Looks like only once. Well that combined with 1&1 makes 6 $0.99 domains so I'm happy. Much prefer name cheap though thats for sure
They do this deal all the time, not bargain imo

what is 1&1's management interface like. namecheap has a really comprehensive interface with support for dynamic dns. is 1&1's ok?
The interface is fine, but don't think it handles Dyn DNS directly from what I can see.
Instead of 1and1 managing your Dynnamic IP (as I believe namecheap does) you would need set the DNS as whoever looks after your dyn DNS.
I don't like 1&1 for the fact that it takes like 10-48 hours to register your domain, its not instant. But for $0.99 I will seriously like anything :)
Also it's worth noting that in their terms it states the following:
Limit five $0.99 .com orders per customer
