  • How does buying gift cards work instore? I've always done it online. Do I grab an empty card and load it at the checkouts? And how do you make sure you get the 15% bonus?

    • +4

Myer cards are physical ones with ore-loaded values of $100 or $200. When you buy from Coles during this promotional period, you will automatically get $115 and $230 respectively

Do I grab an empty card and load it at the checkouts?

You need to grab a $50, $100 or $200 Myer gift card and purchase it at one of the Coles checkouts. You cannot choose the amount to load on these gift cards, as they are fixed denominations (i.e. gift cards with fixed values).

In other words, you are purchasing a $50, $100 or $200 Myer gift card and paying $50, $100 or $200 for it (respectively), but the available balance upon activation will actually be $57.50, $115 or $230 (respectively).

And how do you make sure you get the 15% bonus?

Based on experience of previous gift card deals, there is no way you will know whether you will get the 15% bonus when you are at the checkout.

After you purchase the gift card (and once the gift card is activated), you can check the available balance on the Myer gift card website, as it should show the gift card having 15% bonus value.

      • Thanks fellas. Makes sense. Will be grabbing some as I planned to shop at Myer next week. Great timing.

      Hopefully not so soon.

yeah nah. go read financial reports

Because you know how many people? Maybe 100 max? That’s hardly a representation of the retail market. I don’t know anyone who has a Porsche. Porsche must be at risk of going insolvent then.

    • +1

Spend it quickly then to reduce the risk.

wow - will grab some, myer having some quite decent sales lately - especially the 40% off levis jeans last week.

  • +2

    Equivalent to 13.04% discount

    • +1

If you spend exactly the amount purchased otherwise you have hard to use leftovers or a reduced discount. Too much effort for my lazy bones.

    • Quite good, better than “10% bonus gift card”

  • what's there to buy at discount from Myer these days though?
just looked up a few items posted, seems like extra 15% the deal price wouldn't even make it come close to all time low.

I think Davidjones is the one with the additional 20% off promo off sale items which keeps being posted.

    • Their clearance items in store are always great bang for buck

  • +2

Damn, bought so many of these the last time this deal was on 3 months ago and still haven't used them. But I have started to notice Myer have a “super stocktake weekend” almost every 2 weeks. Waiting for a proper sale

  • Is this good to price match an OLED during black friday or boxing day?

15% seems a lot without activation costs

  • Can these gift cards be used for online purchases during sales?

    • +10

Yes, but you can only redeem a maximum of nine Myer gift cards in one online transaction.

    • Thanks. Keep us posted.

I would say, make sure you had something to buy from MYER first and also if you are trying to price match on a product and use GC for better discount, make sure if they can price match that price first before buying GC. Myer has some terms about price match that state price can't be lower than cost price. I tried price match HN price with Myer and they refuse, because it is lower than their cost price.

    • Yeah its a common issue with Myer price match.

These are handy, one of the rare ways to get a discount on Aesop products.

I bought a $200 gift card and couldn't use it so I checked the balance and mine came with $0 and a cancelled status … the receipt I got does not even mention the card number hopefully they can sort it out.

    • Keep us informed, please.

      • +1

I was told that I have to wait till the payment clears before they can do anything, they told me to wait (I went there in person).

I called up and also sent in my receipt and gift card details for them to look into.

    • Yes I got this exact same issue. I bought it last night so it may have to do with the IT outage. Hopefully will fix itself soon…

      • Any luck? I also bought on Friday evening during the IT outage but when I checked my balance yesterday, saw that it was loaded correctly with a date of Saturday the 20th.

I called and emailed Myer customer service, they sorted it out and gave me egift cards with the correct amount. Luckily I kept the Coles receipt.

Just used this yesterday, can confirm I bought them and was able to use them, with their bonus value immediately.

    • Same. Bought some cards from Coles, then used them within one hour.

  • Tried buying some to ight at 8pm 23.07.24 and they are not crediting me the 15%

  • +1

Correction. Value was added to my card when I checked online.
