Credit Card Feedback - Macquarie to NAB

Hello,

Currently I have a Macquarie Black credit card (was part of Hilton Honors) however now that they have introduced annual fee I'll be closing it soon.

I am with NAB have the home loan annual choice package which allows me to apply for most NAB credit cards without paying annual credit card fees. Probably leaning towards NAB Rewards/Signature OR NAB Qantas Rewards Signature.

So just wanted to get some thoughts on when to apply for the NAB credit card. Before or after closing Macquarie one? Does it matter with the success of my approval? My concern is NAB possibly rejecting my credit card application.

Thanks!

if you have 1 credit card, chances are they will approve it. since you have a home loan with them, they already know your finances.

    • Thank you. I'm leaning towards closing Macquarie credit card first then applying for NAB credit card.

So they don't think I want 2 credit cards hopefully.

Ah, the good old days of Macquarie Hilton (with free Diamond status and one free night).

Diamond was very beneficial when we visited Maldives (Conrad and then two stays at the Waldorf Astoria) and Conrad Bora Bora. Sure, all those resorts pillaged my back pocket, but I probably would never have considered staying or affording those places without some assistance of this card.

Check with Macquarie again, I was told the annual fee waiver still applies.

Of those two Nab cards, the Nab rewards has no foreign exchange fees, whilst the Qantas version does. I would decide based on if this is important for you.

    • Thank you, yeah Macquarie couldn’t waive off fee anymore for me. Signed up & approved with NAB!
