I was hoping to post something a bit more epic for my 300th post, but that's ok, a delicious spread for $1.05/100g is a winner in my books. Here are my serving suggestions:

  • When I run out of Cadbury (or any chocolate for that matter) I simply place some Nutella in a bowl and into the freezer for 15mins for a delicious "chocolate" substitute. (I just keep one in the fridge now and one on the pantry).

  • Layer Nutella onto some vanilla ice cream. It doesn't hardened like ice magic, but after a few minutes, it has the same consistency as what Cadbury chocolate topping sauce used to have (back on the 90's).

    • Buy 8 and get diabetes 😅

  • +42

wait two days and get the 750gr jar from Coles for $6.80

    • +9

This is cheaper than olive oil

      • +8

Heh, yes.. made with palm oil in fact

        • Ferrero are actually the most sustainable in palm oil production, all of it is ethically and 100% sustainably sourced. Have a read, they are surprisingly ahead of the game, and whether it's performative or not I have never heard them advertise it before

          • @nikko016: My friend owns a hazelnut farm in Chile that supplies Ferrero. He said it’s a terrible business to be in but he likes keeping a bunch of locals employed.

          • @nikko016: Indeed, they have set themselves the goal of supply chain traceability back to the plantation, and they have almost achieved it, which is much more than can be said for Unilever et al who are more 'performative' but are not doing so well. Ultimately though all those companies need to fix the main sustainability body they fund, the RSPO - right now it is failing to prevent deforestation by member growers, but providing greenwash cover for less ambitious brands.

    • Don't see that in the catalogue. What is your secret source sir?

    • +1

This is free delivery for Prime users though.

… simply place some Nutella in a bowl and into the freezer for 15mins for a delicious "chocolate" substitute

I've been doing it wrong… one heaped tablespoon straight to the belly…, no freezing required.

    • In Brisbane, the Nutella at room temperature is not greatest

      • +2

You're very wrong, it is THE greatest.

I usr that oily residue that floats to the top (most likely palm oil) on my palms as I fap away to old Pamela Anderson pictures..

        • +1

Do you mean old pictures of Pamela Anderson, or pictures of old Pamela Anderson?

        • +1

          LOL FMD

  • +2

this IS worthy of 300th post!!

    Congratulations!

Been having Nutella with bread daily for more than 20 years.

    • +1

My partner has 4 slices of toast with nutella every morning.

      • +2

Way to broden the home bread supply

      • Wow

      • +2

Get 4 of these for your partner, you will get 5 % off

  • +2

Cheese and nutella sandwich then butter both outsides of the bread and toast in a pan. You’re welcome.

    • +17

      Cheese and nutella

      THE WHAT

      • +4

Peanut butter and toasted sandwiches are better. Alternatively Nutella, peanut butter, cheese and salmon toasties.

        • +2

😭You have no idea what emotions I am feeling right now. 😭😭

    • +3

Forgot to mention, works best on plain old white bread.

      • +1

Nutella on plain white bread… Lovely.

Not sure about the cheese though.

    • Had it before but never been toasted. It was good and fulfilling.

  • +4

Congrats Op. I bought one to celebrate your 300th post!

Just hope that when I check the pantry in a minute, the Mrs didn't buy one recently..!

  • +8

I remeber getting a few of these from BigW for $5.5, those days are gone…

  • +6

    Jar of cholesterol hearts.

    Love it

  • +2

Nutella in porridge is next level decadent breakfast. Trust me, try it, you won't regret it.

    • +1

Put some Biscoff in oats and it was unreal, so I can imagine this is chef kiss approved

    • Mixed in?

  • Layer Nutella onto some vanilla ice cream

To level up those cheap ice cream cone cups I spread Nutella all over the inside, pack it full with icecream and the chocolate hardens a little and you've got choc coated ice cream cones.

I admit that Aldi has won me over with their choc hazelnut spread at $3.49 for 400g though.

