Personally glossy is a no go especially in gaming.

      • I do purchase PC gaming accessories if they do also perform well for general everyday use, however I don’t game on PC’s, I mostly only use a PC for work, and for personal use maybe 5%. I game on consoles sometimes, spanning multiple generations, from a PS5 and Xbox series X to a Sega Mega Drive and SNES (regretfully I no longer own a Sega Master System II with Alex Kidd Miracle World built in, and an NES, and an Atari 2600, after stupidly selling them about a decade ago), however at 42 my passion for gaming and the time I devote and commit to them is no longer the same as it was when I was a teenager and in my 20s.

        • As a mid 50's year old I share your sentiments… But I'm still upgrading my study like a gaming area like a teenager… I guess I just like the aethetics

      • This mouse can use Eneloop battery either AA or AAA, makes it very convenient to swap new battery when ran out of juice. NO messing around with recharging cable in midst of gaming.

I don't think you are the target market for these types of mice.

      • You’re probably right, although it doesn’t change the fact that I think the plastic looks cheap and nasty, and for the price it should look like higher quality than it does. It looks like it belongs on the kerbside for collection, the waste contractor that I deal with daily through work handles old junk made of higher quality plastics.

        • Curious. Have you actually looked at one in person, or going from photos?

    • +2

Totally agree about subpar plastic. It feels rough and slippery at the same time. If skin on the palm is dry, the mouse constantly slips out. I'm still hoping to get used to it.
My Logitech G603 and G604 are tons better in this regard, but they are (were) about double the price.

    • The idea that glossy plastic looks less cheap than matte plastic is wild

Sounds like a decent price for this mouse.

I haven't used this one, but I have a Razer Basilisk.
I am a long term Logitech mouse user - my favourite were MX Master and MXM3S (which I am still using now).
I tried to like the Razer, but the construction is much lighter and feels less solid (plastic is thinner/flexy)

I use the Razer as a portable mouse only when weight is a consideration, otherwise I'll pack along my MXM3S.
For me, the laser tracking on the Logitech is so much better
    YMMV.

I've just recieved my replacement Basilisk V3, I had the normal middle click/scroll issues, but got a year and a half out of it, with daily use, would still recommend.

Got one from the wireless1 razer sale as a backup mouse. Great mouse for the price. Other than having BT, the 2 extra programmable buttons make it stand out for gaming and productivity compared to other mice from this price range. The click feel could be better and might feel flimsy to some, but nothing new to deathadders.

  • Matching jb hifi

    • A lot of Australian consumers never seem to understand and learn this either, Amazon is a cancer that plays chess to eliminate the competition, they’re often not the cheapest for prices, they merely match another retailer that had a better deal first, but It doesn’t stop many people eating up Amazon as being the best though when they are not. Many people nowadays are too fooking lazy and fat wanting everything delivered, on top of this Amazon provide great buyer protection, where it’s easy to rip them off putting in a claim lying about the situation, and they approve a replacement or a refund. That’s what the majority of people love about Amazon.

If I can save petrol and money from buying other things once I'm in JB Hi-fi or other stores, then it's a win for me.

        • +1

Exactly right. I buy a lot more from Amazon now because so many retailers aren't keeping up with the times and make it difficult to order online from them. If they want to survive, much like years ago when everybody had to get websites, you now need to be competitive with delivery options, simple as that.

        • I live in Sydney, not a rural area, there is a JB store within reaching distance every direction you look. I would rather support a local retailer/business than Amazon especially when Amazon mostly just copy and match everyone else rather offering great deals of their own. I can drop into one of the many close by JB HiFi locations on the same day if I feel the need to buy something they stock (or order it on their website for click and collect for same day pickup), whereas with Amazon I have to wait until the next day to receive my item even though I pay for prime. There is a JB store 10 minutes walk from my home, and 5 minutes walk from the office in the suburb where I work, so there is no need to get into the car to travel there, and no money on petrol to be saved. I remember at the end of 2018 when Amazon.au launched here in Australia and some people commented online thinking it was going to be our saviour and they would change the landscape by offering much cheaper prices than other Australian retailers, what a joke that’s turned out to be.

          • @[Deactivated]: Nearest JB for me is a 20 minute drive then you have to fight to get a car park & the store is in the middle of the shopping centre… For me it's about how I use my time… Getting Amazon to deliver allows me to do other things that I need to do… Unless I'm out shopping already then I'm happy to collect from a store…

@ThePunchingBag: Surely you leave your house and pass suburbs that have a JB HIFi store in them either daily or multiple times a week that you can quickly drop into, rather than making a special trip. As mentioned in Sydney there is a JB store within reaching distance every direction you look. There’s a JB in the suburb I live in, and another 1 in the suburb I work in, plus 4 or 5 JB HiFi stores 10-15 minutes travel in every other direction. I have 1 hour for my lunch break at work, and another 15 minute break either in the morning or afternoon, I often go to JB during either break. If I am working from home on a particular day then yeah maybe in my 1 hour lunch break I might go to the gym 5 minutes from my house or do some house work, but on the days you’re working from the office, it is certainly a wise use of time to drop into JB during your lunch break. If the problem is finding a car park, then why do you need to drive, get the train or bus (while on public transport you can look a websites like OzBargain which you can’t do while you are driving, rather than wasting your time on the internet at other times during the day), then you’ll have no issues finding a car park because it won’t be required and relevant.

              • @[Deactivated]: I work from home & unfortunately my free time is very limited these days but this is the work/life I've chosen to do for the past 8 years & when I do have free time then there are many chores etc to do around the house or I just want to chill instead of going out or running around…

So no I don't leave the house very often or if I do it's for very short trips & back home again… or it's appointments with the kids etc & it's not always easy to get to the shops with them in tow due to their special needs…

I'm really not a fan of this mouse. I've got a DeathAdder V2 (I'm not sure if it is the exact same one) which I've had for over a year now. I chose it because it's meant to be one of the longer mice, making it good for a palm grip, but I've had to change the way I grip because in the normal position of my finger, I click too far forward and it doesn't register the click. I have to deliberately move my forefinger back into a claw grip to get the correct spot to register the click.

If anybody has any suggestions for better options, I'm all ears. I only use my computer for work, so although the extra sensitivity part of these has been fantastic, it isn't a deal breaker. I've moved back to my old portable little Logitech until I find a replacement just because I'm forced to use claw grip anyway.

  • Why is this a deal? Every shop seems to have this for $58-59
