No more Choice gift card, that's annoying

    • +16

Choice gift card was offered by True Rewards but Cashrewards changed the gift card partner from True Rewards to EonX in Nov 2023. Unfortunately there isn't an equivalent gift card.

  • +3

    Any eBay gift cards ?

    • +3

      No

  • +22

Annoying gift card purchase process. True rewards was better.

    • +1

Was about to comment the same thing.

    • +5

Agreed. That was the most difficult gift card purchase I have made in years if not ever.

Can't be bothered typing out the workflow but ShopBack is much more streamlined.

      • +1

Jeez, if you can't even be bothered typing how bad it is for the rest of us, then it must be horrible. Could anyone else have a crack as to why it's so difficult?

        • I found it straightforward using CBA credit card, but clearly other people are experiencing issues.

    • +5

Basically after a 5 step process going forwards and backwards and then having to call your bank to verify a temporary authorization and then going back to your account and then adding the card detail again and getting an SMS security from your bank and then entering your CVC number a couple more times ( because it might have changed within the last 30 seconds) then you can confirm whether you want to continue your purchase.
By which time you forgotten what you were trying to purchase and what bonus you are trying to get.

      • Cheers! 👍

  • Can't seem to use Coles mastercard gift cards to pay?

    • +4

Since they changed their gift card partner, can no longer use any prepaid cards.

    • I added a credit card and it required verification of amount that was charged to my credit card. Also asked for CVC again at the time of purchase. Hence no gift cards can be used now as they cannot be verified.

  • +3

    Won't accept Zip Pay either.

  • +1

seems nothing can be used in supermarket

    • +17

You can get Coles gift card by buying the 7-Eleven gift card.
Add the 7-Eleven gift card to your mobile wallet and use it to buy Coles Group & Myer gift card at Coles Express.

      • +2

        Thanks, nice trick.

      • +1

7-11 GC can use at Coles express?

      • But can you actually use a gift card to purchase a gift card?

  • Your payment could not be verified….

  • Did't get 10% extra on Amazon GC. Received only 2% standard cashback.

  • +2

    Thanks OP

  • +2

    Thanks OP.
Mine tracked $6 properly each for 2 accounts.

  • +5

That was an infurating number of steps to check out
    But worth it thanks OP

    • +2

I don’t want to get infuriated for just $5. Thanks for saving me the hassle 👍🏻

      • Your mental may be different to mine. I am known to be a road rager for example

    • Agreed.

  • Clicked link. Activated. Ensured the green tick was there. Bought Amazon gift card. Didn't track- only 2%
First time a tracking has failed for me and CR. O well :(

    • +5

      check my rewards tab
it tracks when you click activate, 2% cashback shows separate

  • Is it normal to have to give your physical address when buying an Amazon digital gift card?

    • I think that's for buying any gc in cr. I got asked mine for buying a catch gc.

    • It's the billing address (but anything will work)

  • +10

Omg that was the world’s most annoying CC variation process using the Cashrewards app. 100 steps just to buy a gift card.

  • Sick. Card not supported. Card does support 3DS though

    • +1

Is it a prepaid card that supports 3DS?

  • Anyone know whether this can be used to purchase Woolworths Gift Card? Had a look on Cashrewards Gift Card page, but not able to find it or other to convert to Woolies GC.
    TIA

    • +1

Buy a 7-Eleven gift card, then use it to buy a WISH gift card at a Woolies/EG petrol station.

      • +2

I thought that was blocked by EG Ampol’s checkouts, because 7-Eleven digital gift cards use the same BIN as most Activ Visa gift cards, and EG Ampol blocked Activ Visa gift cards from being used to purchase any gift cards in their stores.

        • +1

Didn't think of that, nevermind me then.

          • +5

@ExPrinceHairy: All good! If you want to keep track of where people have reported the 7-Eleven digital gift card has worked (and not worked), I suggest you have a look at this FAQ.

  • +3

I've still been unable to verify any credit card since cash rewards went to the newer gift card checkout. No matter what card or browser I use, the screen that is meant to popup and charge me two small amounts for verification never appears and my card never gets charged anything either. Just an error about being unable to verify. Have been unable to purchase a gift card in over a year and support stopped replying long ago, clearly without a solution.

    • +7

The new credit card verification charge didn't work for me either, so unable to purchase.

Yet it still emails me saying I've "successfully" added my credit card (when I haven't)

      Terrible system.

      • Is anyone at CrapRewards monitoring this thread?

Would be good to hear how they're tackling this

      • indeed, it was a real pain to get through

    • I had the same issue a few months back and resolved it by turning off my ad-blocker (temporarily). You can also try using a different browser.

      • Thanks, I'll try that….doesn't make a lot of sense though since the part that is not working is a credit card charge.

  • +2

Warning: if you navigate away while entering your payment method, the CR app will restart the whole process and you'll have to enter your details again. So maybe have your physical CC on hand

    • Noticed this too. Really doesn't like to stay open in background

  • +1

    Cheers OP!

