[PC, Steam] Left 4 Dead 2 $1.45 (90% off) @ Steam

1800

Cheapest ever price and a total bargain considering the amount of content and re-playability offered. Runs on a potato👍

A masterpiece in multiplayer design and just a really fun game. Still active online and tones of mods that will enhance the already stellar experience.

Best zombie game to date IMO "Saferoom up ahead!"

Best coop game ever for me. Still a huge amount of fun playing this with mates. So many custom maps too.

    • Same for me, best multiplayer game I ever played. Yes, great mod maps too! Urban Flight is a good one 👍

    • LOTR ones were the best !

        @Lizard Spock

Max Payne is still one of my favourites👍

  • Haven't played this, but what can you get for under $2 these days… bargain.

    • +4

Haha, not much! Perhaps the epitome of a bargain, considering how hours many most players will sink into this one 😅

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

The post referenced is for the bundle.

Yea so easy to pick up and play without lengthy intros or tutorials. Basically mechanics that works and has so much replayability even with the standard maps.

Wished Steam got off their ass and wrote more stories and created a 3rd installment.

They don't even need to change the gameplay. Keep it simple but have more engaging environments and maps. Engaging like running on a rollercoaster etc. Maybe add an few extra infected.

I hate how all these new games have all these power mods and level upgrades for weapons just pick up and go is the play.

Maybe have a variety of weapons depending on the situation but the arsenal should be limited and expendable.

    • Yes indeed, probably a perfect example of an "easy to play, hard to master" FPS, I wish more games like this were made these days.

Could not agree more, This game deserves more love! Even if they just ported it to the Source 2 engine, it would enhance the graphics somewhat, but even more importantly the games stability when modding would greatly improve.

If they then added a handful of new campaigns (perhaps even a community collab like The Last Stand) to freshen things up a bit, it would be a very welcome and deserved gift to the L4D community imo, and really would not be a great deal of effort compared to making a whole new sequel, especially for a company as big as Valve.

I really wish they would do this, I think the timing is right and if it goes well it could spark enough interest for a sequel to be a guaranteed success, which it probably already would be anyway, providing they didn't monumentally F it up, but it's Valve, so that is pretty unlikely.

This is a really good game.

I used to play this so much before i got married.

I have to settle with World War Z these days on the Switch to play late at night when everyones asleep lol

  • +2

Hours spent on this game and worth every dime.

    Long live l4d2!!

    • May the servers never go down! ✊✊✊✊

Ooh I had this game since forever but never fired it up. I'll have to give it a go given all the glowing reviews.

The cheapest price ever when Gaben gave it for free on Christmas day 2013.

    • touche! I admire the purity of your Oz Bargain spirit 👍

Yeah I made 4 extra accounts for that lol

    GOAT zombie game!

    • This is facts👍

  • +6

Remember when this game was banned and they had to release a censored version with no blood and the zombies bodies would disappear… Yeh that was so stupid.

    • +3

I definitely remember this, I refused to buy the terrible censored version and bought a physical copy from overseas for about $20 !

    • +3

Oh yea forgot about that nonsense lol.
I had someone "gift" it to me from overseas which bypassed it.

Did they uncensor it at some point? Did the censored versions become normal or are people still playing like that 😂

      • +5

The Steam version has a free "uncensor" DLC for the Australian version since 2014, which brings it in line with the version that the rest of the world had from the beginning.

      • +1

I also got it as a birthday gift from one of my clan pals back in 2010, was fully uncensored!…

These days there's an optional DLC you can grab that just unlocks the R18 stuff, Maybe that was cheaper than applying for reclassification, or something, this is in my imagination… lmao…

  • +1

Is this still active? Used to play soo much of this, but a few years ago it was difficult to find public games. And they were all running mods which got annoying.

    Maybe time to reinstall

    • +1

Yes, I've been playing it recently and I can usually always find a public game straight away. Definitely not dead, and at only 14GB for the base game, it should always be installed imo.

That way, you can always take out some frustration on the hordes at a moments notice! 😅

    • best way is to connnect to LA server in the steam settings, the ping will be 200ish but sooo many lobby active games there compared to here

  • +2

I still haven't really found a replacement for this game. Most of others in the horde shooters genre is very different feeling.

    • I agree, the feel of this game is second to none! It really is the king of zombie shooters imo, perhaps it always will be?

      • +1

        It's clearly second to L4D…. :p

Sorry for stealing your thunder @jv

  • +4

OZBARGAIN MULTI PLAYER STEAM LEFT 4 DEAD NIGHT!

  • +3

Is Australia still on the low violence version?

    • Thankfully there is now a dlc patch that restores cut content (for those who bought a censored Australian version), so it's now the full game as was intended, apparently this change was made many years ago. I was not aware because I bought my copy from overseas.

  • +2

Runs on a potato. Made me laugh as it's so true. Best game ever in single or multiplayer!

    • Haha, yeah one of the bonus features of this venerable game! I agree, for me, it's easily one of the best games ever made 👍

  • +2

Just bought this and tried on my steam deck. Controls work beautifully with trackpad and gyro.

  • bloody brilliant game give it 5 stars if you havent played it.

  • +1

Still one of my favourite multiplayer fps!
We had lan parties and play this during the uni days. Good memories ❤️

  • if people don't have this game by now they have lived under a rock for 20 years lol

  • +1

best mutiplayer game ever created, this is coming from a guy who has played RDR2 TLOU 1-2 and all GTA games, this is the most fun ive had and still play it to this date, i got 3000 hours over 10 years with it

  • +1

Does it still have enough players online to be able to play it regularly?

    • +1

After 3000 hours. That's the reason I had to stop and move on. In Australia the game was dominated by maybe only 50 regular players and there were all hardcore players who used to play competitive.

I hope the landscape has changed since then because it's been about 10 years.

You can look at the server list here, maybe more players during peak hours

    What servers in Oz?

  • +2

It must be a blast with the amount of votes but unfortunately I get dizzy playing these fast paced 3d shooters.

Some tips for dealing with this issue

      Most common causes:

FOV - recommend at least 95, but also not too much as in some games that can cause fisheye effect.

Head bobbing or camera sway when running - turn off if possible.

Low framerates or uneven framerates - reduce settings to stabilized fps.

Distance from monitor. Don't sit too close, you should see entire monitor from edge to edge without moving your eyeballs.

Turn off Motion blur, Chromatic Aberration, and any other distortion effects.

Even after all the years past, L4D is still one of the best PVE games available. Great for team building, if you're into that kind of stuff. But equally great for a drunken Saturday night with three good mates. Worth 10 time this price!

  • Oh did the price go back up to normal already? Thought I still had time… bummer

  • Missed it, back to $14.5

  • Annoying, missed it too
