    HEATY.

Fun fact: popcorn is named after its primary ingredient ‘corn’ which when exposed to heat causes it to expand creating a ‘popping’ sound.

  • Damn, the drizzl'd ones are so good but I don't want 15 of them.

Isn't it cheaper to just buy the kernels and make it fresh yourself? It's easy too, I personally feel it's better that way. And healthier too.

    • +2

You wouldn't say that if you ate Cobbs popcorn

    • I think this is two different targets here… Popping the kernels yourself without 200 calories of butter is a very different taste to this delicious stuff
If you want a low calorie higher volume snack, make it yourself with low to no butter
If you want to have a delicious snack while watching a movie and don't care, eat this (tastes so good)

Yep. Popcorn kernals, coconut oil and flavacol. Cheaper and tastes so good (much better than these Cobs packets imo).

      • Where do you buy flavacol from?
Reddit says it's just finely ground salt with butter artificial flavour.

I may give it a go, just to tick it off my list.

        • I bought mine from Ebay ('Fun Party Food' is the store). I'd recommend the 'Premier' Flavacol as it doesnt have the yellow dyes (5 and 6) that the regular version has.

The one carton will last for years as you only use a very small amount for a bowl of popcorn.

    • whats ur method ?

      • +1
        1. Heat a high smoke point oil till it shimmers
        2. Take it off the heat
        3. Add the kernels and toss to evenly coat them in the hot oil
        4. Add ½ tap salt and toss again
        5. Back on the stove, medium heat, partially covered. Do not fully cover it, you need to let the steam escape.
        6. Just keep popping till the popping slows to a couple of pops per second
        7. Take it off the heat, transfer to a huge bowl
        8. Melt Salted butter in the microwave
        9. Drizzle it over the pop corn and toss
        10. Add pepper, chicken salt or any other seasoning

Just make sure that whatever you add is finely powdered so it sticks well to the popped corn.

what I dont get is why Amazon prices are on par with Woolies. Amazon has no brick 'n' mortar stores.
considering the huge saving of not needing real-estate in every suburb, as well as drastically underpaying and overworking staff, shouldn't the prices be cheaper? I mean that was the whole benefit of eCommerce over a classic shopfront in the first place. why are people paying it?

its evident woolies margin is considerably less, and the fact they make the effort to buy land, build a massive building for our convenience. i think woolies deserve your $ more so

    • Amazon should be cheaper for those reasons.
It may be the convenience of buying online from Amazon for Prime Members and they may have some Amazon promo credits and gift cards to use.
Woolies has less upvotes although they stock all the varieties: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/854232

      Delivery?

i think woolies deserve your $ more so

I think the business that gives their customers the best service deserves my money. Hint, that’s Amazon.

Soon as Amazon expands to full groceries, I will never buy from ColesWorth again. Then I won’t have to deal with deliveries that constantly miss the selected time window, limited click & collect availability, stuff being out of stock (despite being in stock at the time of ordering) so I have to go in store anyway and either the packer missing items or the delivery person forgetting a bag.

Thank goodness Woolworths refunds are super easy with their chatbot because I have to partially refund about 60% off orders.

      • I've only just started getting woolworths deliveries this year but I've had no issues yet to speak off so my experience has been great thus far

      • Or any fresh produce you order being the oldest stuff they can find
