Still waiting for it goes under $400…

      • You want under $400? Ok just wait for me to buy one at normal $550 can guarantee it will drop to $400 within a week after purchase

    • +1

We don't know how to make a $500 computer that's not a piece of junk
      — Steve Jobs, earnings call, 21 October 2008.

      • Take into account the inflation rate, USD$500 in 2008 will now be around USD$730. So is this iPad considered a piece of junk?

        • +1

          is this iPad a computer?

          • +1

@mantichoral: Not sure, I wonder why you quoted that line in the first place?

            • @edfoo: That was a wierd conversation. Maybe it was a trap and you walked right into it.

  • This is pretty good. I use it to play rhythm games.

    • +1

Anything else? From memory i used my last one to play piano tiles……………… Honestly that might have been all

  • -2

It’s not any better than 9th Gen is it?

    • +14

      It's significantly better.

    • -1

      typec?

    • -1

      It's a whole generation better.

  • Is there anyway to price beat without visiting store?

    • -1

      Online chat.

      • There is no online chat and call centre is closed for weekend.

  • Any good price on the 256Gb iPad?

    • +2

Same link as above just change to 256gb comes up $804.65(says 5% off). Most regular stores $837 except COSTCO $799.99 but need membership. If you find better, can you let me know.

  • any good covers?

    • +1

Yes the ESR folio cover is surprisingly good, good material and design, doesn't seem like a crappy knockoff. Bought on Amazon for around 15 if memory serves

  • +12

    Umart Is $549, PBG @ OfficeWorks $521.55

    • Thanks

    • Thanks. Bought via this method.

Pity these don't work with the newer pens, but alas, I've now ordered a cheapie from Aliexpress GooJoDoq 14 which for this model will be more than good enough.

  • +6

Jbhifi did this for me for $525 in-store Southland

    • Today?

    • How did you manage that? They never want to discuss discounting Apple products when I try

      • Try going on a Sunday and talking to one of the less successful salespeople. If they haven’t hit their weekly target and there’s a genuine price match to achieve you will have a much better chance, especially if you’re also buying a cover or screen protector with it.

        • How you going to speak to a “less successful salesperson”? You think they holding a sign ?

          • +1

@87percent: I usually speak to them in English.

The least successful salespeople generally can’t dance, so perhaps challenge them to a dance off.

All I was really suggesting is to try asking one of the more shy or less confident looking team members. They might be the most successful there, it is hard to tell, but their sales teams do have budgets to meet.

I went to the counter and asked for an ipad, the person called someone over, I told them what I wanted and they went and got it (pink 64gb for my daughter) then I asked if they could beat the Apple education store price ($559).

The guy said he could do it for $525 and also mentioned that Amazon prime day wouldn't even probably come close, he was in a good mood I guess? (02/07/2024)

        • Receipt please

          • +2
            • @Kammi: Haha did they scam you with an ‘extended warranty’? You paid over retail that’s why he was in a good mood!

              • +2

@opilot87: You know what, you are right and I'm going to cancel the coverage. It's cheaper via Apple for the iPad.

                @apple $69 2yrs + $49 accidental damage vs

                $129 2yrs + $65 for a swap with squareup

Tbh I didn't think twice when offered the insurance thingy given I was stoked with the price beat, I know the Apple has 7 day no questions thing and actually thought I was buying the Apple insurance. I didn't read any of the docs until much later and realised it was via squareup.

So yeah I'll cancel with the 30-day cooling off period and thanks for making me double check 👍

                • +2

@Kammi: Haha didn’t think of the cooling off period, that’s a fantastic bargaining strategy - mention you will be buying insurance and they will fall at your feet with discounts. Walk out the door and cancel!

                  • +1

@opilot87: It wasn't a bargaining strategy tbh, I asked for the price match to education store, he offered the iPad discounted, I agreed, he offered the insurance, I agreed, then I paid at the counter and left!

I got the insurance refunded in store today, no questions asked which was super easy, and bought the Apple (my pricing is incorrect, it's $109+$65).

  • Is this the one with USB type C port?

    • Yep

  • M1 or bust.

  • Waiting on deals on runout M2 Pro’s or M1 Air’s. Or am I too late?

    • M1 Air was $600 from mobileciti's birthday sale a few weeks ago.

  • No Apple intelligence here.

  • OW seems to be running low on stock of these things. No stock at Old Guildford, got one from Wetherill Park

  • You can get it for around $503 if you take advantage of (a) current Coles 20x flybuys points on Apple gift cards (equals 10%) & (b) Apple Education 10% store discount.

    • +1

Only good if you’re a student. Or know someone who is a student, and will do it for u.

  • Asked Harvey Norman for a price matching and they refused and it is annoying to have gift card with them I guess I will wait.
New iPad 11th gen looks to have just a better cpu with A16 so not having AI and probably price of $599

    • Well, HN are known as Hardly Normal.

  • +2

Will wait till this becomes the price of the 9th gen

    • Even if u have to wait another yr⁉️🤣🤣 A friend of a cousin of mine, had an 8th Gen iPad and bought this 10th Gen only 2-3 (by end of April @$749 for the 64gb) b4 the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models were released. It went down to $599 when the 2 new iPad models were released. Any entry line of iPad should have 128gb. That’s why I would rather buy the Air and also, being lighter.

  • +2

thanks, got officeworks to price beat a grey one for $530

  • Is it still only the Cellular models that have GPS on-board or have they changed that in more modern lineup now?

  • How much of the 64gb is left after the OS and non-removable able apps is there?

  • +4

Managed to price beat https://www.umart.com.au/product/apple-10-9-inch-ipad-wifi-6… at $521.55 from OW

    • Thanks, just ordered one from OW

    • +1

Thanks - ordered one from OW for $521.55. Wife’s bday present sorted! 💪😄

  • +1

It's a good deal but my advice is don't buy it. Here's my reasoning:
    * iPad's on average get roughly 5 years of software support, to draw your own conclusions check the table on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPad (it lists all the iPads with release date, discontinuation of sale, support status and total support timeframe from release to end of support)
    * This iPad has already been out almost 2 years
    * The 11th Gen iPad is almost ready for sale (https://9meters.com/technology/tablets/ipad-11th-generation-…)

TLDR: I would argue that the amount of time you are paying for a supported device isn't worth the money.

  • Amazon listed as temporarily OOS for both silver and blue and OW refused to price match until and unless it comes back into stock.

    • +2

      Pricematch with Umart, link above
