Thanks OP. I'll try the Pro-Health one, I've heard it's the best.

    • I found these to be a bit thick and doesnt glide as well compared to say the essential oral b ones

        Gorilla Floss the best!

        • This. Can confirm. Have used various brands of dental floss from Oral-B to Colgate. Piksters Gorilla Floss is awesome. It's quite thick though, so it may not be for you if your teeth are very close to each other.

        • Thanks for the tip, never heard of it before. Just bought a twin pack for $3.15

@guidedlight The best was the original Colgate floss until they changed it last year. I've tried other brands and varieties and the Glide Pro-Health seems the next best.

Yeah. The Colgate one is horrible now. I've been using the Satin Tape recently, which I like. I've picked up the ProHealth from this deal.

@guidedlight I was using Satin Tape, then switched to Glide Pro-Health which glides better in between my teeth. Have tried other Oral-B, Reach, Piksters silk floss and interdental brushes etc but weren't suitable.

Unfortunately the presence of PFAS compounds is a concern.

I contacted Colgate-Palmolive last year but they are not bringing back the original Colgate floss in spite of many negative reviews that the new floss is unsuitable for flossing. Colgate was better value too at $4 for 100m when it was half price.

Careful with Oral B floss though, I remember reading they contain high level of PFAS.

Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Deep Clean is no longer made in Germany and contains PTFE

    • Why is PTFE bad in dental floss?

      • +5

It can release chemicals called PFAS. These can build up in your body and are linked to health problems like thyroid disease and cancer. They also don't break down easily, so they stay in the environment and in your body for a long time.

  • Worst floss ever. Slippery, stretchy and impossible to grip.

  • For me the other way, best floss ever. Not thick, have a bit of freshness to it and I currently have around 30 of them otherwise would have bought a few more. Only issue is the new PFAS thing…

  • Glide was my favourite floss but now reading about the change to incorporating PFAS, I'm back to finding another one. Any recommendations?

This article has recommend some alternatives.

        Health impacts may include:

        low sperm count
        smaller penis size
        reduction in immunity
metabolic diseases like obesity & diabetes
        reduced vaccination response
        ulcerative colitis
affect the growth, learning, and behavior of infants and older children
lower a woman’s chance of getting pregnant
interfere with the body’s natural hormones
        increase cholesterol levels
increase the risk of cancer like testicular, prostate and breast cancers

  • Apparently Colgate are ditching the new crappy one and releasing an improved version from this month?

    • +1

      Good to know thanks.
I've got their email from last year about the new crappy one when I enquired and will check again if this improved version is truly better. Colgate wouldn't have sold many of the crappy one so would have been forced to improve.
