounting the camera upside down on the bottom of the TV. I think it avoided reflections from the TV stand. It was very hard to calibrate on a small phone screen so I borrowed an Android tablet with a big screen.

Here's a video on how to tastefully hide the camera below the screen if it's on a stand:

          Good luck!

Hi team, enjoyed your t1 on our 65”.
Now have a 98”, any future plans? Kind of niche I guess.

    Would the 85” potentially work?

    • +2

Haha, that's huge. Unfortunately, the maximum is 85". It won't calibrate properly for a 98".

      • Yeah, to be honest, not much wall left for the lights anyways but perhaps camera integration to work with all the light bars/stands in the future?

        • +1

Yeah fair enough. We'll definitely pass on the suggestion! We work very closely with Govee to bring in new products and software updates in Australia and New Zealand.

  • I just purchased the T2 from amazon. Is the 3S better than T2?

    • +2

      Here's a breakdown.

      T2
RGBIC, 60 LEDs per metre, dual camera

      3S
RGBIC + W 30 LEDs per metre, single camera, matter compatible

Although the 3S has a single camera the capability is the same as the dual camera on the T2

      • Is there a version of the 3S with 60 LED/m? It feels like each of the products is compromising on one of the features the others have.

        • +1

Unfortunately not for the 3S but we will be releasing a HDMI 2.1 sync box which will have 75 LED/meter later this year :)

    • The dilemma I’m seeing is that the 3S and T3 Lite are both partial upgrades.

I’m surprised they haven’t released a 3 Pro version with RGBICW, 60 LED/m and the upgraded camera.

  • +1

is it possible to set this up with a projector?

    • Unfortunately not with a projector :(

You can still get some nice ambience with the light bars and floor lamp though!

  • +2

Can you mount it on a TV unit under the tv or no?

  • I have around 98-99" projector screen, I suspect you don't have the one with this size? thanks

    • +2

Sorry, unfortunately this product won't work with a projector. You can still use the other Govee products to create lighting ambience in the room
