Fees may apply for certain AI features at the end of 2025.

    wow subscription model

    • +1

Yep, cause they are basically just using a reskinned Google Bard/Gemini.

Note: The subscription fees applies to all devices that supports Galaxy AI (ie. Phones).

    • +8

for earbuds of all things. nuts.

    • wow subscription model

dang hopefully it doesnt apply for the ring (not released in AU yet, and doesnt appear to have any AI related stuff - just analytics)

      • The Galaxy Ring has been 'enhanced with Galaxy AI' as per their US product page

        • +1

          Noooooooo.

I thought their excuse for a more expensive ring (compared to Oura) was that it does not require subscription.
I genuinely hope the enhanced with Galaxy AI is more talking about something that does not require subscription (i.e. we found an algorithm for better sleep tracking using AI, or somehting like that).

          • +1

@iridiumstem: Samsung Health is confirmed as not requiring a subscription. I believe with AI-related subscriptions, it will refer to services that are not able to be done on-board by the device or your phone, i.e. it requires a cloud service to crunch the data.

So the charge will be fair.

          • @iridiumstem: I've read it will need a subscription for things like advanced health features. And they're probably only unlocked if you use a Galaxy phone.

And all i want is NFC payments. None of the health stuff. I'm assuming its a regulatory thing stopping anyone other than the short-lived Halo from having payments enabled. Only way seems to be having a EU or USA bank account to tie Curve or whatever to.

            • @hotphil: And all i want is NFC payments
just stick nfc sticker on your finger palm forehead or wrist or …..

              • +1

@CyberMurning: I remember how banks handed out nfc keychain when Apple Pay was becoming a thing, I wonder if those are still available.

              • +2

@CyberMurning: Sadly, those don't support payments.

Ideally I want an implant, but even the ones they do in UK are workarounds (dissolve an existing card, monkey around, implant it) so they become useless when the card expiry date is reached

                • @hotphil: ah well, maybe another 20 years. i really want it too. keyless, walletless, cardless, cashless.

      • Didn't know about the ring. Any idea if it will be released in AU?

      • 2060 and some company will probably require babies to "subscribe" to life on day 1. The subscription model and free to play model will be the death of good content/products.

Buds3 Pro features a vivid new lightning design adorned with LED Blade Lights to brighten your listening.

Sounds like a great way to waste battery with no benefit whatsoever

    • +6

The LED's power draw is negligible and you could probably turn it off

    • Its can turn on and off and can change for night time running maybe…??

    • +4

What's going on with your ears Bob? ..
What?.. Oh you mean my blade lights?
      Your what ?…
BLADE lights. They're designed to brighten my listening..

      • +2

correction: They're designed to show off my buds

      • +1

YES BLADE lights. much much much better than normal lights because they BLADE.

  • Only shows $50 credit when I check.

    • +5

      Buds3 is $50
      Buds3 Pro is $80

Deal post is for the Pro (both standard and pro are the same price)

      • Ah yes, found them. Great deal with the $80 credit. Its a shame it doesnt work with ZIP10OFF.

        • When I put through the pre-order I had $15 promotion applied. Not exactly sure what promotion though….and I don't know how to check.

          Total paid was $283.00

After 2% cashback on GCs, that's $277.34 and then the $80 credit after the order, that works out to $197.34.

          Not too bad imo

          • +2

            @bleemo: I was able to apply ZIP10OFF.

  • I wonder if transparency mode will be better than Buds1 Pro.

  • Go for Pro 3 or better for Pro 2?

    • +6

Yeah gopro 3 is better than 2

    • +1

The major difference would be the 'stem/bladed' design on the new Buds3 Pro.

    • +1

I was looking forward for the Pro 3 a year ago and now I am not buying as I don't like airpods shape

  • -6

If i wanted apple style, would get airpods pro. Much better sound and voice cancelling than samsung. Have both

    • Wait till you try Aurvana Ace 2

      • +1

        Creative? wait really?

thought creative was selling a lot of cheaply made stuff. I mean some of it is ok quality but always thought overpriced at retail. never thought any of their products will compare to flagship stuff from other brands.

