    top-tier technology with unbeatable value

Well I guess your statement is potentially at least half accurate.
But it's clearly misleading to claim either of those brands as 'top tier' brands.
You'd be hard pressed to even find a local review on that inverter

  • Why don't you guys do terracota tiles?

We have those and are planning to get solar.

    • +1

      PITA factor.

    • +1

Likely risk v reward ratio is just not worth the hassle and resulting issues (multiple broken tiles, hard to get replacements, unnoticed damaged tiles and resulting leaking roofs, more fiddly/time consuming install)

    • -2

The installation team that does the job is in high demand, and they hate working on Terracotta roofs these days, and there is no shortage of work for them so until they have to do it again, it's just not an option at the moment.

    • +1

I’d never get solar put on terracotta tile roof again.

So many broken tiles and water leaks.

      • Yeah, you defintiely have to show more love and care with a Terracotta tile roof or this will definitely happen. The thing is most national company's DO NOT CARE about their customers ONE LITTLE BIT, and that's real… so in regards to sales, come what may.

  • +1

Hit up Arise solar and zip solar for quotes then make them price beat each other. There’s no shortage of solar installers that’s for sure!

  • Solar tax is coming

    • Don't know why your down voted as its true, we will be charged soon for kw we put back into the grid… Almost need a big heatsink to waste the electricity gained to avoid paying additional taxes

      • Don't know why your down voted as its true, we will be charged soon for kw we put back into the grid…

Probably because that's incorrect would be my guess.
The upcoming proposed pricing models implement a 'TOU' on solar export pricing, making exports worth less (eg 2c less) during 'peak' export periods.
So instead of 5c export during 'normal' time, you get 3c during 'peak' time (numbers used as random examples)

At no point in the proposed pricing models do solar exports come with a negative feed in cost base.

        • +1

You’re actually wrong. Charging for solar exporting is exactly what’s being discussed in the energy market right now.

          https://www.ausgrid.com.au/-/media/Documents/Tariff/Solar-Fa…

That’s ausgrid, SAPN have confirmed they are wanting this by 2025 and all Victorian networks are watching very closely (and since Powercor, United and Citipower are all owned by the same company you can bet if one rolls it out and the AER approves the rest will follow.)

2 way pricing is coming and will be rolled out by all networks. Currently it won’t hit many standard house holds as export limit won’t be reached, but if anyone said 5 years ago there would be “any charge” for solar export you would be laughed at.

He is right, a solar tax is incoming and after being in the industry for 10 plus years (energy not solar) this will happen. It will follow the same roll out as smart meter, TOU tariffs, spot demand and rolling demand which keeps getting sold as good for the consumer, but somehow is never cheaper and only benefits the networks.

@Iwantthebestprice: Well, an over-supply of electricity at certain times is an issue that needs to be addressed. If we want reach 100% renewables we have to over-build capacity. But not all of that capacity can put power into the grid at all times.

Solar and wind farms are built with the option to curtail output. They don't get permission to connect to the grid otherwise.

Some home owners will refuse to let grid operators tell them how much power they can produce (and export). They will have to pay the price, with negative feed in tariffs.

Most others will find a way to reduce output rather than be slugged by negative prices. Each to their own.

      • or you know, an EV.

  • Last time I looked up Hypontechs office in Sydney (4 years ago) it was an apartment building.

    • Bluesun picked them up now. 5kw, 8kw and the Smart Meter.
