Slightly cheaper if you have access to EDU Store.

    • BT 40mm - $384.30
    • BT 44mm - $419.30
  • so all older watches got the same value/price?
    so its 399-150 nett?

  • +5

mostly minor improvement i will not bother upgrading from 6.
    still shitt battery

    • I came to ask this, thank you.
I've got the 4 and yes, battery life is bad.

      • Watch 6 has a two day battery for me. I don't do sleep tracking so it's more than good enough.

        • Watch 6 has 2.5 days battery, and i do sleep tracking.

I have turned off notifications for most of the apps, except selected few and only use Samsung digital dashboard face with constant heart reading.

However, I have a sleep mode auto turn on every night, unsure if these settings makes it better

      • +2

And you accepted the first answer without sources as gospel…

    • +9

What exactly are you basing this on? This is a brand new chip on a brand new silicon process with a brand new screen and sensor array.

Everything under the hood is different.

      • -3

        Still a dreadful OS

        • The OS is fine, the chip was a dual core A55 until now.

    • +1

Still using gear 3 frontier, nothing wrong with it and design looks better IMO so I'll keep it.

      • Me too, got it in 2017

    • i use watch 5 , 13hrs a day and still gives me 2 days

    • I don't know about real use battery life of Watch 7 but I assume you mean the increase in capacity is disappointing?
oh it's identical to previous Watch 6 😭 425mAh/300mAh. same with the Ultra it's same as 6 5 Pro which was 590mAh.

to be honest if you have 6 and it's battery is not enough then yeah probably won't be the week long battery life you seem to want from other comments.

seems like Watch 7 and Ultra is mostly the same internally but they reserved the bigger battery for Ultra (like they did with Pro model), but definitely not worth double the price and apparently only gives you maximum of 4 days.
oh and also did you know Ultra doesn't have rotating bezel or rotating crown?! it looks like crown is rotatable but it's not. instead there is a "virtual" rotating bezel on Ultra which uses the edge of the touchscreen. reviewer I watched said it doesn't work well and your finger also block part of the screen. video made it look a bit stuttery because relying on touch screen.

so for anyone wanting Galaxy watch's trademark feature the rotating bezel, get the standard Watch 7.

oh came back to mention something very important about Ultra which I was saying in previous posts. the Ultra ONLY comes in LTE model, so if you get it make sure you are going to use LTE. otherwise there are issues. the major one being LTE model Galaxy watches drain battery faster than non LTE Galaxy watches even with LTE turned off in settings.

Got a Galaxy Watch from 2018… What's changed with these? Can they do much more than before?

I like the idea but honestly I mostly use it to check the time lol. One good feature is the find my watch/phone feature that I use semi regularly when I'm trying to find one or the other.

    • From what I read, much upgraded health sensors and AI integration. From Watch 4, this I think could be a massive improvement

      • Battery significantly improved since Watch5, I have had the 5 and 6. Slightly slimmer bezel, probs more accurate sensors.

      • They tout much upgraded health sensors pretty much every year and - to date - it still ranks poorly.

For example, see this YouTube tester who tests the health sensors (particularly heart rate, sleep and GPS) across a bunch of different watches:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW6mqMkKwdM

        • This is Watch 7 though. Things might change. Hopefully someone can review soon.

        • The thing about what this guy does - at least from what I saw in Apple watch reviews - is that he uses it against a reference device wearable that he's made, and there's no comparison to a better made device for recording such data, such as a chest strap. He's throwing you reams of data that ultimately tells you very little.

OK, so looking over his recent videos - including what you've linked - it looks like he has actually switched over to a chest strap as a HR monitor reference and is doing more rigorous analysis of sleep tracking against the kind of equipment they'd use in a sleep study.

      • I can only see the battery and the looks that has been massively improved from Watch 4 to Ultra.

AI integration looks very much like a hype.

    • +1

The find phone/ watch feature has been around since the gear s2 as far as i know too. The new ultra version looks like it can do 10m underwater but i dont know what other improvements it has, the price is too much though and it looks a bit odd.

      • +1

I didn't like the look of it either. They tried to make it look like apple watch ultra but nah.

        • Yeah my thoughts too. A backwards step in design.

      • +1

Having looked more at it, it seems they've made the exterior a lot more rugged and broadly fashion accessible, and that's cost a pretty penny to engineer and scale up. Otherwise it seems to be the same as the Watch 7.

