Upvoted… as I open another pack of Kenyan coffee beans brought back from Kenya by family. Not today, Lime Blue! But someday I'll run out…

    • +4

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy it from a supplier rather than flying there?

      • +4

True. No more visits from wife's parents in Nairobi, and no more visits to them. Thanks, OzBargain!

    • +1

      Morning :)

      Upvote much appreciated!

WOW that's quite the delivery service you've got set up. If you think you'll run out by early September you could always utilise our unique scheduled dispatch feature by ordering today and setting the dispatch date for 29 August, just food (coffee) for thought :)

  • -1

Lately u guys haven’t had any sales for beans that have the grinded option for pour overs. Sad and disappointed.

    • +16

Invest in a grinder, freshly ground is so much better, especially for pour overs.

    • +12

You…. You use pre ground beans for your pour over?

    • +8

      Morning :)

I hear you loud and clear!

There's a number of reasons we don't have ground options currently of offer, primarily being our grinder is currently out of commission. As you have pour over this may be the perfect opportunity for you to take the plunge to grind the beans yourself as this will improve your coffee experience ten fold without costing a small fortune. When you get a sec please send an email to [email protected] and we can chat further :)

    • +12

Once you grind daily, you never go back.

I really want this for you.

    • +2

I'm a pour over guy too.
And investing in a grinder changes the whole experience.
Especially if you buy beans from companies like Lime Blue where you receive your beans freshly roasted.

    • +2

Pre ground beans? May as well just drop into McDonald's.

  • +2

Bought when I got the mail. Perfect timing.

    • Fantastic, love to hear the timing was perfect!

Thank you so much for your order, it's does mean a lot :)

  • +6

Cheaper than the front page deal the other day. High quality beans, reputable, reliable seller & not trying to shove a political message down your throat.
    Upvote from me.

  • Just ordered 2 kg and skipped a few weeks of future coffee subs to another shop. Crossing my fingers this single origin is a good one to have for a month or two. Couldn't pass up the great price!

    • Amazing to hear you've jumped on this super special Kenya Single Origin, fingers crossed you absolutely love it!!!

Thank you so much for your order, very happy to know this deal's a real winner for you :)

    • +1

      It's quite delicious.

  • LimeBlue vs Airjo, any opinions on which tastes better? (I know it is personal preference, but still interested).

    • +5

      LimeBlue taste better for me

    • Definitely LB!
I didn't find anything Airjo roasted to be pleasant at all.

    • I do prefer LimeBlue. Airjo usually roasted darker.

    • +1

I was an airjo fanboy, but that was mostly because I'd forget to buy beans until I was almost out, and airjo's free express post on any size order was very convenient. But after a few times of it not being as express as I needed, I tried many of the other companies that advertise on ozb. But it was lime blue that I've stuck with and haven't looked back. Being able to set future dates for postage, and freezing excess as required when you order enough for the free shipping, keeps me on top of my supply. The "moments to memories" and "thank you" blend from lime blue are similar to some of my favourite airjo, but the Brazil sao paulo single origin from lime blue is a clear cut above. Plus it's fun to try out all the other specials that cycle through lime blue, whereas airjo was a very static selection.
Edit: I make flat whites and piccolos in a Breville bes920 dual boiler, and grind at the time of brewing in the Breville Smart grinder.

  • I have really enjoyed everything thus far, I haven't tried the Kenyan before, and I just finished off my last bag of Peru Organic. Thanks OP I really enjoy travelling around the world and sampling a new coffee from the comfort of my kitchen each morning!

    • Wonderful to hear, thank you so much for that fantastic compliment and another terrific order, both are truly appreciated!!!

Absolute music to my ears to know how much you're enjoying your Lime Blue Coffee trip around the world, I think the ability to go on a mini holiday any time of the day is something that makes coffee pure magic :)

  • Hey @LimeBlueCoffee, Sent an email yesterday regarding a dispatch. Any chance you missed it?

    • +1

      Appreciate the follow up!

There is a chance there was some tech error, but most likely I just need to get faster at responding!

I only got through about 50 emails yesterday as there were a few extra spanners in the works…my email speed is a continual work in progress, not an excuse just an explanation. If you don't have a response from me yet and the matter is urgent could you please simply reply with a "?" as this will send it to the top of the inbox :)

  • +3

I support any coffee producer that doesn't try and grift a zero connection culture war to sell beans.

