Just in case you need a power bank right now and can’t hang out till Amazon prime day next week.

The B62 is already discounted from $69.99 to $55.99, then click the 10% coupon to get it for $50.39. Not an all time low, but still a great deal and the lowest I have seen this power bank for a while. (When the B62 was newer INIU did some very brief deals as low as ~$30 to boost Amazon sales but it's hard to know if that will happen again.) Shows as free delivery for me even without Prime, but only if you have not ordered from the power bank category before.

The B62 has a 65W output, so great for charging handheld gaming devices like a steam deck (or laptops or just phones). And the three year warranty is excellent compared to most power banks. 74Wh is under 99Wh, so flight safe without needing airline permission.

INIU is by far my favourite affordable brand for power banks. Here are a couple of other INIU deals.

$17.84 (Was $29.99) INIU B6 20W 10,000 mAh.
This is a great budget power bank. Normally around the $25 to $30 mark. Often on sale for $20 or less, but usually does not last long. IMO a great buy for $25 or lower.

$39.19 (was $55.99) 45W version of the B62. Limited stock. I have tested this one and it is great, but no review up yet.

$76.49 (Was ~$89.99) INIU B63 100W 25,000 mAh. I have not tested this exact power bank - only the 65W version that is no longer sold. No PPS but a good quality 100W option. Previous OzBargain deal.

$95.99 (was $119.99) INIU B64 140W 27,000mAh. (using 20% off coupon) Currently going through testing. So far all results are excellent and a review will be up soon. Not an all time low but IMO a great buy any time it’s under $100, and still good at $120. It’s a big power bank, and the maximum size you can take on a flight without airline permission.

Check out my TechRadar review of the B62 power bank for more details. The short version is that it gives the rated output and capacity with excellent efficiency. And the second USB-C port has an unadvertised secret - it supports PPS and can do Samsung Super Fast Charging 2.0 - which is rare for a power bank at this price.

Funnily enough, INIU don't even send me free power banks for testing. Every INIU power bank I have tested has been paid for with my personal money. All bought from OzBargain deals! I can't even get a INIU press contact for Australia! (INIU if you are reading this, reply to my emails please!)

I started capacity testing power banks that I owned just for my own interest. Then started doing it as a freelance gig. And now write for TechRadar. Take a look at my post history - this is my personal account, and I have been obsessing over power banks (and other power testing) for a long time.

The INIU power banks are good because they give the rated capacity with great efficiency and have decent features and long warranty. From what I have seen in user comments, the process for warranty is easy and INIU happily replaces any power banks with issues.

Remember it is possible to block low value commenters by going into settings

        • +14

Haha, jv is part of the OzBargain furniture by now. I'd be offended if he didn't comment.

          • +2

@Prong: If you've been here long enough you learn to live with him.

He's like the annoying relative that you can't get rid of.

          • +1

@Prong: While on the topic of jv I recently uncovered footage of his appearance on the footy show. You can see the resemblance.

      • I too have a few INIU and like them as well.

Waiting for another one of the magsafe chargers with stand to go on sale, they're good for my kids to take with them for emergency phone tops ups.

      • One of many reasons you're the only person I subscribe to. Love the info, and enthusiasm.

        • Thanks! I'm glad my obsession is useful :D

  • @Prong hey mate, thanks for the post. Have you ever looked at the capacity of these power banks? As I doubt they are 100% of the listed mAh

    • +3

Yup! You can find capacity testing in my TechRadar best power banks guide. Including for the B62 and B6. I test across a range of voltages and amperages. The results are averages of multiple tests. I only list power banks that meet their capacity rating after normal losses.

I have tested about 5x as many power banks as in that guide - they are just the best.

If you have a particular power bank you want to see tested, let me know.

      • What do you do with the power banks post testing for TechRadar?

        • +1

All the power banks in the TechRadar guide get long term testing. Basically I use them myself, or other staff / friends / family use them day to day. And I occasionally borrow them back (or swap them for something else) and run a capacity test.

For example, the Ugreen wireless power bank in the guide sits next to my bed and charges my phone overnight, and then is plugged in to charge, and repeat.

I buy and give away the INIU B6 every time it has a deep discount. So have about 8 out in the world that I will swap / borrow back every 6 months or so.

Generally speaking though I have not seen any real signs of anything other than minimal capacity loss from wear or aging.

          • @Prong:

nice - good for long term testing :)

      • Any chance you've tested this one - UGREEN 100W Power Bank 20,000mAh Battery Pack [https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0C3GTMX5M/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_3?smid=AJ0L91KOBUX7C&psc=1] or have any thoughts?

Had a quick search to see if I could come across a TechRadar review. Found the 145W one but nothing for the 100W one.

        • No I have not. Mostly just because of time to review every power bank that I want. It's on the list though.

  • can’t hang out till Amazon prime day next week.

So you're telling me it'll be cheaper next week…

    • +1

Probably. Maybe not this specific power bank. Maybe not for very long. Maybe not much cheaper.

Afterwards I will do a comparison and see what ended up being discounted further or not.

