Hi all, I was planning to replace the tyres for my 2016 Subaru Outback (225 60 R18) with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
But the guy at Bob Jane was strongly recommending that I go with the Yokohama Geolandar CV G058 instead as they have better longevity compared to the Pilot Sports. According to him, the P Sport 4s will only last 40,000kms or so, where as the YG G058s could last up to or more than 100,000kms. I'm looking for a set of tyres that will have reliable wet grip in the 'glorious' Melbourne cold wet weather and hopefully reduce the road noise. I mostly use the car for urban driving, school pick up/ drop offs, etc
The Bob Jane guy also mentioned that Yokohama offers free replacement and repairs through Bob Jane (and a few other ones like Tyrepower as well) if in case something happens to any of the tyres like a puncture, kerb scrape damage, etc.
The Michelin PS4s will cost me $1371 (including the wheel alignment at $89) The Yokohama Geolandar CV G058 will cost me $1241 (including the current free 4th tyre offer from Yokohama and the $89 wheel alignment.
Which of those is the better option long term?
You drive to the conditions? If so, Geolanders will do fine.