    • +6

Probably Buds3 Pro for better Ecosystem compatibility with Samsung phones.

      • +1

And Android phones in general, at least you're able to download the Galaxy Wearables app and customise them there on any Android device. The GW app isn't available on iOS.

      • -1

Maybe. I use the airpods with my ipad and the NC is insane on them. Significantly better than when using a buds pro with my S23U

Plus with all variations of Samsung buds, ive noticed they are prone to micro cracks at some point in time . Even the cases have developed micro cracks around usb c port just sitting on a desk.

        • +6

Sounds like someone abuses there things, I own every Galaxy buds since Galaxy Buds+ excluding Galaxy buds live and none have cracked or had any issues at all.

          • -1

@Axelstrife: No abuse. Just random cracks. Didnt bother replacing as i buy them very cheap

          • @Axelstrife: @axelstrife I have the Galaxy Buds+ and use it a lot just curious of your experience in regards to improvements between the iterations since. Read mixed reviews with battery usage since the + and the + not suiting everyone's ears but otherwise comparable. Will you upgrade again to the latest and why? In easternculture's defence have had a slight chip out of my case as mentioned by easternculture but I keep it in my front pocket so expected.

    • +3

Most reviews so far suggest the buds 3 have better audio and voice cancelling.

The buds 3 are obviously way newer so have an advantage in that space though.

      • -3

Guess ill wait a few months and grab one for less than a hundy (like i did with my buds pro 1 and 2) after marketplace gets flooded.

Also grabbed a brand new buds2 for $30 a few days ago

        • +8

brand new buds2 for $30 a few days ago

Make sure they are genuine. There's A LOT of fake out there.

          • @RichardL: 100% genuine as per galaxy app

            • @easternculture: care to show proof??

              • @ruztynail: Proof of what?

Most people dont know, but if you want cheap items on marketplace, only search and buy from rich suburbs. Its usually worth the 1 to 2 hr trip especially when they are selling a 2k item for a few hundred bucks

                • @easternculture: You mentioned above you got the buds 2 for $30 as per galaxy app.. i'm asking you to show your receipt of purchase..

thn your most recent post above talks about "marketplace" which has nothing to do with the app..

                  so what gives?

                  • @ruztynail: No reciept. It was from marketplace. Sealed item.

Genuine item as confirmed by wearable app

                    • +1

@easternculture: ahhhh okok. got you. its FB market place okies. thanks

                      • @ruztynail: Yeah. The days of buying from B&M stores are over for me. I just put a search alert of what im after and eventually buy it at a bargain price (if i dont have time to physically search)

    • The only thing better on Apple is the mic sensitivity as it's closer but uglier & less comfortable & easier to fall, particularly vs Galaxy Buds Live if you use for sleep meditation.

      • the one thing I read/heard a lot is nothing comes close to apple's natural sounding ambient mode.

but at the same time I have never owned airpods or anything in similar price range so can't confirm it myself. 😁

    • +1

Didnt realise you got the b3p already?

  • How does it compare with my Anko that I bought 1.5 years ago and still goes strong.

It turns on automatically when casing is opened, connects seemlessly to my phone, has a button for start/stop, has 3 hours or so charge, has additional casing charge, is stylish, and charged with USB-C also.

    p.s. bought for $25

    • +4

      About $270 more

How does it compare with my Anko

    • +1

fine if you only listen to podcasts/2GB but if you want something with better audio quality/ANC this is obviously miles better with a price tag to match

      • I prefer KMs, but still enjoy Miles Davis.

    • +1

      Anko xD

I can't even begin to think about how bad the sound quality is on them compared to the Buds

  • Should have just made it $300 so I can claim GST from TRS.

    • just add a $2 item? Like some floss..

      • +1

I guess I have to bring the floss to Japan then.

