Is My Motherboard Compatible with This SSD?

I brought this deal from tech fast with an rtx 3060 + i5 12400F (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832412)

I wanted to add another SSD so I looked at my motherboard and it's a Chinese one called koloe h610m4-plusZ there isn't much online about it but somebody found an image in an old forum, and I'm still not sure if this one will fit (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832426#)

Picture of motherboard: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Sdd68be421a6a45b196fc513ea1d6e43f…

SSD I wanted to buy: https://www.amazon.com.au/CORSAIR-MP600-Mini-PCIe-Gen4/dp/B0…

Thanks

  • I'm assuming the full size M.2 Slot to the left of the CMOS battery is populated by the SSD that came with the pre-built?

If so, it might be cheaper to get a 2.5" SSD and plug into SATA instead of a M.2 2230 SSD.

    • I'm a PC guru in software but not so much in hardware, is this part of my case for mounting the 2.5 SSD? https://ibb.co/kGyTPcp

Also btw, I'm pretty sure the m.2 SSD near the battery/GPU is there. https://imgbb.com/Lpc1Jb2

That's where you would mount it, assuming they provided the brackets. You'll also need a SATA Cable to connect the 2.5" SSD.

Which most likely would be populated by the Crucial M.2 NVMe SSD that has your operating system (based on the deal post).

        • Sorry btw if this seems dumb but is any of this stuff for mounting the SSD?

          • @YeahLiam: The long cable in the bag on the right is the SATA Cable.

Based on the bags of screws, I'm going to assume the rubber circle grommets are to mount the 2.5" SSD (so no brackets are required).

Unbelieveable that OP bought a motherboard without knowing the SSD specs.

Looking at the link it says 500GB NVMe (Crucial normally)

So comes with a 500GB SSD already - likely Crucial brand.

Also comes with 4 x SATA3 connections so OP could add a SATA SSD.

      So options for OP are:

      1. Remove 500GB NVMe SSD and replace with 1TB SSD NVM - but this is very wasteful

      2. Keep the "faster" 500GB NVMe as the main system drive and add a 1TB Sata SSD as the "Files/Storage" drive

There is your answer without looking at what OP purchased

    • It looks like there's a short slot just above the long PCIe slot.

  • Maybe an actual photo of the motherboard with stuff plugged in and what is already there? That would help.

  • The length of that 30mm slot looks right, but the keying looks wrong for an M.2 2230 SSD. So I don't know what it is.

If you have an M.2 2280 SSD in the other longer slot, see if it will plug into the short one too. No need to screw it down at the other end, just see if it plugs in. If it does a 2230 SSD will fit.

    • looks like it's an mSATA slot to me, this should fit in it - https://www.amazon.com.au/Kingston-KC600-1024GB-SATA3-mSATA/…

edit: Or I'm looking at that slot backwards and it's a key e wifi card. But going by the arrow it goes in the left hand side

looks like a E-key slot for WiFI isn't it ? not mSATA.

      • Definitely not mSATA. mSATA has two mounting screws, one each side, not one in the centre like M.2.

        • Yeah, I'm wrong, for some reason I thought it went in the side the arrow was on. The screw looks in the right place for a e key wifi.