        • It is still ridiculously priced though just like their phones as of lately.
This could well be the start of their downfall.

          • @ThePasserby: They've had to invest a lot more in software as the hardware pricing starts to scale up on the Qualcomm - and even Samsung - side of things. That adds up, and if annual sales numbers are down they're going to try and claw that back too.

In truth, everybody pre-ordering today gets a big hardware upgrade at a good launch price in the Watch 7, Buds3 Pro, and the Flip. Just better to deal direct with Samsung when other outlets are locking in future purchasing via gift cards.

For the more frugal, you'll see phone plan integrations, and later <$200 price tags for the IEMs and watch. Early manufacturing ramp pricing is the norm, and they toss pre-order bonuses in when their manufacturing volumes exceed conservative estimates.

Doesn't look like Apple's Ocean Band or anything.

    • Looks like a generic enough watch band. Apple's is all about the pointless holes.

  • Might be finally time to upgrade from my 2018 one…

  • +2

I'm waiting for the current 6 classic to be on sale. Need to buy one for my dad :(

    • Omg same situation here haha!

    • +1

I feel that the Samsung trend is a lot of promo on current stock of current and older models close to release of a new model.
Once the new model is released there is not much promo going on the older models.
They probably don't want older model to affect sales of the new model.

      • +1

        The correlation is real.

  • Does this watch have CGM please ?

    • +1

No, but it does have AGE detection, so they're clearly working on it. Apple are rumoured to be close too, but that would probably put them both a year or two away (likely two).

      • +1

        Thanks

        • +1

Just keep in mind that accuracy will be a massive issue early on with such a technology, assuming this attempt even gets off the ground.

          • @jasswolf: Yes true otherwise all CGM will have to close the shops

    • Apologies for my ignorance but what is CGM?

      • +1

        Continuous glucose monitors

    • +1

Dexcom 7 (coming soon to Australia) has CGM to Apple Watch (via iPhone, which has to be kept close to watch)

      • But looks like that still needs sensor :)

        • How do you think you are going to get CGM without a sensor?

  • +3

    Any discount codes without trade-in?

If you get the 44mm with smaller band you can save $24 but loose the signature edition watch faces.

  • +7

Managed to get the Galaxy Watch 7 44mm LTE for $338 without trade in by adding the watch without a band (still got the free one) and used the old 20% off wearable code (starts with EBD-)

To remove the band, switch between the bands and click preorder quickly. This should add the watch without a band

Screenshot of the receipt (it shows the total $315 because I used $23 credit):

    • App or Web browser?

      • I did it on phone web browser (chrome)

    • where was this from: 20% off wearable code?

      • +3

It's an old code from Sep 2023 but as other people previously reported, these codes are surprisingly still valid.

        • +2

Do you know where can we get this code? thanks

        • Thanks for the date reference. I still have that code and it worked!

However, as I am trading in, the asurion website is very glitchy. The licence upload kept failing.

    • Without the 20% wearable code, the lowest I can get would be $426 (including $50 trade in and unpack registration code)

      It's not worth it.

    • +1

Managed to get the Galaxy Watch 7 44mm LTE for $304.75 (less $7.20 from my Samsung loyalty balance).

There is a strange glitch (or not?) that if you add for example, Orange Band, instead of adding the cost $66.75 ($89 cost - $22.25 discount) to the total amount, it instead deducted the cost of the phone by $22.25 resulting it cheaper to buy the Watch WITH the band than buying the Watch WITHOUT the band.

The composition thus is as follow:

      Watch7 - $699 reduced to $238 ($89 offset the cost of Orange Band + $50 Trade in + $50 Samsung Unpacked code + $122 20% wearable code + $150 instant cashback at checkout)
Orange band - $66.75 ($89 less $22.25 discount - combined with above, this is effectively a net discount of $22.25 to the total cost)

      So total cost is $304.75

You will still get the extra Athleisure Band for $0

I suggest if you are super interested with this watch, with the band glitch (?), you better be hurry. You can perhaps argue the $22.25 discount is for Samsung NOT giving you the default band because if you choose say, the Orange band, you won't get the default silver band.

      • Hi. Is the unpacked code a general code or user specific ?

        • Unpacked code was given to those who pre-registered for the Unpacked event and it was given last month I think 28/06/2024. It is user specific as the email said "your exclusive code".

      • I found the old 20% off code starting with EBD-, but it's not working. :(

        • Try samsung online (wont work via epp or edu)

      • +1

What is this 20% wearable code that everyone is talking about? Is it targeted codes you have in your email?

