Adventuridge Ultra Light Hiking/Trekking Table $19.99 @ ALDI Special Buys

300

I grabbed one yesterday, and found it out pretty light at 650 gram and grab one more today.

Competitive one much costly than this one.

Table surface is not water proof, just kind of fabric. But it is ultra light.

it shows hiking chair photo instead of table, I got plenty of these chairs from Coles or Bunnings around 20 bucks last few years, last week coles tried get rid of similar hiking chair at 5 bucks, I got two more.

    • hmm pays to check the clearance section. i might have a look see if my local is clearing them too. i like these style chairs but they dont last forever

I've had a helinox for 12 years and it's still in perfect condition.
Sometimes the best value purchases are the most expensive option.

        • Similar, have the original helionix version for 9 years, used often and in perfect working order.

    • its a dual product page, click the other photos

    • Are they comfortable to sit in?

      • I've seen many buttcheeks on table edges

Yes, they are comfy. It allows your back stretch bit.

  • Would this work as a beach chair (or will the legs sink into the sand)?

    • I don't imagine these would work too well on the beach.

With other brands, there's a ground sheet that goes underneath. You may be able to find something that is compatible.

    • they are working fairly on the beach, the feet trapped into sand a bit, but they are still comfy due to they almost same height with traditional beach chair.

These chair very compact and light comparing with old fashion beach chairs.

You could get 4 tennis balls and put a hole in each. Then just stick one on the end of each leg.

  • is this a convertible chair/table, or is 2 options available (chair or table)?

    • Two options

should be fine, but durability and longevity always scares me with ultralight stuff.

    • i got a couple of chairs from coles and bunnings, they are survived from Wilsons prom and GOW multi days hiking. I just throw chairs to kids asking them unpack and pack them during the trips. Maintain good conditions after these trips. I just washed the fabric due to much dust stains.

    Helinox ripoffs

    • -1

I mean helinox are absolute rip offs now price wise.

I was annoyed paying around $100, now they are double or triple that.

Though I am annoyed that a few years later they bring out an XL version of my chair with more space and height.

    • Helinox ripped off Alite Designs

  • Do these things really last? I checked one in the store and it felt extremely flimsy, and laughed at the 120kg weight capacity. Just looking at the design of the feet got me to thinking you'd want to have it on a very firm surface.

In my experience, Aldi stuff is pretty bad quality (not all things, to be fair). This type of product is trying to balance between being strong to hold people, with being light as possible, whilst also being cheap. I think it's going to compromise on strength first up. If it was made of titanium or steel with titanium bolts/pins, then I'd trust it. But it wouldn't be cheap then.

aluminium alloy is good material to achieve great performance and cost effective, helinox is a pioneer to apply aluminium material in hiking furniture gear.

Helinox applied high grade aluminium/magnesium alloy comparing cheap brand fabricating furniture by relative low/medium alloy, that is reason why it can be extremely light and durable. Also, costly.

Actually they don't use that special of an aluminium at all it's most likely also TH72M that they use for tent poles.

Their poles are contract manufactured by DAC in Korea.

They own lots of patents for the chair frame designs though. And they have done really well with the chair body material for density vs strength.

  • Have had a few of these similar ones.

I am 100kg and one broke after a few uses, one leg snapped.

Else they work ok instead of bringing a bigger/heavier chair.

Sink a fair bit in sand.

    • Thanks, this will save a fair bit of embarrassment around the campsite. Pass, I guess.

      • I pack them for the kids now to save on space. I have used it in hike trips or one nighters with non-issue mostly.

  • I've had the mountain design version which looks identical it was comfortable but legs sink on anything except hard ground eg river pebbles. The Nemo Moonlite adjustable hiking chair is so comfortable and has bigger feet, better than the Helinox imho

  • I’ve had several different of these ultralight chairs , and they’re fine to keep your ass off the ground when travelling lightweight overnight style , but they make super lightweight full sized chairs now . so I just make room and strap on one of those to the bike now , especially when travelling long distances and you need to relax at the end of the day .

    • what do you use?

      • I am using an Oztrail - Duralight Quadchair .

  • I saw these in Aldi, they look like they made for children, pygmies and dwafts. Not for my 6’4’ frame.

    • I got something that looks the same on Temu for a 6 day hike. I'm 6.3 and found it very comfortable. Can feel a little unstable initially getting in as it's a bit of a different seating position and lower to the ground.

    • I'm the same height and they're fine. Obviously not as comfortable as a large deck chair, but they're for an entirely different use case.

    • I'm 6'2", saw one set up and my 5yo sat in it, then I tried it. Surprisingly comfortable even for me. It's low, but not too much. The bag has loops each end so can sling under chair frame to hold stuff. Bought 3+table and collectively smaller than one of my old camp chairs. Probably weighs same too.
