Works fine 4k@120hz 4:4:4, not mentioned in the specs buts it's using dsc which is unusual in this price range.
Has to use DSC, otherwise there isn't enough bandwidth from alt-mode.
@netsurfer: Yes, without dsc it wouldn't be capable of the specs advertised but dsc is not mentioned which would lead to your original thinking that the specs might be wrong.
@dickbeaver: Which laptop or PC did you use to test 4K/120Hz?
Cheers @dickbeaver - bought the last one! (Of the 8K@120Hz one)
Edit: looks like it's still available (only have 1 at a time?).
Link isn't working now, links to a different more expensive, less capable dock so you maybe did get the last one.
The one you recommended is great. Tested with a Mac, 4K/60Hz 36-bit HDR HDMI out (which is really nice). Mac alt-mode through USB-C is limited to 4K/60Hz I think. Wish I have a PC that allows me to test 4K/120Hz or 8K via alt-mode. USB 3.1/3.2 gen 2 10Gbps is done through VL822 chipset.
Actually looks decent. Keen for the no captive cable as it always seems like a point of failure - most have little strain relief.
OOS
gone already?
Can it do screen extension across 2 monitors for Macs that only do mirroring?
Mirroring only.
Have you tested 4K@120Hz? Sorry to be cynical, but if it is USB-C 3.2 gen 2 only, claiming 4K@120Hz seems fishy. While it might technically be able to do it, it would be very unusual for a PC / laptop maker to support 4K@120Hz with reduced sub-sampling (4:2:0) SDR through alt-mode (or 8K@30Hz SDR once again at 4:2:0) for USB 3.2 gen 2. Normally, if a laptop wants to support 4K@120Hz HDR and/or 8K@30Hz HDR, it would implement Thunderbolt 4 or USB4.
Given that it also claims that if you have a Mac, all you can expect is 4K@60Hz max, which means it is USB-C 3.2 gen 2/alt-mode.