  • +2

Any deal coming for this and Brazil São Paulo Single Origin? I'd like a kg of each

    • +1

      Never hurts to ask!

Right now I'm honestly not too sure when our much loved Brazil São Paulo Single Origin will be featured in a deal as we're eagerly awaiting a new shipment to arrive and clear customs :)

  • Does this one go well in Milk based Coffee too? If I drink both Milk and Black?

    • It sure does, either way this one's got you covered :)

      • In what way is the taste different if I have it as a long black compared to the Thank You Blend?

        • As a general comparison the Kenya will have more brightness (higher acidity kick), will be slightly fruitier and have the pleasant addition of vanilla flavour notes :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: I haven't tried the Thank You blend, but this is quite bright and fruity. Very delicious.

            • @thedriver: That's fantastic to hear @thedriver thank you so much for letting us know how much you enjoy this terrific Single Origin from Kenya!

our Thank You blend is somewhere in between our Moments to Memories blend and this Kenya Single Origin on the closer side to Moments than Kenya, if it sounds like a potential winner for you then I'd highly recommend adding it to your "to try" list :)

    • Definitely does, I'm using it in both pour over and espresso (with and without milk), and really enjoying it.

  • Always happy to order from you guys.

So far I've never been disappointed even by the decaf (which is not my favourite, but is still enjoyable)

Looks like Kenyan is on the menu for the next order.

    Thanks!

    • Music to my ears to know we're in your good books, I promise we'll keep working hard to stay there!

Terrific to hear you're still exploring new coffees with us, thank you so much for another fantastic order and I hope you love this special Single Origin from Kenya :)

  • Got the carbonic maceration process version of these same beans a year or so ago and it was great. What sort of flavour difference can I expect with these compared to the CM ones?

    Thanks!

    • Fantastic to hear how much you enjoyed the CM version of this Single Origin!

If I'm thinking of the same one the CM you've tried was a Natural processed coffee wasn't it?

  • Is this light, medium or dark roast, OP?

    • +1

      Never hurts to double check!

      This one's a medium omni roast :)

      • Thanks, LBC.

        • :)

      • Any chance you'll do a proper light roast in the future?

I'm a regular customer enjoying your medium roasts but would love to try one of your beans on more on the side of a light filter roast.

(I'd also be interested to know what makes something an omni-roast because I've seen way lighter roasts than yours called omni-roast and also what I'd call the light end of espresso roast called the same.)

        • +2

          Never hurts to ask!

We have done roasts on the lighter side of medium and will likely do so again in the future, but I don't know as the when right now. Omni is derived from a latin word meaning "all." So when we omni roast it we're roasting it with the intention of it being suitable to brew using any espresso or filter method. In my mind omni really comes down to balance of flavour properties across different coffee making methods and it's predominantly determined by the final phase of the roasting process and not just the ending values (e.g. development %, end temp…) but the journey to get their (change in rate of rise temp) especially in the final roasting stage has a high impact on the overall result. Although roasted colour does provide valuable information I wouldn't recommend making it your sole focus, simply because there's a lot of other chemical reactions happening during the roasting process. Two coffees could be virtually identical in colour but could be drastically different from depth of flavour perspectives. Furthermore, where a coffee is grown, the variety of plant and specific fermentation process all have an impact on how the coffee will looks when roasted based on an a/b one profile type test. I do understand how much of a subjective, personal thing coffee flavour preference can be. It's up to you, but if I were in your shoes I'd try and hone in on the specific flavour properties I enjoy and from there seek out coffees with those properties e.g. What specifically is it about the "lighter" roasts you've had that you enjoyed so much? If you want a high acidity kick to your coffee, start looking high altitude coffees with a relatively shorter roasting development % and higher relative rate of rise during the roasting process…You're welcome to shoot an email to [email protected] if you've got further questions :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks Tom for this really detailed answer. Look forward to having a go at a lighter roast some day!

  • +3

Waiting for the next Brazil SO deal!

    • +1

Waiting for the next shipment to clear customs, so there's a chance we'll get more Brazil in July, but it could just as easily happen in August. Fingers crossed for a speedy "all clear" from customs :)

  • showing $34.5 for me?

    • Appreciate the double check!

I believe you've got 1kg in 500g bags selected AKA 2x500g bags. For the 1kg in a 1kg bag price of $29.70 simply change the packing menu option on the product page to 1kg Bag/s and you'll see the price change instantly :)

  • Bought 3x 1kg bags. Thanks!