      • +6

Hard to pull the trigger on this when its been much much lower in recent history.

        • Yep - always a trade off. If you don't need it right now, IMO wait and see whatPrime Day brings.

          • @Prong: Really appreciate your input throughout this thread. Will be looking for your post on prime day!

  • You mention P63 doesnt have PPS - so the P64 has PPS, and supports Samsung 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0?

Cheers - look forward to your review!

    • +2

      Yep - the B64 has PPS. 3.3V - 21V 5A on USB-C 1 and 3.3 - 11V 4.5A on USB-C 2.

So both ports should support Samsung SFC 2.0 with no issue.

However I have not tested this personally yet, as I don't have a Samsung phone. I have been sick so working from home until symptoms clear so have not been able to borrow a phone from a colleague to confirm 100%.

      • GWS mate🙏, thanks for your indepth review and knowledge shared! 💯

  • Great brand. Been happy (Steam Deck too) with my 140 watter. 👍

  • How are they compared to zyron?

    • Or xiaomi

    • +1

The Zyron power banks I have tested don't give the rated capacity with a reasonable efficiency loss and struggle to maintain the rated output.

I have only tested a few though - the 10,000 mAh and the 30,000mAh.

All the INIU tested so far have been excellent.

  • Can you help me understand laptop charging standards? What does a 65W charger need to have to support usb-c fast charging of laptops (apple/dell/HP etc)?

    • It needs to have a PD (Power Delivery) protocol on the USB-C output essentially.
      https://www.androidauthority.com/usb-power-delivery-806266/

    • +2

For most laptops you need a power bank that does 20V output. Any charger that says it does 65W (or higher) will do 20V output.

So the INIU B62 can output 65W (20V, 3.25A) so will charge a laptop. (Review here)

65W is enough for most laptops, but some prefer 100W. Others will run from much less, and there are 30W power banks that output 20V and can charge laptops.

    • I got this charger and found it wouldn't charge my Lenovo, but besides that it works fine to charge an android phone at 55W. I commented to that effect on Amazon then a rep contacted me to send a refund - I didn't even have to send the charger back, so that is pretty good service. It's mostly the Lenovo's fault I think for being too picky, although the problem could be avoided if the INUI had a dedicated "out" socket that runs at the highest power.

      • Yeah sometimes that happens, and like you say a dedicated out port avoids the issue. But they are not super common.

The underlying problem is both the laptop and the power bank not agreeing on who should charge who. Sometimes different cables or unplugging and replugging helps.

One workaround is a USB-C to laptop DC plug. Cable or adapter. That way the power bank outputs 20V and the laptop sees it as normal charger.

I haven't tried a Lenovo one. But have tried one on an old Dell without issue. It should work fine but the laptop may decide it's not a suitable charger.

Heaps of options on AliExpress or for more dollars on Amazon.

Need to wait for deal like this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/845631

    • I got lucky with that deal. I was in a training course that day at work and was returning to the meeting room as lunch was about to end. As I always do, I quickly refresh the OzB page and this popped up. Since I was logged into my work laptop on Amazon, I ran to my laptop and put the order in. at about the 18 minute mark, the deal expired.

  • I have the 140W B64, great powerbank although I notice that if you leave a cable plugged into power bank but not into another device, it'll slowly drain the power bank. Didn't happen for my old Romoss or Anker power banks. Maybe you can check that during your review?

    • Interesting - I will test. What type of cable (EG, USB-C to USB-C, or USB-A to Lightning etc) and plugged into which port in the power bank?

      • i've noticed it on both usb-c ports when i use a genuine Apple Usb-c to lightning cable.

        • The Apple cable is likely the culprit here. The Apple USB to lighting cable has a little circuit inside that consumes power and keeps many power banks awake.

That said, checking just now, the INIU B64 does send a tiny amount of voltage (0.03V) out even when off. In comparison, the B6 doesn't have any output voltage when off.

I suspect this is the B62 monitoring for cables being plugged in. It may be that it doesn't do it when there is no active voltage measurement device plugged in. I will investigate further )I need to make a custom test cable) but I don't think it is a source of appreciable power loss.

          • @Prong: Ah, let me test more myself with non Apple USB-C cable and even a USB-A cable, will let you know.

            • @jmeister: I dug out my USB-C to Lightning cable and yeah it does pull enough power to keep the B64 awake and supplying the 5V 0.1W the cable is using (the screen goes to sleep). On mine it used 15% capacity in 12 hours.

Lightning cables do this on many power banks. The power bank thinks a low wattage device is plugged in (like charging headphones) and so keeps supplying the very small amount of power. I checked and none of the normal USB-C or USB-A cables I have keep the B64 awake (as expected, since they don't draw any power themselves).

This problem is more of an issue on higher end power banks in my experience, because they have the smarts to know something is still plugged in. Many cheaper power banks have the opposite problem - low current devices don't pull enough power to keep the power bank awake, and it turns off. Some power banks have a specific low current mode that keeps the power bank on just to deal with this.

