NEED to RECEIVE BANK TEXT CODES FROM Oz BANK on spare mobile - only while I’m overseas

Hi,
Currently I’m on some Optus Long Life Prepaid plan that is changing.

I only need to receive OZ Bank authorisation codes when OS.

Nothing else.

No data required as I use local OS SIM and chat home on Wattsapp.

Prefer to -

Keep existing number
12 months Long Life

Ok to remain with Optus - only need my bank code.

What’s available/best?
Thankyou

Aldi Mobile sim is $5 with credit, add $15. 12 months expiry.

    • Thankyou - how quick is the port?

      • The Aldi mobile starter kit credit only lasts 60 days now and you need to top it up to extend to 365 days. The amaysim one is better value now if you get a $10 pack for one year expiry. Sometimes if you're lucky you can find this $10 starter pack for $5 when on special.

Have you checked to see whether your bank allows 2FA alternatives to mobile phone?

more secure and convenient than SMS.

    • Sometimes if I’m doing banking on main phone, my bank sends code direct to main #1 new phone that has local OS sim.

If I’m doing banking on computer - they send the code through to Oz number on second (spare) phone

Some websites allow 2FA via email or Authenticator app

Which banks allow 2FA other than sms?

          • @neoleo: Dunno, but the only one that needs to be checked is OP's bank. Certainly email is less secure. Now that I think of it, CBA does MFA via push notifications to their app.

Op, suggest you add 'Mobile Phone' before 'Plan'. Otherwise you may get suggested deals with the Devil.

  • Define "cheap" in your opinion.

  • Rather than start a new thread.

Anyone aware of anything better than this C-mobile Red $99 Annual Plan? Similar to Boost but only 2GB per month (I mainly use wifi).

Not a fan of the Amaysim, Aldi, etc, $10, get paranoid what balance is left, call dropping midway while on hold for 30min, etc.

  • $2 Lebara SIM card…… I have one for my spare phone for a second WhatsApp account… lasts 1 year if I remember right but check.

    • Must be missing something, how is that different v what I'm not a fan of?
