Be vary of these Indian stores.
They constantly sell expired stock relabelled as within dates.
No complaints will be entertained.

  I have found that to be the case with stores that sell bulk grains in general. To avoid it you need to teach yourself to identify fresh legumes/grains by sight and try to shop at busier stores.
  
  For popcorn and rice it doesn't really matter but old legumes have a terrible texture
