Looking for New Phone, Need ASAP: Current Phone Xiaomi Mi 9T - Budget $500ish

Sorry if this is an annoying post, probably get this all the time

My current phone won't keep a charge and I'm having a baby any day now, need a new phone right away

It's EOFY, but I can't see any great deals or anything going on?

Looking at phones like;
- Pixel 7a / 8 / 8 pro (Seems controversial?)
- Samsung Galaxy A35
- Samsung Galaxy A55

Usually I just check OzBargain and get the running $300 budget phone and that does me well
Hoping for something a little better this time though
Usage: Photos, forums, bluetoothing music / streams
Hoping for something with a nice screen, snappy as, I hate stuttering and lag

Would love some tips on upcoming or current deals
Thanks all

  • I'm an android hater but wish you a fast, painless delivery! Keep your phone tethered to a powerbank for now.

    • Thanks mate! She's overdue so bub is obviously enjoying the free rent. Will do.

    iPhone.

  • Think I've narrowed down to the current deals here;

    • Galaxy A55: $399 ($699 rrp they reckon, so $300 off)
    • Google Pixel 8: $749 ($1199 rrp they reckon, so $450 off)

    Anyone here think the extra $250 is worth it for the Pixel 8?
    Is the Pixel 8 a dumb purchase currently?

    I'm super out of touch

      Depends, you might appreciate the AI image touch ups that google can do depending on how ugly your baby comes out lol

        How dare you lmao

    • Pixel 8 has one of the best camera available on a smart phone.

      I would highly recommend it over Galaxy A55 especially since you will be having a baby, and you would definitely want to be taking photos and showing people. Pixel cameras have next to no shutter lag/delay, so it is especially useful to take pics of kids when fast moving/running around.

    • You guys reckon they stopped permanently the 50% telstra deal on s series phones

  • A55 sub $300 if you can get hold of a code

  • How about OnePlus Nord 3 at $640

    Nothing Phone 2a doesn't have memory card slot and slower charging than OnePlus. But still faster charging than any phones that OP have or even Samsung or Pixel mentioned above.

    OnePlus have the fastest charging speed in this forum page if compared with other phones mentioned in this page. OnePlus have hybrid memory card slot.

    Both OnePlus and Nothing have better processor, better display, faster charging if compared with phones that OP have.

    Note: OP hate stuttering and lag. This could happen to most android phones after use long term for a while.
    Tips: install Hibernator app and use it for apps that don't need to run all the time.
    Install SD Maid app to clean the system and apps etc. from cache rubbish files etc. Even better buy SD Maid Pro to automate the app cleaning process (not one by one). I am a long time android user.
    Also better use adblocker app (system wide) such as Adguard (paid) or free NextDNS (sign up for the account, up to 300k queries for personal use, most people will never reach the free limit) to block ads, trackers, etc. that also contribute to the lag and stuttering of android phones. NextDNS app no longer exists in Google Play Store because no app update, but can install manually from other websites or just put specific NextDNS link in the android phone Settings (Private DNS).

    I haven't tried Adguard DNS with account, free up to 300k queries, same with NextDNS.
