Anyone also on Optus HFC NBN and can let me know the settings they used for their router… is a username and password require or not required

on the Optus website one says you need username and on another page it says not required

https://www.optus.com.au/for-you/support/answer?id=1421 need

It is not required for HFC. Just plug your router into the HFC NBN modem and set up your wifi, if not already done.

I just set up my mates Optus NBN HFC last week :)

Do you have your router in IPoE mode? Won't work without this.

    • yup PPPoE

      no username no password

maybe I need to power off the black box and also do a router factory reset

but you know churning NBN companies every 6m I got a bit of experience on this Deco mesh….. issue this time is I couldn't just change the settings as easy as the other ones

      • Yep, try that and let us know if a power cycle and/or factory reset works.

      • SimAus007: Do you have your router in IPoE mode? Won't work without this.

        Poor Ass: yup PPPoE

        Me: Hmmmmm!

        • lol oh shit IPoE is dynamic IP right?

@Poor Ass: I believe IPoE is dynamic, but PPPoE and IPoE are different protocols. Seems like the modem needs to have IPoE as an option or it won't connect to Optus

@Poor Ass: IPoE is dynamic IP. Change the Deco's setting to dynamic IP to get Optus connected.

Have you actually tried to connect?

    • yes?

A phone call to Optus would fix this…. Surely?

    • hahaha nah they are absolutely rubbish and if you don't get their routers they tell you to contact the manufacturer

and then they try to upsell you shit and called it an "account review"

they think the optus username and password is the username and password on the device

and if you don't get their routers

The router is not their problem.

The connection should be established with the NBN box. Have you tried connecting directly via ethernet to check the connection?

are the lights on the HFC modem correct? try plugging in a computer directly to the modem and see if that works.
