Pricing Changes
We’ve declared in the past that Jaded would release completely free of charge. We still want to honor this, so the game will be free for the first five days upon release. This means you can get and keep the game for free if you get it in the first 5 days - so keep an eye out for more announcements! Still, we’ve poured a lot of our lives into making this project, so we’ve decided the game will cost $4.99 afterwards.

About the game

Platform and fight past spikes and enemies in Jaded, a linear 2D side-scrolling platformer. Slow down time using your 360-degree directional dash, and lock on to targets to strike! See the snowy mountains, dense forests, volcanic caves, and abandoned laboratory. Killed by enemies or spikes? Instantly respawn at the start of the room, giving you an infinite number of tries to overcome the challenge!

The Jaded beta includes Level 1, Level 2, and half of Level 3, each taking at most an hour to beat. In its current state, players can expect finished levels, music, three save files, and secret collectibles scattered across the map to discover.

Play At Your Own Pace!
Slow down time to evaluate the situation - then strike!
Or, dash your way through levels at supersonic speeds!

Fight or Flight?
Battle your way through various enemies - watch out, three hits and you’re dead!

Take in the Ambience
Travel through a multitude of environments on your journey to… do what exactly?

Stay Tuned!
Watch out for new levels, bosses, a complete story, and more in the full release of the game!

This type of retro platformer is pretty common and somewhat popular. A bit of a niche but this one looks decent for the genre.

      • I'd rather play commander keen!

Compared with $50 games, sure. But for free? If you're into retro platformers, this is rated 96% positive on Steam, so it must be alright.

FWIW, this seems like a great first release for an indie dev, and it's so hard to get noticed among the sea of games nowadays.

Looks pretty decent to me. Plenty of good reviews sealed the deal. I’m actually going to play on my steam deck. Hopefully its compatible

        Updates
        - on steam deck compability: unplayable on Steam deck. Can launch the game and started the tutorial but you cannot dash to continue
        - they said they were launching in October. Hopefully more controller support by then. As of now theres no story yet because of early access (beta v0.6.6)

You're a beginner. Way more here.

    • Congrats. Gabe is coming to your house to have a Steam party.

    • Haha, how cute. I'm approaching the 2000 mark lol

  • Maybe I'm just a little jaded, but there are way too many of these free games lately.
