Released in June 2015 btw. These things are almost 10 years old!

I have a fake one I bought 8 years ago for 20$, still going strong 😂

It looked identical just the Chinese girls voice"connecteded to blueeetuutooth" was the giveaway
, the e has fallen off tho so it's a Bos now.

@AuQld: da bluuuuetoooose deviiice is riieddy to pair

    • +3

that might be the original mico-usb version.

these are USB-C so this stock wouldn't be that old

      • I just use the base dock, but I think they discontinued that for the soundlink mini II SE iirc.

  • +7

Yeah I imagine the batteries would be a little worse for wear by now but gosh darn the sound they put out is good. Probably my favourite Bluetooth speaker.

    • +1

They could still be making new ones, who knows.

    • Mine is 8 years old and still get three hours of battery life and it is the original before the micro usb model and has the plug adapter and docking base. Also new batteries are replaceable at least it is in mine.

  • +1

If this has sdcard slot i will be buying it.

  • +2

It is good but I prefer sound flex, which has IPX7. It also has companion app compatibility, which lets you pair it up with another SoundLink speaker.

don't get it, useless if battery dies

    • +1

I bought a replacement battery and its working fine again

    • +2

Definitely not useless, I bought one on eBay with a dead battery and once replaced its working great. The seller even included the replacement battery just wasn't able to figure out how to replace.

    • Replacement batteries are plentiful and easy to replace.

    • +2

very easy battery replacement as per this, https://www.bose.com.au/en_au/support/articles/HC202/product…

      • This isn't completely true, that is for the older version of this speaker. The current one uses a soldered battery, but it comes out in the same way and requires to be de-soldered from a daughter board.

    • Replacement battery

    • Mine is 8 years old and still going strong!

  • 6.3 rating for music from rtings? Is this thing sounds crap?

Its known for sounding great, ignore this random site

      • +13

        lol random site

Na I love the sound from these, they are my favourite sounding portable speaker.

The sound may not be "technically" great when they measure it using instrumentation, but it's tuned to be great on the ears IMO.

    • +2

As someone who likes their audio gear, with many headphones, iems and also a desktop speaker setup, I find that this is not good at all. Mine is surprisingly tinny sounding, with mids and treble quite recessed and with the soundstage being tiny. I don't know if it is my particular device and without another one to try I can't really prove otherwise. My old JBL Flip 3 was far and away a better speaker.

I don't hate Bose products as my Soundlink Resolve is excellent for what it does.

    • It's somewhat bass forward, but this can easily be dialed back w source EQ. Incredible the amount of sound this puts out for its size.

    • +4

By audiophile standards - very average.

By average consumer standards - fantastic.

    • The joke that's been running for over twenty years is that Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment.

  • +7

Had mine for 8 years now battery still going strong lasts for a week

    Quality made with quality sound

  • I had to enter in the code twice fyi, once to go through the cart system, then it will wipe the code so you have to start again and it will work

  • Out of stock now

    • The silver version still in stock

      • Thanks mate. I don’t know if I need it, but just placed the order 😝

        • me too, i already have the old one😅

        • me as well.. haha.

    • Black was out of stock Saturday back but in stock Sunday. They may manually update availability so worth checking again tomorrow

EDIT: Black showing in stock now

  • I have two of this one. The quality is just so good!!!

    • can they do party mode?, ie play 2 as stereo.

      • Not so sure about that tho…

      Code used, thanks

  • +1

The best PC soundbars if you have a compact desk.

  • Can you use it as a TV soundbar?

    • No, this is just a basic portable speaker. The tv speakers should be better

      • +1

I’m not sure I’d agree with you there.

  • +1

    OoS

    • Shows in stock now

    • gone again

  • cheers! will help drown out the screaming

    • If you stop pulling their teeth they might stop screaming ;)

  • these are great. not many compact BT speakers left with AUX in I found.
I recently used mine to connect my mini DJ controller on a recent boys trip.
was great for mixing tunes in the hotel room over some drinks

they dont get as loud as the logitech boom etc but i found these have a more balanced/rich sound

  • Was cheaper in the good'ol days when codes used to stack 🤣

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/504484

    Might still work 🤔

If sm1 got 2 codes, give that a go

Steps were as follows (If I remember them correctly)

    1. Add to Cart
    2. Duplicate the cart tab
    3. Apply first code in tab 1
    4. Jump to tab 2 (DO NOT REFRESH)
    5. Apply the code 2

    🤞

    • lol that's when I got mine. Still use it every day.

  • I was a little disappointed that it doesn't come included with a charging cradle like the original Soundlink Mini.

However, sound quality is great and since I've owned the Mini II SE it's been my favourite bluetooth speaker. I also own a Soundlink Flex, but I prefer the audio of the Mini II SE.

  • +1

I have one of these on my desk. Amazing how such a tiny speaker can fill a bedroom with good quality sound.
