  • 83" S90D vs G4, $4699 with soundbar vs $6675 with soundbar.

Is the $2k difference really worth it? Dolby vision probably doesn't matter much if I'm just streaming and not buying blu-rays?

  • +1

Pretty good price. I got a 83 inch LG G4 with the LG S95TR soundbar for $7000 delivered last weekend with a bit of negotiating. Good luck with the deals everyone.

    • How is the soundbar?

  • Doesn't work on FFalcon brand for those loving the cheap.

  • What's everyone's thoughts on these options?

    Samsung QN85D 75" v LG QNED91 75"

    Or possibly LG QNED86 86".

Did think about some of the other OLED (LG C4, S90D etc) options but they're probably a little too expensive for what I would be using them for - Netflix, firestick etc.

Room will have the tv against one wall and a sofa facing it straight on (3.5m away) and only one window which can be closed off.

    Thanks everyone

  • Harvey Norman has beat this offer for most of the brands (except for LG TVs) at 22% off when combined with the same brand soundbars

Use the additional discount when chatting to JB ppl

    • JB are also advertising 22% off now for the soundbar bundle.

    • HN are now doing LG at 22%

Finally did it after almost 18 months of looking hehe replacing our 13 year old 55inch lg with the c4 77 inch and s40t (guys said bring it it and can refund) for $3693 shipped. The pricing system in store sill only shows %20 off he just matched the on line price pays checking hey!

  • Anyone have success returning the soundbar for either jb or Harvey Norman after purchasing in store?

  • +2

LoL, got all my JB giftvouchers lined up, check HV website when before I left, no LG TVs and sound bar deals, ok, off to JB. Paid $6675.20 for a 83" G4 and sound bar. Come back from lunch, Harvey Norman are $433 cheaper….do'h! Seeing if JB cant match now.
Either shop has a 4-6 week wait for the TV.
    Hopefully JB come good.

    • +1

JB have a10 day best price guarantee I believe

      • +1

Cheers, assumed they'd have something. Crazy good deal, HN are $6242.34 for the 83" G4 and a sound bar.

        Edit: JB price matched

  • +1

@Ben Fitz Interesting, I tried to get JB hifi to price match via live chat and they wouldn't match Harvey Norman's price. The reason they used is out of stock for 6 weeks even though that's the case for them as well!

I'm not keen on ordering and then asking them to match afterwards!

    • Just use Harvey Norman if JB wont match :)
Went down and got the $433 refund from JB :)

      • I know it goes against the ozbargain ethos but I will pay more rather than buy from Gerry

  • How do i get away with this crime im about to commit? Im after Lg c4 83inches, any suggestions how the wife cannot notice it?
Currently have a 65 pana fz950 oled in the living room and 55 pana vt30 in home office. So Lg will be going to living room, and pana oled to home office.

    • -2

First thing is to stop thinking about it as a crime. I'm assuming it's your money too? Start acting like it…

      • I definitely worked hard for it my bro. :)

    • Get the G4 83 instead, and justify on wall mounting sleekness and looks…..? ;-)

      • Yeah been eyeing G4 since release, bt i could not justify the price difference.

Just an FYI, spoke to Harvey Norman and you can pre order the unreleased Sony Bravia 9 with this discount up until tommorow. Pair it with Sonys $199 soundbar and that’s a massive discount on a brand new tv.

    • Can’t justify how Sony is way higher priced than the LGs lol
But then again I own the A80K

      • It’s a toss up for me between a G4 or the Bravia 9. As previously mentioned I’ve been through 2 OLED screens on my C8. My wife has the TV on all day as she works from home so I think that’s a big reason for the burn in. I’m leaning towards the B9 as I’m over dealing with burn in.

  • Thoughts about the LG C4 55" vs TCL C855 65" vs Hisense U8NAU 65" (all for around $2k with the soundbar)

Sitting 2.5-3m away from the screen. Usually watch at night (though kids might play video games or watch netflix after school). We usually watch shows and movies via streaming.

(Currently got a 7 year old Sony 49" Bravia 4k)

    • +3

Ive got a 55” sony OLED about same distance away, honestly I feel its too small and need to go at least 65 possibly 75.

