[PC, Steam] The Many Worlds of Muv-Luv Bundle - 10 Visual Novels for $38.99 @ Humble Bundle

50

The content in this bundle is intended for mature audiences. Themes include partial nudity, suggestive situations and themes, as well as references to sexual acts in casual conversation for comedic effect. This game contains no explicit sexual or pornographic content, and all characters depicted are above the age of 18. User discretion is advised.

Lots of hype on reddit for this bundle so I thought I'd share it here. 4 Tiers but I imagine if you're getting this, you'll probably go all-in if unless you already have some of the Visual Novels from the higher tiers. Looks like the contents of this bundle is sold on Steam as the Muv-Luv Megaverse bundle and the historical low is $69.97. For roughly the price of Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Remastered, currently the historical low is $38.67, you get the whole lot. Humble also has the Muv-Luv Alternative Manga Anthology Book Bundle going, 17 Items for $27.28. I don't know how essential it is to get that as well. Maybe people familiar with the franchise can add their thoughts.

That's a lot of Muv-Luv to chomp on.

people familiar with the franchise can add their thoughts

These are centred around twists so best to avoid spoilers.
Muv-Luv (Alternative) is well regarded as Japanese shock dramas go. Really cool VN and a classic.
It's a direct sequel to "Muv-Luv" which is a bit average/dated imo, but should be read beforehand.
ULIMITED TDA is another sequel to the original with different characters and a more focused political story. Also very good.
Haven't read the others but they're spin-offs of (Alternative).

tl;dr - look up how to speed through the original, then read (Alternative) and decide if you want to read the spin-offs.
(or just get Soukou Akki Muramasa)

    • I've never really like VNs but these are held in high regard. I'll have to have a look at a suggested reading order before I start. I have seen that yeah best to go in without knowing anything.

Also read that the manga is kind of a slimmed down run through of maybe one of the branches of one of the VNs? If so, that doesn't sound like a must read.

Can't comment personally but that is probably correct, definitely the case for the anime adaptations.
Hope you enjoy if you decide to read them but if you're not a fan of VNs, Muv Luv actually defined lots of the tropey stuff associated with VNs today, especially the original which could unkindly be called entirely a gimmick.
I think MLA is really good but a lot of the acclaim comes from doing it first, rather than doing it best.

Maybe not liked isn't the right way to put it. I've just never really played them I guess. I do hope to eventually read this stuff, but it's just another thing in a very big pile of shame.

  • The codec is a fun read….There is a rather large backstory to the whole universe…… If you like your gundam deals, maybe this will be of interest!?

  • I own all but "The Imperial Capital Burns - Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse" dammit :( Not worth buying the whole bundle again….

edit: First ep of the anime here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eiO9uNOFGc&pp=ygUTbXV2IGx1d… so you get a 'slight' idea of the universe….