        • You'll be grateful you did! Thank me later ;)

        • +1

got me thinking, what's the weirdest combination of things to make the TRS agent go "hmmmm"

      • hmm good one. always looked for $1-$2 stuff to add to order to help push me over the spend when not on prime.

last time I got a "spend any amount in certain category" and get $10 credit. luckily was on prime that month and just ordered laundry marker for $1.05, so claimed $9 savings easily.

that marker is like $3 now so needed some other alternatives. used to have aussie made nylon cable ties that were always on backorder. it was an easy option because worst case extra cable ties, best case it gets cancelled after a month. couldn't find those last time.

    • I was thinking the same as I'm going overseas soon. That additional $2 should fall into the same category, don't you think?

      • It doesn't matter which category, as long as it's under the same ABN.

  • Can these be used with Google Assistant?

  • These will glow too

  • Thanks OP, ordered one. Guess I will be returning my buds 3 when it arrives from Samsung

    • How does it work if you use the voucher they gave? will you get voucher or credit back to your bank?

    • +1

You can jump and chat as ask Samsung Rep to cancel those, and refund. So many did that successfully

      • The Samsung Rep told me he can't return the voucher if I cancel it. :(

      • My order is in "Shipped" hence I will have to wait until it arrives. I hope by then I can still return it with the loophole.

        • Hoping the same. Want to return my buds and hopefully get a refund without affecting the phone cost

          • @HotPie: Hey, did you manage to return your buds 3?

I requested my return 2 weeks ago, received a call from Samsung last Monday and was told to send them photos to prove the item is sealed for them to generate a return label.

Haven't heard anything since, so I sent them a reminder. Received this in the morning
"Thank you for your response, I am currently experiencing technical issues that is preventing me from initiating your return request at this time.

Please know that I have raised this to our relevant team who are currently working on resolving this issue. I will provide you with an update once I have

            Initiated your return request."

My gut feeling they probably will say no to my return.

            • @moneytomyway: I managed to cancel via chat last Thursday and they sent me an email to confirm. Still havent got my credit back though

              • @HotPie: Lucky you. Firstly I talked to chat, but I had to go through the process which is waiting for a call.

                • @moneytomyway: Sort of lucky. Still waiting for my refund. Had to contact them today and my order wasnt updated so have to wait longer now.

                  • @HotPie: Finally received my return label.

                    How's the refund coming along?

Looking at the order, it seems like they didn't ask to send back to the free case that comes with it xD

                    • @moneytomyway: Thats great. Have to contact them again. Pain in the backside

                      • @HotPie: Ya Samsung really does has one of the worst customer service.

  • Holy heck did they f*#$$ these up. The 2Pros are what I use for riding my motorcycle. They cut down noise noise substantially, can listen to music and doesn't hurt my ears while wearing a helmet.

Guess, I'll have to look at something else when the buds2 pro don't cut it anymore.

  • +1

great just got the pros from EPP for my missus for $279.30 thinking i was smart.

at least i got a clear case thrown in :(:(

    • You can jump and chat as ask Samsung Rep to cancel those, and refund. So many did that successfully

  • Wouldn't touch Samsung peripherals with a shitty stick given the clear contempt they have for their customers.

    • +1

Fort those who neg'ed, care to share your opinions?

      • +1

yeah I was going to say hawk is right. they are terrible to deal with directly.

in other words don't make the mistake of buying from them direct. always go to retailer then you actually have a chance of getting something back.

otherwise horror stories for even thousand dollar TV's and washing machines. even when mentioning going to ACL they will just stop responding and you are stuck with nothing.

  • +4

Looks like they pulled the offer.

I wonder if they priced it incorrectly (ie. buds3 price).

    • seems the case since non pro is going at $298 with $50 credit.

I think Amazon normally would honour the orders that have been placed.

  • Wow, Gone so quick, party is over.

  • +3

Is it me or the new Galaxy AI watch ultra and this buds pro seems to be a copy and paste of Apple stuff ? Like the watch literally has the same band with a few more holes

    • +2

How can it be a copy if it has few more holes?

    • Hi, apple Marketing. Isn't everything Apple does (better) copy of someone's invention with less marketing budget?
This copy is the same way - better copy ;)

    • +3

Apple has copied Samsung for literally over 15 years. If you see a feature on a samsung phone, you'll see it on an apple phone 5 years later and watch apple sheep get excited over "new tech"
