  • How does buying gift cards work instore? I've always done it online. Do I grab an empty card and load it at the checkouts? And how do you make sure you get the 15% bonus?

    • +3

Myer cards are physical ones with ore-loaded values of $100 or $200. When you buy from Coles during this promotional period, you will automatically get $115 and $230 respectively

Do I grab an empty card and load it at the checkouts?

You need to grab a $50, $100 or $200 Myer gift card and purchase it at one of the Coles checkouts. You cannot choose the amount to load on these gift cards, as they are fixed denominations (i.e. gift cards with fixed values).

In other words, you are purchasing a $50, $100 or $200 Myer gift card and paying $50, $100 or $200 for it (respectively), but the available balance upon activation will actually be $57.50, $115 or $230 (respectively).

And how do you make sure you get the 15% bonus?

Based on experience of previous gift card deals, there is no way you will know whether you will get the 15% bonus when you are at the checkout.

After you purchase the gift card (and once the gift card is activated), you can check the available balance on the Myer gift card website, as it should show the gift card having 15% bonus value.

      • Thanks fellas. Makes sense. Will be grabbing some as I planned to shop at Myer next week. Great timing.

15% risk premium . risk of insolvency that is.

    • +2

      Hopefully not so soon.

yeah nah. go read financial reports

Fair enough haven't followed it closely but just anecdotally don't know anybody who has bnought anything at Myer in years

      • +3

Because you know how many people? Maybe 100 max? That’s hardly a representation of the retail market. I don’t know anyone who has a Porsche. Porsche must be at risk of going insolvent then.

    • +1

Spend it quickly then to reduce the risk.

  • +4

wow - will grab some, myer having some quite decent sales lately - especially the 40% off levis jeans last week.

  • +1

    Equivalent to 13.04% discount

    • +2

If you spend exactly the amount purchased otherwise you have hard to use leftovers or a reduced discount. Too much effort for my lazy bones.

    • Quite good, better than “10% bonus gift card”

  • what's there to buy at discount from Myer these days though?
just looked up a few items posted, seems like extra 15% the deal price wouldn't even make it come close to all time low.

I think Davidjones is the one with the additional 20% off promo off sale items which keeps being posted.

  • +1

Damn, bought so many of these the last time this deal was on 3 months ago and still haven't used them. But I have started to notice Myer have a “super stocktake weekend” almost every 2 weeks. Waiting for a proper sale

  • Is this good to price match an OLED during black friday or boxing day?

15% seems a lot without activation costs

  • Can these gift cards be used for online purchases during sales?

    • +7

Yes, but you can only redeem a maximum of nine Myer gift cards in one online transaction.

  • need to spend $2k on a bedframe, this is perfect, thank you! any other tips? i've got the $40 credit for myer xmas too

edit: it's actually two separate frames at $1100 each, so i will put the orders through separately

  • I would say, make sure you had something to buy from MYER first and also if you are trying to price match on a product and use GC for better discount, make sure if they can price match that price first before buying GC. Myer has some terms about price match that state price can't be lower than cost price. I tried price match HN price with Myer and they refuse, because it is lower than their cost price.
