LG 65" Evo C4 4K OLED TV $2,770 + Delivery ($0 to Select Cities/ SYD C&C/ in-Store) @ Appliance Central

370

Model OLED65C4PSA, 65" - currently the cheapest from my research.

It's almost $3000 in other stores at the moment, with occassional price tag $2500-something - the most recent one ended on Sunday.

Great, thin panel, remote with speech recognition (not sure how accurate) and a computer mouse-like cursor (useful for on-screen keyboard and probs in some apps like a web browser), somewhat overwhelming but manageable webOS with LG features.

I can tell the taxman this is for my home office right?

    • go for it, 4K computer monitor…Big spreadsheets!

      • It's for video conferences in front of my cosy armchair!

    • Yeah I don't see why not. When you've got people who are buying a 49" Samsung Odyssey displays and doing the same thing, go for gold.

    • +2

Over $300 though so can only deduct the annual depreciation. Will only get pennies on this tax return if you buy now

  • wow, super price!, paid around this for our 65 CX 18 months ago! (the not quite G2 model)

    • As mentioned in the description - see the OzB link there, once every couple of months it's even cheaper, but hard to say when again.

Also there's been an LG's $500 cashback (?) promo on TV+soundbar sets recently, but not sure if current.

Had a look on the LG online VIP pricing last night C4 65 $2969.
The bundle deal ends 30 June. $500 for the C4, $700 for the G4.
Don’t buy the bundle ($3418) at LG, buy them separately and apply the coupon and save $50 ($3368).
        Website jockeys.

I am thinking I will wait and see what the weekend (Sunday is 30 June) brings before pulling the trigger. Hoping for the bundle at $3K, or $4k for the G4 bundle LG online currently $4318. A further 10% seems reasonable?
I have videopro, HN and JB all with a km of me, so the odds are good.

Are you sure it was 18 months? Paying almost $3k for a 2020 model TV in December 2022?

In December 2022 you could get a C2 for $2600.

  • Does anyone know what happened to the famed C2? The one that is popular for use with PC. I see lots of suggestions, reviews on YouTube but we don't seem to have that model new in Aus? Is it superseded by C3 and C4? But they are like $2K+ thought C2 could be had for $1000? Wouldn't the new replacement be around same price, not double?

    • +1

The small C4 will orlbably fall to dollars like that at the end of its product run too. After Christmas.

    • +2

      Yeah the C2, C3, now C4.

42" models are cheaper and the go to size to use as monitors, there was 42" C4 on sale recently for a decent price.

They drop very quickly once they are discontinued and they clear room for the new series. This happens fast - I rushed to grab a sale on a C2 55 at the end of its life and it dropped hundreds more as they cleared them out for C3s not long after.

As I recall, I think the S90D uses a different panel in Australia compared with North America?

        QA77S90DAEXXY
        QA65S90DAWXXY
        QA55S90DAWXXY

        WX=QD-OLED
        EX=WOLED

        • +2

          Good at 65 inch then.
Funny that a W is the designator for panels that aren’t WOLED.

    • +2

      Looks good, very similar design.

So, which is better/worse? IMO the distinctive feature (happy to be corrected here) of LG is that cursor - you can point and click anything on the screen, using the remote like a wand. Makes "typing" much faster.

      • +1

There’s a comparison video on YouTube that favours the s90d

      • +2

The one thing I've come to learn with TVs is that "better" is very subjective and ultimately comes down to your use case. There'll always be different camps. Some will prefer LG's webOS and the inclusion of Dolby Vision, whereas others will want the benefit of QD-OLED. According to RTINGS, this is what they have to say.

The Samsung S90D/S90DD OLED is mostly better than the LG C4 OLED. The Samsung gets brighter in HDR, so bright highlights stand out more on it, and it maintains its HDR brightness better while in 'Game Mode.' The Samsung TV also has a wider color gamut, better color volume, and better HDR gradient handling, so colors in HDR are more vibrant, lifelike, brighter, and have less banding. The Samsung has a wider viewing angle, and the image doesn't have a green tint that worsens as you move off-center, so it's the better choice for watching TV in a group setting. However, the LG supports Dolby Vision and DTS audio formats, so it's the better option for those looking to get the most out of their physical media.

    • +1

From my limited research, s90d is the better tv.

    • +2

The Samsung definitely has the better panel but it has typically buggy Samsung video processing and no Dolby Vision.

  • +6

$225 more expensive than the $2544.90 price from just 3 nights back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/852733 - but that didn't include delivery

    • +1

Yeah, this was a much better deal. Deliery is only $59.

      • +1

Yeah, it absolutely was. Especially it was available in probably every single bigger chain.

And, as mentioned, it may happen again sometime. The decision to order now or wait indefinitely to save another $170 (~6% relatively to this deal) is for the beholder.

        • Or just go to JB HIFI and try for a price beat

          • @serpserpserp: That's given you can and can be bothered transporting it on your own, right? Or is JB HIFI going to price-match together with delivery?

            • +1

@pizzaguy: I guess that is what you aim for. A price beat including delivery

  • me happy with 83" for $4093 from JB last week! (made a few more purchases as well including porting 2 numbers, so YMMV)

  • Bought this model a while back for 3.4k
Absolutely love it. Well worth it imo

  • What do you guys with your old TV, sell it on FB or do these companies buy old TV and take it away?

    • +1

FB , Gumtree, word of mouth. Install in bedroom/workshop, leave out in hard rubbish…
