Long post, did not read it all, wondering, stock levels in Melbourne at the moment??
I picked up a vest at North Coburg today. Plenty of stock of everything
5 days late but you can try the stock checker on their website.
These run a little big? I'm usually an XL but it seems I'm an L, and that is even slightly roomy for me in this men's jacket….
Looks pretty thin compared to one I already have.
You are NOT alone in thinking this. I'd read all the good hype about the jackets/vests and being an avid hiker decided to go grab one of the latter. Eek! They were shockingly underfilled with down, I mean so much so I seriously was thinking if there'd been a production flaw & they weren't filled at all! I then thought maybe they're squashed in transit & I'll give them a shake to fluff up/airate the down. Nah stayed the same.
Now I have a well regarded Aegismax goose down jacket I ordered from Aliexpress, yeah it's Ali but this is a known quality brand - and while it's comparing 2 different pricepoints I'd estimate the Aldi vests (& jacket too!) have around 1/4 or less the down in them than the Aegismax one, which also has superior goosedown.
IMHO its no secret why Aldi has not stated the down fill weights in either of these products, there's very little of it! I suspect they've cut back on the fill amount to keep the price down, but it seems a very ordinary product. Shame as build quality is decent.
Personally I'd pay a tad more for a product with more fill in it.

Shhh Sydney is in denial about winter. Just look at how poorly our homes are built.
