Nice, will go well with my new Osmo Pocket 3! Thanks

  • Overkill for a Steam Deck? The speed. Not the size.

Or is it perfect for one?

    • thats what i got it for …

Overkill, I believe - Steam Deck limited to 100 MB/s

    • Any reason you wouldn't just pick up a 2tb ssd for ~$130 instead? Assuming you haven't already upgraded your internal storage that is.

Not handy enough to set it up

        • Fair enough, just FYI though my technical knowledge extends to knowing which end of a screwdriver is the business end and I managed to get the swap done in under 15 mins. Granted actually installing steam os on the new drive took me almost an hour but that's largely on me being an impatient twit and skipping to the end of youtube videos explaining how to get it done, messing up and having to restart the process.

          • @Hawk Tuah: all the guides i looked at , looked like i had to do some serious opening of the case … u managed that ok ???

@ravzter: Yeah, just had to unscrew 8 screws on backplate & used an old credit card & my fingernails to pry back shell off. IIRC there were 3 screws to be removed inside and 1 cable that needed to be moved or unclipped.

If you're happy enough with 1 tb storage (512gb intermal & 512gb sd card) then yeah I'd say maybe don't risk it, I'm a bit of a game hoarder though so needed the extra storage.

Edit: P.S. Ifixit just released a new video for replacing the ssd on the oled deck too, wasn't out when I did mine last week :(

Maybe watch it and see if you'd be comfortable doing this, their step by step instructions are usually pretty easy to follow

              https://youtu.be/CUipXjhP5xc

2nd Edit: Hmm, their replacement video seems to have a few extra steps (unplugging cables etc) that the one I followed didn't, DYOR I suppose, if you explode your Deck pls no blame moi.

  • Is this the fastest available or is there a better option.

  • Is this good for dash cam? Particularly viofo a229 pro dual channel?

    • Samsung in general is not preferred by Viofo

In my experience, Samsung has lasted considerably longer than SanDisk.

    • I used evo plus which is ok.

recently I changed to blackvue 4k so I upgraded to 256G Endurance.

    • No, you want an endurance card for sustained writes

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks guys, I bought sandisk as recommended by viofo but this is a great price so I thought I would check

  • I use this for a backup server my little Orange Pi. I use CIFS & Rsync so speed is important.