As a comparison, the B6 (10,000mAh) has a higher threshold (or less sensitive power usage detection) for the amount of power used that will keep it awake, so shuts off after a short while with the USB-C to Lighting cable plugged in if it's not charging anything.

              • @Prong: Nice! Thanks for finding the answers for me! I also tested non-Apple cables overnight and also didn't see any power draw. Guess my old powerbanks just didn't detect this low power draw whereas this INIU one does. Interestingly, the INIU display shows power draw but I guess it doesn't show a 0.1W draw either, so just looks like battery is slowly draining.

    • My romoss continues to charge/drain after the phone is 100%. Would be nice if it went to sleep but just have to remember to unplug it.

  • +4

    Hodl ?

  • I use the 140W B64 for my portable groovebox/ synth setup and it works well.

I especially like that i can plug in USB-C power once the power bank gets a little low and the PD doesn't drop and renegotiate causing my devices to power cycle and lose data.

It's often at this 20% off price though. Might wait a little and pick up another if it drops further

  • Bought 2 x BI-62 at $30 deal and both works well!

    • Are they massive?

      • similar size to my iphone 15 pro, but twice thicker

  • DO you think the INIU B63 will suffice to charge my Surface Laptop on the go for a say an extra 1-2 hours of use or should i go for the next one up?

    • Which Surface Laptop? (depends on the laptop battery size)

      • Surface Laptop 2 for now but I might get a 5 this year for the USB C

        • The Surface Laptop 2 appears to have a battery around 47Wh. Assuming similar charging efficiency to other laptops I have tested, the INIU 92.5Wh B63 would give about 1.2 full charges to the Surface Laptop 2.

So it would at least double your normal battery run time.

You can read a bit more about calculating how many charges you will get from a power bank in the FAQ in my TechRadar best power bank buyers guide.

  • +3

Hopefully a repeat of this deal on prime day too

    • Yeah that would be nice. I missed that one.

  • I've got the 20000mAh 45w version and it's early days but happy with it so far.

  • A little confused by commentary, will this charge an S24 Ultra @45w? If not which model would suit?

    • +1

Yep it will charge at up to 45W. You need to use the second USB-C port on the power bank. You can read my TechRadar INIU B62 review here.

I specifically tested this on a Samsung phone to confirm it does SFC 2.0.

Keep in mind this is up to 45W charging. That's the brief peak charge rate, and most of the charge cycle is less than 45W. But it's great for a brief, very fast top up when under 50% charge.

  • I just ordered a B64, thanks for the post OP! I didn't think I needed a power brick but picked up a cheap one off OzBargain a few years ago because that's what all the cool kids were doing. Since then we've worn it out and purchased a 2nd one! We use them to death around the house, supplementing laptop chargers and when travelling. Even during the odd blackout it's nice to know there's a little energy tucked away to keep everyone's devices going, lord forbid we are forced to converse with each other :-)

  • How long does it usually takes to charge the power bank it self??

    • It depends on the power bank. Around two hours is typical, but some can charge faster and are done in a bit over an hour.

  • Just out of curiosity, would we need 'Prime' membership to get the deals on 'Prime day'?

    • Not all the deals. But there will be plenty of Prime only deals. For those you need a Prime subscription. You can sign up for a free one month trial though and then cancel before the month is up.

  • What is the heat resistance of this powerbank?

    • +2

Similar to a phone. So keep it between 0º and ~45º max.

So don't leave it in a hot car or in direct sunlight. If it does get left somewhere hot, let it cool off before using it.

  • These seem pretty good - will keep an eye out on prime day :P
(and take any other recommendations, airport friendly 20,000 - 27,000mAh).

  • No cheap deals since this one, but currently $55 (which is a bit much when they should be ~$35)
Are you better off using the 36W port for charging phones (instead of the 65w port), or they only draw what they need (ie 30W pixel 8 etc)?

I'm not sure of Bauhn as a brand but may test out the Aldi one.
Is this INIU still worth another $5 over Aldi one?

The Baseus 65W Power Bank 26800mAh is ~$53 with ebay plus, just researching to see if it's any good (seems a bit hit and miss).

    • +1

$35 would be a crazy good price. $55 is decent value, considering the features and 3 year warranty. If you don't need all the features of the B62, then yeah there are cheaper power banks.

Out 2 is the best port to use if your device being charged supports PPS. (Pixel 8 does). Out 1 is best if charging a device that doesn't support PPS or needs more than 12V. Like a laptop.

      I haven't tested the 26800mAh Baseus. I have the 30,000mAh version and it's excellent.

I haven't tested the Aldi power bank. It's probably fine.

Personally I'd go the INIU because having tested a bunch of their power banks, they use high quality cells and electronics. And are prepared to back that up with a three year warranty. They aren't perfect, but are consistently very good.

      • Thanks mate was waiting for someone to offer expert advice. Yeah I think the INIU sounds solid, maybe it's the new Romoss. Will try the aldi one a bit longer, think it's fine without any bells.

All of those are good choices around $50