        • Is it targeted codes you have in your email?

          burningrage already answered above.

it's only available to those who pre-registered for a promo.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: No, that's the unpacked code which is different

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm:

burningrage already answered above. it's only available to those who pre-registered for a promo.

No no. There were 2 codes. One was given if you registered in the unpacked event around late June 2024. For watch redemption, this code will give you $50 (for phones redemption, I think it would give you $200). The other code was the one provided to regular Samsung subbers back around 15th September 2023 (this was hinted by Hazz125) that applied to wearables. This code gives you 20% off (but how they calculated 20%, I don't know). If you haven't used that code, it can now be used to stack for this watch.

            Both codes are once-used only.

      • +1

Also noticed this and I think there is a 25% off watch band sale so if you change the default band to any other one it will discount it.

I got a 40mm Bluetooth model for $376.75 by changing the band to a different colour, also got the free Athleisure band.

      • Hi Mate, what is the email name of the wearable code so I can search it?
        or any keyword to search

    • +2

To remove the band, switch between the bands and click preorder quickly. This should add the watch without a band

Can't get this to work, any tricks to use? Was it switching between the band types or colours?

      • +2

Can't get it to work either

    • hey mate, Can't get this to work, any tricks to use? Was it switching between the band types or colours?

      • I just tried the same trick and it worked. I switched between the bands and immediately pressed pre order.

I'm not sure what it's not working on your side.

If successful, on the check out page, you should see the watch without a band: https://imgur.com/a/xStKPL0

        • are you able to test if it still works? whenever i switch bands and click preorder, it scrolls down the screen and requests me to select if i want to trade in or want samsung care.

Looking to buy apple galaxy WATCH ULTRA

  • +3

If you know anyone that works either in Telstra or one of the retailers i.e. Bing Lee, The Good Guys etc. They can log into their Samsung account and do a training course to get a 50% off code for these watch. I'm thinking of getting the Ultra.

    • where is that at on the website?

      • I'm not sure what you're asking me, where is what on what website?

    • Multistore portal has 30% off and a free watchband for ultra, just over $900.
All the other on a are 30% off there.
Currently have the 5pro watch that has the same battery that lasts 3+ days with display always on, but I don't want LTE function as that just reduces battery life down to about 2 days.

      • but I don't want LTE function as that just reduces battery life down to about 2 days.

yes and even if you don't use LTE and switch it off, the battery drains faster than the equivalent watch in Bluetooth only version.

and Ultra only comes in LTE version.

      • What's Multistore Portal?

    • Out of curiosity, is there also one for the phones and buds?

      • +1

Yup. This also applies to phones and buds. But I think it's only 40% for the phones and buds at 50%.

  • I think we are getting bad deals over here this time around… apparently trade in values in US for older watch are a lot more.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyWatch/comments/1e09zpo/crazy_…

  • What's the chance of JB or OW to match the deal?

    • +1

None I would imagine atm - they will say the item isn't in stock.

    • +1

Technically the same price at JB Hi-Fi & Officeworks, except instead of straight $150 off, they give you a $150 Gift Card for their respective store.

  • +1

I have the 4 and I just don't see the point in getting another watch from Samsung. The software is so shit, its laggy most of the time and just doesn't feel good to use. I've used an apple watch and it's the complete opposite, snappy, responsive. I'm never going to use apple products but it makes me disappointed that 'we' get such shit, just cause.

    • 2 day battery is a joke . Evevn on the ultra.

    • 4 is a bit laggy but functional. This is 7 though so maybe things have changed.

  • Any thoughts on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic being sold for around $350 on Catch ?

    • +1

      Brand new?
EDIT: Grey import, may affect NFC payments.

    • Compared to the Watch 7? Completely skip, buy the Watch 7.

  • -1

    Squircle or gtfo

    • -2

      Apple clone.

  • i have a old Samsung Galaxy Watch 46MM but samsung doesn't accept trade-ins on this model. Does anyone know what i should do with it to get some money back on it?

  • I'm getting $365 price for 40mm BT Watch7 with 5% off your first purchase on EPP store. I've still got the Tizen Galaxy Watch with physical rotating bezel and hardly use it so not sure if I 'need' it just yet.

  • Thanks. Got a 44m Bluetooth Watch 7 for $234, after EDB code and Galaxy5 tradein.

    • What's an EDB code?