    • Amazing, thank you so much for the outstanding order!!!

  • Hm just realised after ordering that the 500g bags (the default option) was making it more expensive. Has this always been the case?

    • Yes it has.

    • It seems to be standard across all the roasters I've bought from these days. I don't begrudge them, it's an extra bag and a bit of extra faffing about to pack that extra bag, so I'm happy to pay the few bucks extra for the convenience.

    • Morning @budgetgaming :)

Spot on, this has always been the case that packing into 500g bags does cost a bit more than packing into a 1kg bag. As mentioned in a bullet point of this post under the "some helpful info" section "500g bag packaging (it's resealable) is also available for orders larger than 500g this is an extra $4.80 per kg including the discount (normally $8 extra per kg) to cover the extra bag/s, label/s and time it takes to pack (more than double the time)."

It's the default package options because if 1kg bag/s packaging was the default option, when 500g quality is selected the product would show as "unavailable." However, it's super easy to change in a transparent way, if you just change the package menu option to 1kg bag/s you'll instantly see the per kg price change to $29.70 :)

  • Hey @LimeBlueCoffee, was keen to try out, but seems like no plunger grind available. I have minimal space so grinding is not preferable (or no intention to be fair), so was wanting a ground option.

    • +2

A hand grinder would be a fantastic addition to your coffee gear. I quite like the Timemore ones, I'm rocking the Chestnut C3 this week while I'm away from home. Reasonably priced on AliExpress. Hario Mini is another great option, a bit cheaper and more than good enough for my wife who's using it this week while she's away somewhere else. Both of them are very portable which make them great for travel too.

At home I've got a good electric grinder, but any fresh grind will be an improvement over preground coffee. Grinding my own beans was a massive breakthrough for me in making my coffee more tasty.

      • +1

Thanks - this will be my plan later on so noting your suggestions.

        • +2

Happy to help :) It's no exaggeration to say fresh grind was the biggest game changer for me in improving my coffee making.

Hario mini probably isn't the best one around any more, but it's certainly light with the ceramic burrs and plastic housing and my wife took it since she was heading overseas. I didn't go so far so I took the heavier and more solid (steel burrs and casing) Chestnut C3. We're both drinking Lime Blue atm (I've got Timor-Leste, I think she's on Ecuador, both deals from OzB).

    • Hey @saffrontea appreciate you letting us know!

We'd love you to give us a shot. Right now out primary bag/deli grinder is out of commission, hence why there's no pre-ground options at present. I hear you loud and clear about the space constraint, good news is you could get a nifty hand grinder without taking up too much space. Depending on the size of our Plunger, the hand grinder would like take up even less space than the Plunger. @owduck has shared some very helpful info (thank you for the super speedy answer assist) about hand grinders. We currently have a hand grind at a discount on our site which may be worth checking out :)

  • Hey @LimeBlueCoffee, wondering how the Kenya SO compares to the rest. I have tried most of your SOs, Peru, Brazil and most recently India Thalanar. Also tried your various blends.. By far my favourite was the Peru with milk followed by Brazil. I am still going through the India Thalanar (which was only ok for my taste). Wondering if I should try the Kenya or just wait for the Peru to come up on special.

    • Thanks to your comment, I'm going to grab 500g of the Peru to try along with my order for this special. Brazil has been my favourite flat white bean from lime blue so far, and I also rated it above the India thalanar, so I'm expecting our tastes are on a similar scale :) I haven't yet tried the Peru.

    • I'm a black coffee drinker who's tried LB's Brazil, Peru and Kenya. I found Brazil and Peru similar in "punchiness", both great for milk coffee. Kenya was a bit milder from memory, but would punch through milk fine. Really, for just about all of their SOs apart from the funkier ones (like carbonic maceration), they all go well with milk.

    • Hey @PenT appreciate you taking the time to reach out and thank you so much for trying a wide variety of our coffees!!!

All of the coffees you've mentioned have distinct features in different flavour directions, Peru (earthy), Brazil (chocolatey), India (salty/umami)…Out of the three Single Origins you've mentioned our Kenya Single Origin would be closest to Peru. However, it's notably different, so I wouldn't say it's similar, just the closest from a flavour perspective. Imagine the Peru with more brightness (a higher acidity kick) and notably fruitier undertones in comparison. If you've also had our Colombia Cauca Single Origin and enjoyed it then I'd be astounded if you didn't also enjoy this delicious Kenya Single Origin :)