      • Damn

        • +1

          You'd be going from 49" to 55-65…its fine.. logic…

Go the TCL for the brightness and gaming, extra 10" wins over the OLED considering the budget

          • @LaGallina: Other option within budget is the Sony 65" X90L

The interface & longevity is important to me hence not sure about the Chinese brands

            • @AncientWisdom: Your not wrong.. my Sony x90h from 4 years ago is going strong!
However TCL purchased 6years ago had 3 mainboard changes… Then replaced, then months later died (essentially a new tv!) guess it was refurb.

  • @RogueWolf

    • not duplicate, thats 55/65 deal

      • Ah sorry papi

Can people please confirm that you can actually return the soundbar with no issues?
as in they won't force you to return the TV also?
    I'm reading mixed comments here.

Spoken to GG, and JB hifi on the phone, both sort of said if i return the soundbar i would have to pay the difference or something

    • +1

JB state on their website you have 30 days to return a product if unused and unopened with packaging in good condition. https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053005194…

I would push the staff that they would have to refund you the sound bar as their website doesn't make an exception to deals like this.

      • +1

Agree nothing in the T&Cs of the soundbar deal, and they have the general return policy - but may have to push for it/fight for, if resisted.

Surprised JB hasnt already updated T&Cs - or perhaps they either still make enough cut, or just happy to have ppl come through their doors for exposure!

    • I had the same concern but purchased a Samsung TV and soundbar last night, got the deal and successfully returned the soundbar for a refund today.

Click and collected and paid with Afterpay too if that helps.

  • Hi all, confirming that you can definitely return the unopened soundbar for a refund.

I purchased a 55” Samsung Frame tv and the cheapest Samsung soundbar I could find last night. Picked the two up at Bondi Junction and went back to return the soundbar today with no questions asked.

Bought a PS5 with the proceeds lol

  • +2

JB jacked their base prices up massively so no longer cheap after discount :(

    • Yeah, got a nasty surprise when I went in store today to check the TVs out in person. Missed out on getting the 65" Sony X90L + soundbar for $1752.

    • Ahh thanks, was trying to work out how OP said C4 65" works out to be ~2.3k after returning sound bar because its more like 3.2k for me.

  • Indecision and i missed this one

  • Can anyone confirm when this promo ends? JB's site has conflicting dates, the front page banner ad says 10th July, but the banner ad on all the TV pages say 7th July?

Prices have gone up so not worth a deal anymore

      • Yeah maybe now for the LG's. I ordered the 83" G4 the other night when it was cheap but stock isn't due until mid August, so tossing up switching to the 85" Bravia 9 for the same price

  • I was denied returning the sound bar unless I wanted to return the C4 too :(

Couldn't find reference in T&C about the rule.

    Bit sketchy terms?

    • same here. Wouldn't let me return the soundbar alone. End up returning both the TV & soundbar. There always will be another cheap TV deal.

      • +1

I would have bought both off you!

      • Geez. Next time get them to point to that restriction in the T&Cs - there's nothing there! Worthy of fighting IHMO for those savings!

        • +1

Yeah if it's not clearly stated, not stated at all or if there is ambiguity/hidden terms, you can definitely push your case. Gonna depend on customer persistence and also how pissed off the store manager is that day, with 10 OzBers trying to return the same cheapo soundbar.

  • Might be best for classified but if anyone does wish to sell their TV and soundbar if they are not able to get a refund, plz dm :)

  • Heyho team,
People who got the G4 83” on this deal, any updates on your delivery date?
    Thanks

  • +1

Returned soundbar no issues so c4 77 costed under $3500

    • +1

Same here. I did wait till today as it felt a little too soon last week if everyone else was trying it.
      No dramas returning it.

Will see what the sound is like on the TV first, and get a sound bar next sale if I really need one.

  • Just when I start looking for deals and I come across this post! Looks like I have missed out. I guess it is hard to predict the future but any guesses when the next great deal may be? Olympics with HN could be one but it is anyone guess how good that may be. I wonder if people are going to cancel waiting for the G4s to come into stock? I would be interested in taking someones place if they wanted to bail on it!

  • +1

I also returned the soundbar today, at a different store from the one I collected it from using the electronic receipt for the soundbar alone. All in, it was a very good deal (as I also used some discount gift cards) for the Bravia 9 85" - delivery date unknown.
