Who is here for the comments?

  • +4

    I think this is a hit…

  • +2

Can this actually smash tiles reliably as advertised?

  • +3

    I don't really need it.
But it looks good. And the price is good.
    Tempting.

    • +2

Bizarrely I bought one of these a few weeks ago to assemble furniture (outdoor shelving with metal rivets).

Worked a treat over my cardboard/rag/hammer combo I used initially.

  • +4

I've tried this on my head, it still hits pretty hard

Just make sure they are board first, then nail them.

  • +2

    Why the imports can’t go to a p.o.box I’ll never know .

Looks like something a clown would chase you with,
only good for some bozo .

What's this good for that a hammer can't do?

    • +5

      from Tradesafe website
"What Is A Rubber Mallet Used For?

Rubber mallet hammer is often used in woodworking and carpentry. It helps in assembling or dismantling furniture without causing damage, making it a preferred choice for builders and DIY enthusiasts.

Installing tiles is another common rubber mallet use. The soft head of a rubber mallet hammer allows you to tap tiles into place without cracking them, ensuring a smooth installation process.

When you need to fit parts together in automotive or boat repair, a rubber mallet proves useful. It provides the necessary force without leaving marks, which is important for maintaining a pristine finish.

Leatherworking also benefits from the gentle touch of a rubber mallet. It's used to stamp or shape leather without cutting or bruising the material, allowing for precision work.

In musical instrument assembly, particularly with drums, a rubber mallet is vital. It allows musicians or manufacturers to adjust components gently, ensuring everything fits perfectly without harm."

…and probably a whole other bunch of other random things where you want to lesson the chance of damaging something while you hit it. instead of using a metal hammer, why not use a rubber mallet to crack an egg?

      • +2

Whoever wrote that was cracked with a rubber mallet I think.

      • +2

Everybody knows a rubber hammer is for rubber nails.

    • +1

I use an ancient one for paint tins and ‘non-destructive forced-disassembly and reassembly’

This isn’t used for wood working with chisels - get a solid timber mallet for that.

Don’t need a fancy one to do those sorts of things, but this is a good brand at a very decent price.

      • +1

You can use it on metal without bursting your ear drums

  • +2

This is a panel beating hammer (I think) ,
It’s an estwing hammer so it gotta be really good for something .

    seems like a better value?

    • +1

seems like it.. though only 199 ratings for 80% 5 star. The Eastwing has 3,431 ratings at 87% 5 star. This Eastwing has been tried and tested manytimes and may last many more years compared to seemingly cheaper better value alternatives. Eastwing is usually a very good quality brand. i have the same eastwing framing hammer that survived my carpentry apprenticeship, alott of demolition jobs and still going strong today, that thing will grow old with me most likely. cant go wrong with an eastwing, you know it'll last and survive what some other tools may not. love using their gear, though its usually expensive. when i have to buy a new hammer i get an eastwing.. because they're usually top of the range at bunnings haha and i havent had any bad experiences with them yet. and because i know i can trust my eastwing, to get the job done, whatever it is.

    • +3

Not better value IMO - they do the same things but the Estwing is just a nicer tool. Much more attractive to my thieving siblings too.

      • +1

        lol

    • +1

Looks ugly. Having a cool looking tool set is at least half the appeal of having a tool set.

    • +1

I have the exact same hammer not the rubber mallet one and it’s great. It came with the floor board install kit.

  • +9

Nearly bought one from Bunnings today. Convinced myself the mallet I already have will do. The same excuse did not work for this deal.

  • +1

Thanks Op.Wife bday present is sorted.

    • +1

Hahaha thats awesome 👌 yea theyre great for furniture assembly i hear etc arts and crafts also probably

  • +6

Dont' know why I would need one. But the reviews seem to indicate I have a two faced rubber mallet shaped hole in my life so I'd better buy one. And it was "crafted" in the US, so it'll make a change from my all made in china tool set.

    • +1

Hahaha your hilarious! Never know you might have the urge to make some mash potato one day and youll be thankful you bought one of these.. or want to gently knock out a loose tooth with a rubber chisel… The possibilities are endless

  • Omg 32% clamied.. and 1 left im stock 😱 not sure if thats a sale tactic.. or it's actually about to go out of stock

  • Now it says 33% claimed, quantity 18.. the deal must go on

  • +1

Can recommend, Estwing great quality, actually a tool you will use assembling furniture and odd jobs.

  • +1

I think I am living proof that you can never have enough hammers lol

  • +2

If the tips are made out of leather, when deciding which face to use, you can go:
    Red leather, yellow leather…..
I’ll get my own coat on the way out

  • +1
    • I have this one and it's great. Can't justify paying x4 for this fancy name brand.

    • +2

black rubber mallet will leave stains. Not sure about this estwing but avoid the black one if you want a clean finish

  • ever wanted to hit something, but not too hard?! this may be your solution!

    LOL

  • +1

I bought one home brand from Bunnings. Smashed an entire lawn with 3mm corten steel edging… Then it was loose and I returned it. Think I got the last piece of this deal let's see

  • +1

double-face.. for the ultimate face-off! I'm grabbing two

  • +1

Already have a simple black rubber mallet. Bought this, dunno why. Said 1 left in stock like the others said but order still went thru.

  • +1

I love bright colours, but trying to be more sustainable so won't buy.

Even though this has gone up by almost a dollar (25%) since I bought it, it's pretty good and you don't worry too much if you lose it.

  • +1

I have one of these and my brother decided to use these to smash a socket to take some bearings out. He fkd the plastic and it's all dented

  • +5

    Price is $53 now

    • +1

Thanks mate.. i shut it down 😁👍

  • +2

Grats to all who got 1 👍

    • Did anyone check if this was actually a deal for this particular hammer? OZB gets excited sometimes and snaps up hundreds of something, when it turns out that the normal price is actually lower through some other site, even in different Amazon regions. I feel like for front page deals a paid OZB moderator should "verify" the deal as being an actually good deal, like the blue tick on X. Well like the old blue tick on X.

      • Its just a hammer, grown ups choose if they want a hammer, or not. (Yes its cheap, $23 Delivered…. lol most places charge that just for Postage)

        • Yeah you're probably right. Should be "it's just a hammer" badge on the post at least.

  • +2

Dunno how I could miss this. I neeeeed one!

  • Mine arrived. It looks nice enough. Hickory handle will impress the ladies I'm sure. But which end is meant to be the soft end and which end is meant to be the harder end? They both feel the same to me.

    • The yellow cap is 60 Shore D; the red is 40 Shore D.

The bigger the value the harder.
So the red one is softer.

      Gummi candy - 10
      Hard hat - 80.