  • Sigh, don't receive the 3DS SMS for some reason…

  • +6

Required to save your credit card. Honestly with all the data breaches recently, that's a no from me unless I can use like an Up or Wise temporary card.

    Edit: Wise card doesn't work.

  • Tried using the Coles Prepaid mastercard bought from from previous deal. Can't use it. Guess it'll have to be actual card.

  • +1

Why is the expiry for the 7-Eleven card May 31, 2026? Less than 2 years. Thought it had to be at least 3.

    • +1

It does. Legally they have to accept it up to 3 years.

      https://consumer.gov.au/new-gift-card-laws

      • +3

That is not always true though.

The page you linked to lists a number of exclusions to the three year rule:

        Included and excluded cards

The law applies to all gift cards or vouchers sold on or after 1 November 2019, unless specifically excluded. This includes gift cards for online stores that trade in Australia.

The three year requirement does not apply to gift cards that are:

        • able to be reloaded or topped up
        • for a good or service available for a limited time where the card or voucher expires at the end of that period (e.g. entry to a concert or museum exhibition)
        • supplied to a purchaser of goods or services as part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. a wine voucher valid for one month that is mailed to a consumer as a free bonus with a purchased item and was not part of the purchase offer)
        • donated free of charge for promotional purposes (e.g. a local shopping centre has a one-day marketing promotion where each visitor to the centre on that day is handed a $20 gift card that is valid for use at any store in the centre for that day only)
        • sold for a particular good or service at a genuine discount (e.g. $50 card for salon service valued at $100)
        • supplied as part of an employee rewards program
        • given as a bonus in connection with a purchase of a good or service for use in the same business (customer loyalty programs)
          second-hand gift cards.
        • part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B).

This bonus cashback deal is a temporary marketing promotion, so Cashrewards and EonX could argue that any gift cards sold through this deal are covered by the last dot point and therefore do not need to be valid for a minimum of three years. However, if Cashrewards and EnoX were going to do that, I think they should at least warn customers about the shorter expiry before you purchase the gift card…

    • Mine has an expiry of 06/27

      • Mine also had an expiry of 06/27

      • Yes true on the actual card it does state that but when I was purchasing it the info was that it would expire May 31, 2026. 2027 is better of course.

  • +1

Thanks . Great promotion. Spent less than than 2 minutes for the whole process in Ling add the voucher to my Amazon account. $5 is also tracked.

  • +1

Superb, Clicked link, activated offer, setup a payment card (CBA debit mastercard) (as it's my first time adding a payment method into cashrewards), my $5 is now showing as pending!

  • Anyone tried to use Ampol GC to buy wws GC before?

    • +2

yes it will be invalid when you pay

      • Thanks.

        • also same applies with Ampol digital cash

  • +1

Bought a gift card via CR for the first time and noticed the estimated approval for the promotional bonus ($5) is ~91 days. Does it really take this long even when the estimated approval for the actual gift card purchase is ~6 days?

  • +1

OP, do you know if the card details entered live and remain on CR servers?
I don't want my card details floating about on the internet, so double checking.

    • +2

After doing 25 different verification things, I realised my card does indeed live on CR.

I went in and deleted my payment method soon after.

      • Good idea

      • +1

Hey I can also see that my card is saved in CR when I tried to make a second GC purchase. However, in settings I cant find any option to find my cards? How did you delete what was saved? Thanks!

        • +2
          1. Click on your $$ value on the top right corner
          2. Click My Gift Cards
          3. In the side pop up, click Payment Methods
          4. Locate the card you want
          5. Click the red thrash can icon
          6. Confirm
          7. Relax and wait for the next hack
          • +2

@lordra: Looks like the CC details still being saved (cached) somewhere after it has been removed from Payment method as after I removed it and wife tried to make a purchase from her CR account by using the supplimentary card (same number, different name), it can't be saved and shows something like…'same credit card can't be used for multiple profile'… so some risks I guess.

  • +1

Gonna ditch CR Giftcards after knowing they don't even accept prepaid cards now

    • +1

Then, why did you upvote this deal? Kind of sending mixed signals here, bud.

  • +1

    Stock up for prime day

  • +2

    CW website having issues.

    • same here. can not proceed.

    • Same here - says Failed to load gift card when trying to purchase one

  • +1

Seems like I'm unable to access my gift card in the CR site (accessing via Profile > My Gift Cards). Fails to load, displays red message saying to try again later.

    • Ditto.

      • Update: Was able to access GC (Amazon) and add to my Amazon balance.

  • +1

lol CW website cannot handle things atm

    • +1

      Running that Windows 95 server

  • +2

Just an update that $5 bonus along with 2% cashback is already got approved.
    Thought of sharing with you!

  • +2

clicked the buy now button on giftcards page and nothing happens. anyone with the same issue?

    • Yeh. Given an email went out about it recently I'm guessing the site is crapping itself atm.
Eventually I get a popup "An error occurred, please try again later"

    • Working now

  • +1

    Thanks OP
