Recommended Monitor Arm/Stand for WFH Office Set up

Hi all, looking at improving my WFH office set up by obtaining a/dual monitor arm/stand. Wondering what people recommend from experience before I trust online 'reviews'.

Specs I am looking for; can be single or dual arm, prefer bolt/fix to desk style (vs flat stand), support 27-32 inch monitor.

I'm currently using an older 27 inch BenQ Zowie full hd monitor, which I have no reason to dispose of, but am looking to add a second 27-32 inch monitor.

Most monitor arms provide VESA mount and a weight limit of 7-8kgs but I don't know what else to look for.

Couple of options I am looking at;

Amazon;

Single display: MOUNTUP Single Monitor Desk Mount, Adjustable Gas Spring Monitor Arm Support Max 32 Inch, 4.4-17.6lbs Screen, Computer Monitor Stand Holder with Clamp/Grommet Mounting Base, VESA Mount Bracket, MU0004 https://amzn.asia/d/09pCBbTv

Dual display: MOUNTUP Dual Monitor Stand for Desk, Adjustable Gas Spring Double Monitor Mount Holds 4.4-17.6 lbs and 13-32 Inch Screens, Monitor Arms for 2 Monitors, VESA 75x75 100x100 with C-clamp& Grommet https://amzn.asia/d/0gtb63zN

Kogan dual display: Kogan Full Motion Gas Spring Dual Mount for 17"-32" Monitor https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-full-motion-gas-spring-du…

Any feedback would help from people with a product they do or don't recommend.

  • I know you are discussing Single and Dual Arms. But had one of these for my 3 x 27" screens. I still have it but don't use it anymore. Had it for roughly 4-5 years.

    It looks like the brand is Acatana. Would recommend.

    I also have https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/keji-dual-… and it is fine and works well for 24" monitors.

    • Looks pretty solid. I don't think I'll be needing a triple display any time soon, and some advice below, which makes sense, is to look at a seperate arm per monitor to reduce the load on the central mount.

    The North Bayou F80 are popular on OzBargain (and the one I currently use), but currently out of stock at Amazon AU.

      I've used the NB ones for years with no problem WFH +1

      • Those look good, I will set up an alert for when back in stock.

    Unless you are lacking desk space, I would strongly recommend that you get two individual monitor arms rather than a dual monitor arm because there more limitations on the positioning of the monitor when they are attached to the same point. If you must get a dual monitor arm, pay attention to the mounting system - for example, the Amazon example you showed utilising the same mounting system for both the single and dual monitor arms - which means that it is holding significantly more weight on the same mount in the dual montior arm.

    I have also found that the cheaper monitor arms are optimistic about the weight that they can hold. I have 2 Yesdex monitor arms with basically identical specs that needed to be tightened significantly to hold up a ~3kg 24" screen - which is significantly lighter than the screen that you currently have.

      This, I completely regret getting a dual arm one thinking it'd be simpler. Reality is you need it in exactly the right spot on the desk to get the two monitors in the right spot, it takes a lot of planning to get exactly right.

    • Yes. I got a double monitor arm and the combined weight started to crack the edge of the desk.
      Switched to 2 singles and no problems.

      • This sounds like good advice.

    +2 for North Bayou… one for each of my monitors. Never had an issue/risk - that's with 2 x 34"

  • Ive had dual monitor arm on my 2 x 24 inch monitors for a WFH case for over 3 years, I haven’t had any issues. I think it depends on how large your monitors are. Sounds like anything over 24 inch may have issues?

    Purchased a North Bayou NB100 after the positive feedback on the other models, the popular one was out of stock but I'll see how this one goes and keep an eye on when it's back for any second arm I'm after.

    I would then have to buy an additional monitor…….that would seem to be a whole other topics all together, might put up a post for advice on that then. Thanks everyone

    • link to the one you purchased?

        • All set up now, can provide it's easy to install, even on your own at the end (bolting on the screen).

          Seems pretty good so far, quite an amount of adjustment on the arm and the fixing rotates for landscape / portrait. No 'tilt' function though so if that's important maybe look at other options.