  • +11

Slather this on a sheet of puff pastry, roll and bake in the oven for Nutella scrolls - my favourite way to eat Nutella

  • +7

    9.9kg of sugar. Lol

  • +1

    Congrats on 300th post :)

  • +8

    56% sugar, 30% fat, wow

    • +13

      100% energy

    • I'm not sure if anyone is buying it as a healthy food

    • +1

I believe this is the post you are looking for…

  • Anyone know where to order some of the Italian stuff? Several months back, in the comments for another Nutella deal one user provided a link to https://ladispensa.com.au/products/nutella-900g-made-in-ital… which sold out instantly, and checking in periodically they seem to have not ever restocked the meantime; and checking around for an alternative, nowhere else seems to import it into Australia.

  • +5

Cheaper at Costco at the moment. Think it was $17 for 2 X 1kg with an instant discount.

    • Yeah… 85% of folks don’t live conveniently close enough to a Costco, so….

  • Not a bad price for a 1 week supply.

  • +11

Shouldn’t be galled a “Hazelnut Chocolate Spread” though. Those aren’t the top ingredients and it’s misleading.

Sugar palm oil spread is far more accurate

    • +1

It has hazelnuts, so in my books it qualifies as a hazelnut spread! All the other ingredients are there to make it the most delicious spread in the world!
And if the "hazelnut chocolate spread" triggers you, buy the dry, clumpy alternatives!

  • +2

Mix Nutella with condensed milk at about 1:1 ratio and freeze it and you have delicious Nutella ice-cream

  • +1

Just a headsup for those with Costco membership. They have 2x 1KG Nutella for $17.49. 1KG tub effectively works out to be $8.75 😊

  • +1

I love this stuff and have clear skin, but it gives me pimples so badly 😢

    • Do you know why?

My best mate also avoided this and most chocolates in his teens because he had the same reaction.

      • I eat a fair bit of chocolate - Nutella is way worse. I think it’s also the oil?

  • +1

You can make ice magic with chocolate and coconut oil (if you don't like the slight taste of coconut you can get a deodorized version) melted and mixed together. I never thought of trying Nutella but keen to see if this will work

  • +1

OP get one of the cheap jaffle makers from Kmart:

Get two pieces of brioche and on each slice butter one side.
Place Nutella between the non buttered side of the brioche slices
Toast the brioche in jaffle maker then once ready dust with icing sugar

    • This sounds yum

    • Wonderful, this can be my dessert after my many KFC and Dominos bargains.

  • +1

Sorry but the best way to eat Nutella is with a spoon
    Anything else is overcomplicating things

Cold and hard, warm and melty, there's no bad way to have a mouthful of Nutella

  • Best is room-temperaturey when it seperates and looks like a layer of backwash on the top.

  • +1

    Diabetus

  • -2

    Boring.

  • How about the "Banana Split" sandwich?
Two slices of your favourite bread, spread Nutella on both slices, cut up a banana, layer it up, and voilà :-)
(pro tip: wait until the banana is quite brown… soft banana lends itself for spreading pretty well)

  • +1

Nutella, chunky peanut butter, Peter’s Vanilla ice cream. This is the way…

  • Thanks

  • Nutella with a teaspoon! Nutella and peanut butter sandwiches. Nutella on crackers. Nutella on toast. Nutella and ricotta. Nutella with pretzels. Nutella and banana. Nutella on pancakes. Nutella and Philadelphia cheese. Nutella on biscuits. Nutella and ice cream. Nutella with more Nutella!!!! The possibilities are endless!

  • Don't die before arriving?;
Dispatching in more then 1 months?!
    It's coming from another planet!

    • They’re growing the hazelnuts

  • +1

I see this Coles one much cheaper, unless my eyes are playing with me !
    https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-smooth-hazelnut-sprea…

Congrats for the 300th post though 👏

    • Thanks. I haven't tried the Coles branded on before. Any good?

      • Haven't tried personally too sry

        • +1

It’s not bad but not as good. You can taste the oil too much

    • +1

There's also the crunchy variant and a smaller size smooth. @Lizard Spock

I've tried the crunchy before which I liked.

      • Curious to try out the crunchy one.
